NXT Results - February 12, 2020

We start off with a look back at highlights from last week’s NXT.

We are at Full Sail University and your announcers are Mauro Ranallo, Nigel McGuinness, and Beth Phoenix. Mauro is on the GameDeck and he talks about two of the matches that we will see on tonight’s show.

– Roderick Strong makes his way to the ring and he has something to say. Roderick says this is not about the Undisputed Era or about the North American title. This is about the Velveteen Dream. You put his wife and son’s face on his tights. You crossed the line and you made it personal. Roderick says he is going to hurt Dream and he will not regret it. He wants an apology. He demands an apology.

Bronson Reed comes out and he says that Velveteen Dream isn’t the only one Strong has a problem with.

Roderick Strong vs. Bronson Reed

Reed attacks Strong as he gets to the ring and he chops Strong and then head butts Strong in the corner. Reed with a slam and elbow drop. Strong with a kick to the head and chops. Strong with a forearm and knee to the midsection. Strong with a chop and Reed with a head butt. Reed with a chop and Strong chops back. Reed with an Irish whip and side slam. Reed puts the shirt over Strong’s head and Reed with a forearm to the chest. Reed with a head butt. Strong with a chop and forearms.

Strong with punches in the corner. Reed with a kick and forearm. Reed fish hooks Strong. Reed with a hard Irish whip. Reed with a double sledge to the back. Reed with another hard Irish whip and Reed gets a near fall. Reed with a waist lock. Strong escapes and chops Reed. Reed with a forearm to Strong. Reed gets Strong up for a delayed vertical suplex and eventually hits it. Reed misses a running hip into the corner. Reed with a shoulder tackle off the apron onto Strong.

They return to the ring but Strong rolls to the floor again. Strong tries to pull Reed off the apron but Reed uses his size advantage to stay on the apron. Reed sends Strong into teh apron and then head butts Strong. Reed misses a running hip and hits the ring steps. Strong drop kicks Reed into the ring steps. Strong gets back into teh ring and he kicks Reed as Bronson rolls back in. Strong with a forearm to the back followed by a punch and chops. Strong with kicks to Reed but Reed with punches. Reed with a shoulder in the corner but Strong with a knee to stop a second shoulder attempt. Strong goes for a sunset flip but Reed does not go over and he drops down for a seated splash and gets a near fall.

Strong with a boot to the head and an enzuigiri. Strong with an Olympic slam for a near fall. Strong with a reverse chin lock. Reed with a belly-to-back suplex and both men are down. Reed with forearms and a back elbow. Reed with a reverse atomic drop and elbow to the top of the head. Reed with a clothesline in the corner followed by a running hip for a near fall. Strong lands on his feet on a suplex attempt. Reed with an elbow but Strong with elbows and Reed hot shots Strong on the top rope from a fireman’s carry. Reed with a clothesline for a near fall.

Strong kicks Reed but Reed with a power slam and back senton. The straps are down and Reed goes up top. Strong stops Reed and Strong goes for a superplex. Strong with an enzuigiri and then Strong goes for the superplex and hits it. Strong gets a near fall. Strong with a drop kick through the ropes and then he sends Reed back into the ring.

Velveteen Dream’s music starts and the lights go purple. Reed uses the distraction to hit a suicide dive on Strong. Reed comes off the turnbuckles but Strong with a knee and he gets the three count.

Winner: Roderick Strong

After the match, Dream appears on the big screen as Strong stands tall in the ring. He brings up Strong’s wife, Marina Shafir, and shows how he has “Call Me Marina” on his tights. Dream goes on about how Strong took something from him. Strong may have lost the North American Title already, but he still has a family. Dream shows a photo of Strong’s wife and son on the big screen. Dream wonders what would happen if something happened to Strong. Dream promises that if something did happen to Strong, someone somewhere would make sure Shafir had all of her dreams fulfilled. Dream shows how he has Strong’s family painted on his tights again. Strong is furious as he storms out of the ring to the back.

– The announcers hype tonight’s show. Mauro leads us to a video of The BroserWeights, Matt Riddle and Pete Dunne, with their 2020 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic trophy. Dunne says they can’t take the cup on a plane to get to “Takeover: Portland” and asks Riddle how they’re going to get it there. Riddle is thrilled to take a road trip, bro. We see footage from their road trip in a Ford Mustang but they end up pulled over by police. Riddle didn’t know Dunne didn’t have a driver’s license. Dunne asks how they’re going to get to Portland. Riddle says the three of them, the three best buds (Riddle, Dunne and the trophy), need to re-group and figure out how they will get there. To be continued, it says.

– We are back and Angel Garza is in the back and Cathy Kelley mentions Angel’s match against Lio Rush tonight. Angel says he never lost the title. It was Swerve who lost. To get to Jordan, he has to beat Lio Rush one more time. It will happen again. Lio shows up and he wants to let Angel know that the guy Angel beat for the title in December is not the same guy he is facing tonight. Lio says he is hungrier. He is going to get his Cruiserweight Title back.

Candice LeRae vs. Dakota Kai

Dakota misses a kick and Candice with a lungblower. Candice misses a splash into the corner. Kai with a running boot from second base. Candice with an enzuigiri and Kai rolls to the floor. Candice with a suicide dive onto Kai. Kai trips Candice and Candice with a kick from the apron. Candice with another suicide dive onto Kai. Candice with a third suicide dive. Candice with a fourth suicide dive. Candice goes up tpo and hits a missile drop kick for a near fall. Kai sends Candice into the ropes after a palm strike. Kai with a kick from the apron. Kai chokes Candice in the ropes. Kai chokes Candice in the ropes. Kai chokes Candice in the ropes. Candice with a back elbow.

Kai with a forearm as they fight to the turnbuckles. Kai sets for a superplex to the floor but Candice blocks it. Candice sends Kai to the apron. Kai wit ha kick to knock Candice off the turnbuckles and to the apron. Kai chokes Candice on the middle rope. Kai gets a near fall. Kai misses a running boot and Candice goes to the turnbuckles. Kai with a forearm and Kai pulls Candice into the turnbuckles and we go to commercial.

We are back and Candice with a running drop kick. Candice puts Kai on the turnbuckles and Candice with a super swinging neck breaker. Candice misses a quebrada and Kai goes for a knee to the head but Candice escapes. Candice with a wrist clutch German suplex into the GargaNo Escape. Kai tries to get to the ropes but Candice rolls through and they go back into the center of the ring. Kai with a rollup for the three count.

Winner: Dakota Kai

After the match, the music hits as Kai goes to the floor to celebrate and exit. LeRae is shocked. LeRae follows Kai around the ring but Kai sends h er face-first into the ring post. Kai then grabs the timekeeper’s bell and drives it into LeRae, sending her down. Tegan Nox suddenly attacks out of nowhere, dropping Kai and mounting her with strikes. Security and officials run down to break the fight up. Nox runs up the ramp and tackles Kai on the stage as they pull them apart again.

– The announcers show us footage of Johnny Gargano and Cameron Grimes arguing backstage at Sunday’s NXT live event in Riverside, CA. NXT General Manager William Regal has made that match for tonight. Back to commercial.

Johnny Gargano vs. Cameron Grimes

They lock up and Gargano with a wrist lock. Grimes with a waist lock and take down. Gargano with a head lock followed by a snap mare and reverse chin lock. Grimes gets to the ropes to force Gargano to release the hold. Gargano with an ankle pick and a modified Trailer Hitch. Grimes with a waist lock and take down but Gargano with a front face lock. Grimes tries to escape but Gargano holds on. Gargano with an arm drag and wheelbarrow into an arm drag. Gargano with a drop toe hold and he rolls through into the GargaNo Escape. Grimes tries to get to the ropes and Gargano keeps Grimes in the center of the ring. Grimes with a knee to the midsection.

Gargano with a head scissors and drop kick followed by a clothesline that sends Grimes over the to rope to the floor. Grimes moves and Gargano lands on the apron. Gargano with a thrust kick and cannonball off the apron. Gargano with a clothesline against the guardrails and then he chops Grimes a few times. Gargano with a shoulder and he tries for the slingshot DDT but Grimes blocks and hits a gourdbuster followed by a clothesline.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Gargano with a head butt. Grimes with an Irish whip and Gargano with a Michaels Flip in the corner. Grimes with a German suplex for a near fall. Gargano with a forearm from the apron and then Grimes catches Gargano on the slingshot spear attempt. Gargano escapes the gutwrench and Gargano with a DDT. Gargano with forearms and a neck breaker followed by a gourduster. Gargano with a knee and clothesline. Grimes goes to the floor and Gargano goes to the apron and Grimes goes back into the ring. Gargano with a slingshot spear for a near fall. Gargano blocks a German suplex and hits a victory roll for a near fall. Grimes with a sit out spinning side slam for a near fall.

Gargano with a forearm. Grimes with a forearm and Gargano with an enzuigiri. Grimes misses a kick and Grimes hits Collision Course for a near fall. Gargano holds on to the ropes and Grimes misses the stomp. Gargano wit a super kick followed by a DDT. Gargano sets for the super kick and Grimes with a round kick to the temple. Grimes misses a stomp and Gargano with a La Mistica into the GargaNo Escape and Grimes taps out.

Winner: Johnny Gargano

Gargano speaks to the camera and has a few words for Finn Balor, hoping he was watching ahead of their “Takeover: Portland” match on Sunday.

– Cathy Kelley is backstage with NXT Champion Adam Cole. Roderick Strong is also there, pacing around because he’s upset. Cole says he will teach a lesson to Kushida tonight, and then teach one to Tommaso Ciampa at Takeover. Cole goes on and says his life is the NXT Title. He talks more about being champion and Ciampa, then dismisses Cathy.

– We get another segment with footage of Matt Riddle and Pete Dunne on a boat, with their Dusty Classic trophy. Riddle says they need to figure out how to get this thing to Portland. Dunne is a bit frustrated or maybe just disappointed. Riddle has an idea. Light bulb, bro! To be continued, it says. Back to commercial.

– We are back with Robert Stone. He says power is achieved through confidence. They will get those three seconds back. Next week there will be rematch and a relaunch of the Robert Stone Brand.

– Next week, Roderick Strong will face Velveteen Dream on NXT.

Lio Rush vs. Angel Garza in a Number One Contender Match

The match starts with a depantsing from Garza before locking up. Rush avoids Garza off the ropes and hits an elbow drop. Garza avoids the Come Up and Garza with a drop kick. Garza ties Rush up in the corner and then he chops Lio. Garza with a kick to the leg. Garza puts Rush on the turnbuckles and Garza with strikes to the back. Garza with a kick to Rush in the tree of woe. Garza gets a near fall. Garza kicks Rush on the apron. Garza with a kick and forearms to the back. Garza sets for a piledriver on the apron but Rush blocks it. Rush with a kick to the leg to send Garza to the floor. Rush leaps over Garza but Garza catches Rush on a cross body and Garza sends Rush into the ring post and ring steps.

Garza puts Rush against the guardrails and Garza with a kick to the back as we go to commercial.

We are back and Rush with a suicide dive onto Garza. Rush with a corkscrew senton off the apron and they return to the ring. Rush gets a near fall. Rush with kicks and Garza blocks a kick. Rush lands on his feet and he misses a kick but Garza with a knee. Rush with a spinning heel kick but Garza hits a super kick. Garza with a drop kick when Rush goes for the Come Up. Garza with a wrist clutch gourdbuster for a near fall. Garza goes to the turnbuckles and he brings Rush up with him. Garza goes for a Wing Clipper from the turnbuckles but Rush with head butts to escape. Rush with a cutter from the turnbuckles and Garza falls to the floor.

Rush goes up top and hits the Final Hour on Garza on the floor. Garza gets his knees up when Rush goes for Final Hour in the ring and Garza gets a near fall. Garza with a super kick and then he picks up Rush for The Wing Clipper but Rush counters into an inside cradle for the three count.

Winner: Lio Rush

After the match, Jordan Devlin comes out and he congratulates Lio on his victory. He says it looks like you are the next stop on the Jordan Devlin Cruiserweight Championship Tour. Jordan says he doesn’t fancy Lio’s chances. He will show next week that you don’t bet against the Ace.

– We take a look at a video feature about Dominik Dijakovic and Keith Lee. Mark Henry talks about how big men have done amazing things in the ring. He says there are two athletes who have redefined what a big man is supposed to be in this industry. Keith Lee is 320 pounds who moves like he is 205. Every time he steps in the squared circle, he dominates. The Royal Rumble and the North American Championship. If there is anyone who can stop him, it is Dominik Dijakovic. He can step over the top rope like the Undertaker and back flip off of it like Rey Mysterio. They have had one hell of a mindblowing rivalry in NXT. What will they do with championship gold on the line. Mark says he cannot wait to sit back and feast his eyes and bask in the glory of these two men.

We go to commercial.

Bianca Belair vs. Santana Garrett

Belair with a running shoulder tackle as the bell rings and Belair with forearms and kicks. Belair with a handspring moonsault to the back and then Belair with a double chicken wing into snake eyes followed by KOD for the three count.

Winner: Bianca Belair

After the match, Belair takes the mic and she says Rhea goes to Raw to face Charlotte Flair like she isn’t here. Bianca wants to know if she is invisible, but she is standing right here. Keep playing on Raw because Bianca says she will walk out of Portland as the next NXT Women’s Champion. Rhea Ripley‘s music plays and she makes her way to the ring and she has something to say. Rhea tells Bianca she assures her taht she is not looking past her. She is looking right at her. Rhea says at Takeover, she is going to go right through Bianca. Bianca misses a clothesline and Rhea with a punch. Bianca gets Rhea up and hits a KOD. Belair stands over Ripley, dances and swings her hair around as her music hits. The announcers hype Belair vs. Ripley at Takeover.

– Matt and Pete are with the trophy and they find their plane. Pete wants to know how did they pull this off. Matt says he knows a guy. Pete asks why are they putting the boot in the boot. Matt says they don’t want any luggage guys to damage it. They get into the luggage compartment as they get on Triple H’s plane.

We go to commercial.

– We are back and Tommaso Ciampa in in the back and he says it was almost a year ago today that he gave away his life. He said he would be back, bigger, stronger, and better. Ciampa says he was scared. So mahy what ifs. What if I never get back to that NXT title. What if I never get back into the ring? What if it was all gone? Now, here we are full circle. Four days away from Takeover Portland. Adam Cole… Tommaso Ciampa for the NXT title he never lost. What if you win Adam?

You go on to being the longest reigning champion in NXT history? What if there is one guy who wants it that much more. What if there is a guy who has gone through that much more? What if that guy is Tommaso Ciampa? What if the final bell rings and I am the champion. I get Goldie back. What if I go to Takeover in Tampa with all of the eyes on me. Adam Cole, they say that man is most dangerous when he has nothing to lose. When you look into my eyes, you know exactly how true that is.

Adam Cole vs. Kushida

We go to the ring for tonight’s main event and out first comes NXT Champion Adam Cole for this non-title match. Kushida is out next, looking for revenge after The Undisputed Era dumped him into a trash can last week.

They lock up and Cole with a wrist lock and KUSHIDA with a reversal. Cole backs KUSHIDA into the ropes and KUSHIDA with a waist lock take down and knees to the head. Cole tries to escape but KUSHIDA holds on. KUSHIDA misses a round kick and Cole goes to the floor. KUSHIDA with a drop kick through the ropes and KUSHIDA with punches. KUSHIDA is sent into the ring steps. Cole goes for the Panama Sunrise on the floor and KUSHIDA counters into a cross arm breaker on the floor.

They return to the ring and KUSHIDA goes up top and hits a chop to the head. KUSHIDA continues to work on the arm. KUSHIDA with a kick to the shoulder. KUSHIDA works on the arm and kicks the arm. KUSHIDA sends Cole and KUSHIDA with a handspring kick to knock Cole off the apron. KUSHIDA misses a baseball slide and Cole with a super kick. Cole with a neck breaker. Cole gets a near fall. Cole with another neck breaker. Cole goes to the turnbuckles and he pats himself on the back. Cole with a reverse chin lock.

KUSHIDA wtih punches to escape. Cole goes for a suplex but KUSHIDA lands on his feet and both men go for clotheslines at the same time and both men are down. KUSHIDA with running forearms and KUSHIDA with a handspring back elbow. KUSHIDA with a hip toss and cartwheel followed by a drop kick. Cole rolls to the apron and Cole avoids being sent into the turnbuckles. Cole sends KUSHIDA Into the turnbuckles. KUSHIDA with a handspring kick to Cole to stop him on the turnbuckles. KUSHIDA goes for the hammer lock on the turnbuckles but Cole pushes KUSHIDA off the turnbuckles. KUSHIDA with a jumping DDT off the turnbuckles into a cross arm breaker and Cole gets to the ropes.

KUSHIDA with a running drop kick to the arm but Cole with an elbow. Cole misess an enzuigiri and KUSHIDA kicks the arm. Cole avoids a tornado DDT and Cole with a Shining Wizard for a near fall. Cole with a forearm and KUSHIDA fires back. They go back and forth. KUSHIDA with kicks to the arm. KUSHIDA with a rolling elbow but Cole with a kick and super kick. KUSHIDA with a punch but Cole with an Ushigoroshi followed by a second one for a near fall. Cole pulls the knee pad down and KUSHIDA avoids the Last Shot. Cole with a super kick for a near fall. Cole goes to the turnbuckles and sets for the Panama Sunrise but KUSHIDA blocks it and applies the Hoverboard Lock.

Cole tries to get to the ropes but KUSHIDA rolls Cole back into the center of the ring. Cole with a rollup for a near fall. Cole with a near fall and then KUSHIDA counters with a near fall of his own. KUSHIDA with a Pele Kick. KUSHIDA pulls at Cole’s arm and KUSHIDA with Kawada kicks to Cole. Cole with a super kick when KUSHIDA goes for a handspring move and Cole gets a near fall. Cole with a Last Shot for the three count.

Winner: Adam Cole

After the match, the music hits as Cole takes his title and stands tall. We go to replays. Cole has his arm raised and poses with the NXT Title as Mauro marks the 256th day of this title reign. The music interrupts and out comes Tommaso Ciampa. Cole stares Ciampa down from the ring as he slowly marches down the ramp. Ciampa takes his time but finally enters the ring as Cole looks on. The music stops and some fans are chanting for Cole. Fans chant “Psycho Killer” louder for Ciampa now. Ciampa circles Cole and stares at the title on his shoulder. They face off in the middle of the ring with Cole holding the title next to their heads. Ciampa says he will take his life back at “Takeover: Portland” on Sunday. Cole says that will happen, over his dead body. The “Takeover: Portland” go-home edition of NXT goes off the air with challenger and champion facing off in the middle of the ring.
