The State of Florida’s announcement that WWE could continue running shows at the Performance Center in Orlando has raised several eyebrows.

Our Watchdog investigation found the governor’s addendum came the same day that Linda McMahon, the wife of WWE CEO Vince McMahon, announced that her pro-Trump superPAC was spending $18.5 million in the Tampa and Orlando markets. Linda McMahon is a former head of the Small Business Administration under Trump.
The next day, WWE announced its plans to resume live television shows in Orlando.
DeSantis is an ally of President Donald Trump. Spectrum News 13 asked DeSantis’s office whether politics played a role in allowing WWE to start wrestling again but have not received a response.
A spokeperson for America First Action – the name of the pro-Trump SuperPac that Linda McMahon heads up – dismissed any linkage between the ad buy in Florida and the state’s decision to include WWE as an essential service. The spokeperson further added that this was simply an example of someone “looking to connect some sort of dots that simply don’t exist” and called it “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” Finally, it was claimed that the ad buy was planned more than a week before the State’s order.
