Backstage News and Notes on Last Night's WWE Money in The Bank

Below are some backstage notes from last night’s WWE Money In The Bank pay-per-view.

The Money In The Bank ladder matches were not the only portions of the show that were pre-taped.

WWE taped the Bray Wyatt vs. Braun Strowman match in advance. The reason for this was that they didn’t want to risk accidentally showing the puppeteers on camera when Bray’s puppets appeared during the match.

At last word, the plan is to continue with the Bray vs. Braun feud but this time Braun will have to deal with The Fiend when they wrestle each other again.

As noted earlier, it looks like Otis will not cash in his briefcase on Universal Champion Braun Strowman or WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. Click here for news on what the plans are for his cash-in.

A writer suggested having wrestlers fight in Vince’s office but Vince was not on board with having his office trashed because he doesn’t want anyone near the dinosaur bones on his wall.

As noted, WWE Money In the Bank pay-per-view set a new record in pay-per-view length. Vince McMahon wanted a shorter show and the plan is for pay-per-view times to be shorter until they can get fans back in the arenas. The runtime for the show is listed as 2:23, which would make it one of the shortest pay-per-view events in several years. There were a couple of UK pay-per-views in the 2000s that were shorter. If you exclude those shows, you would have to go back to the In Your House shows from the mid-90s to find a pay-per-view with a shorter runtime. Up until July 1997, the In Your House pay-per-view events all ran under 2 hours.
