WWE is now reporting that Kairi Sane will replace Asuka in the advertised match for tonight’s RAW.
It was mentioned over the weekend that Asuka would go one-on-one with one of her Elimination Chamber opponents – Shayna Baszler.
Now, it has been determined that Asuka is injured with a sprained wrist and her tag team partner, Sane will replace her in this match. She is said to not be cleared by medical at this time.
There is no word at this time how severe this injury may be and whether or not it is kayfabe or an actual concern. The Empress of Tomorrow did participate in a house show tag team match over the weekend with Sane against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair.
Asuka is slated to face five other women in the Elimination Chamber match this Sunday on March 8. Other participants include the aforementioned Baszler, Sarah Logan. Natalya, Ruby Riott, and Liv Morgan.
The announcement made by WWE makes no reference to Asuka’s status for the chamber. We will find out tonight further details as RAW goes live at 8 p.m. ET on the USA Network.
