Ronda Rousey Involved in Twitter Fight Over "Wrestling is Fake" Comments

As reported last Friday, Ronda Rousey appeared on the Wild Ride! podcast where she discussed not going back to WWE in a full-time capacity again and said she don’t want to spend so much of her energy on “ungrateful fans.”

During the interview, Rousey also noted how much fun she had “fake fighting” with the other women in WWE.

“I love the WWE,” Rousey said. “I had such a great time. I love all the girls in the locker room. Running out there and having fake fights for fun is just the best thing. I love choreography. I love acting. I love theater. Live theater and some of the last forms of live theater.”

Lana didn’t appreciate Rousey’s wording of “fake fighting,” noting some previous wrestlers who have gone down with serious injuries.

“I have NO WORDS for her audacity to [say] ‘fake fighting’!!!!!! If it’s fake why can’t @RealPaigeWWE & @TJWilson can’t wrestle anymore?? If it is fake why couldn’t
@EdgeRatedR wrestle for 11 years???? This is a contact sport where REAL things happen!”

Alexa Bliss also responded, showing a clip from her WWE 365 episode when she spoke about being on the shelf, which was due to receiving two concussions while working with Rousey.

“Hm. Was out for almost a year. Must have been ‘fake,'” Bliss wrote.

Nia Jax wasn’t happy tooand said that once Ronda comes back to WWE she was going to knock her the ‘f–ck out.’ She also said that she wasn’t going to make her look good in the ring.

“I can’t wait for Ronda 2 one day return 2 WWE. Even if WWE orders me to make Ronda look good in the ring, which is the ONLY way for Ronda 2 look good in the ring w/me. I’ll risk my job 2 go down in history as the one from this biz that knocked her the F**K out! #TestMeb—h”

Ronda took to social media to respond to criticism surrounding the comments, noting that there is a difference between “real” fighting and professional wrestling.

“Anyone who is outraged by me calling pro wrestling ‘fake fights for fun’ has never been in a REAL fight. While you all are tip toeing around bruising some pro wrestlers’ huge soft egos – no one is thinking about all of the REAL fighters you’re insulting when pretending pro wrestling is somehow on the same level of realism.” Ronda Rousey explained. “Yes, I understand, wrestling 300 days a year for years on end is incredibly tough on the body and a difficult profession – but do you know what would happen if you got in 300 REAL fights in a year? You would be dead.”

Rousey clearly respects the world of professional wrestling, but still seems set on making her fans and the wrestling universe understand the differences between both professions.
