AEW Dynamite Results - (1/1), Jacksonville, FL

We are live from the Daily’s Place arena in Jacksonville, FL, as Taz, Jim Ross, and Excalibur give the rundown for tonight’s Homecoming Edition of AEW Dynamite.

Cody vs. Darby Allin

Anderson is Cody’s advisor (aka Coach of the Nightmare Family) now, this is his first ringside appearance with Cody. Crowd is fairly split early on as they chant for each wrestler. Numerous early pin attempts, only one-counts though for each guy. Cody talks to Anderson for a moment as he gathers himself. Allin goes for a springboard coffin drop, reversed, Cody gets reversed, throws a forearm and launches him into the ring post, Allin ends up out on the floor.

Allin back in the ring, knocks Cody out to the floor, and lands a solid suicide dive on Cody. He then throws Cody shoulder first into the ring post. He sends Cody back into the ring, but Cody with a disaster kick that puts Cody down on the floor. Allin able to recover and hit that left shoulder again. Allin sends Cody down to the mat, cover, one. Cody looks for the figure-four, Allin able to reverse it for a moment, Cody gets it back, Allin with a rope break. Cody tries for another figure-four, Allin counters and kicks Cody shoulder-first into the corner. Allin with the cover, goes right into a an armbar, then traps both arms behind Cody’s back, but Cody gets a foot on the rope.

Allin yanks the top turnbuckle pad off. He tries to send Cody into it, Cody reverses, launches Allin over the top rope, but Allin lands on the rope, springboard crossbody on Cody, cover, two. Allin gets rocked with a spinning powerslam. Cody with a kick and ten-punches in the corner. Cody tosses his weightbelt out to the front row. 10 minutes down, match has 20 minute time-limit.

Cody sits Allin on the top rope, Cody with a reverse suplex, cover, two. Back and forth action during the break. Allin with a code red off the second rope, cover, two. Allin with an over-the-top stunner. Allin looking for a coffin drop, Cody rolls to the apron. Allin ends up adjusting and hitting a coffin drop on the apron! Back in the ring, Cody lands a knee to the face. Five minutes remaining.

Cody goes for the springboard cutter, Allin dodges it. Allin looks for the stunner, but ends up taking a cross rhodes, cover, two! Cody is surprised by that one. He looks to AA and resets. Cody charges in and ends up running into that exposed buckle. Allin up for the coffin drop, AA tells Cody to lift up his knees, he does, catches Allin as he drops down, cover, 1-2-3.

Winner: Cody

Backstage:

Jen Decker talks with AEW World Tag Champions SCU. She asks what fans can expect from them in 2020. SCU says everyone is stepping up, noting Dark Order and Santana & Ortiz. Sammy Guevara comes up and talks some trash to Christopher Daniels, asking him what he has besides some wrinkles on his face. Says maybe Daniels doesn’t have it anymore with all those L’s on his record. The two will meet in the ring, next week.

AEW Women’s World Championship – Riho (c) vs. Nyla Rose vs. Britt Baker vs. Hikaru Shida

This is Nyla’s first match back after being suspended for attacking a referee a few weeks back. Originally, this was set to be Riho vs. Kris Statlander but Statlaner had to pull out of the match due to a schedule conflict. As a result, Riho defends against the No. 2, 3 and 4 ranked women. The winner of this match faces Statlander next week.

Rose attacks Riho as she makes her entrance and then she lays out Baker. Shida lays Rose out with a big Flying Knee for a nearfall.

Riho goes for a Armdrag but Shida blocks it only for Riho to come back with a dropkick. Shida hits Riho with an armdrag but Rose pulls her out to the floor. Rose pulls out a table and sets it up at ringside. Rose slams Shida into the ring apron but Riho dives off the top with a Plancha! Rose moves and Shida eats the Plancha.

Rose lays Riho out on the table but Baker cuts her off and pulls her off the table.

During the break, the four brawled out on the floor and then Rose started killing everybody in the ring. Rose attempts to Powerbomb Shida but Shida counters with a big backdrop. Shida attempts a Suplex but Rose blocks it and drapes her over the top rope. Rose dives off the top with a Guillotine Knee Drop on Shida!

Shida crashes to the floor and Rose follows to lay her across the table. Rose then hits a Backsplash Senton off the apron slamming Shida through the table! That’s a whole lot of woman coming down on you, right there!

As Rose tries to roll back into the ring, Riho dives off the top with a Ghetto Stomp! Baker then hits a Hanging DDT on Rose for a nearfall. Baker locks in the Lockjaw on Rose but Rose fights it off with elbows. Rose tries to roll over into a pin but Baker locks her in a Triangle Choke. Rose deadlifts Baker up into a Powerbomb! 1…2…NO Riho breaks it up.

Riho rolls Rose up and rolls right into another Ghetto Stomp! Riho climbs up top and hits yet another Ghetto Stomp! 1…2…NO Baker kicks Riho in the head! Baker hits a Swinging Neckbreaker for a nearfall of her own.

Baker climbs up top but Shida cuts her off and Superplexes her. Rose goes for a Corner Splash on Shida but she moves and then Suplexes Riho into Rose in the corner! Shida hits a Gutbuster on Baker for a nearfall but Rose deadlifts her into a German Suplex.

Rose slams Riho and then stacks her on top of Shida. Rose climbs up top and attempts a Swanton Bomb but they both move out of the way. Shida goes for a Fling Knee but she moves only for Riho to hit a Flying Knee of her own for a nearfall.

Shida hits a Michinoku Driver on Rose! 1…2…NO she kicks out! Shida goes for the Flying Knee again but eats a Superkick from Baker! Baker hits a Russian Leg Sweep on Shida and puts her in the Lockjaw! RIho breaks it up and rolls Baker up with a Jackknife for the pin!

Winner & STILL Women’s Champ: Riho

– Backstage Joey Janela is low blowed by Penelope Ford as he tried to cut a promo. Kip Sabian walks up and smiles. Back to commercial.

– Evil Uno cuts a promo talking about how The Elite are done as we see footage from when the Dark Order took out the group. Uno says we will see how far The Dark Order’s reach truly is.

Jon Moxley vs. Trent (with Chuck Taylor and Orange Cassidy)

Trent makes his way to the ring with Chuck Taylor and Orange Cassidy as his music sounds in the building. Out next as his music blares over the speakers is Jon Moxley who makes his way to the ring through the crowd. Stopping to pose in the middle of the crowd. Moxley enters the ring. The referee sends both men to their corners, the bell rings and match begins.

Both men lock up right as the bell rings, Moxley slams Trent to the mat with a Side Headlock, getting wrist control and once again slamming Trent to the mat. Trent counters and gets a Side Headlock of his own. Moxley gets to one knee, then to his feet throwing Trent off the ropes. Trent attempts a Shoulder Shove and Moxley shakes it off with a smile.

Trent smacks Moxley who counters with three big chops to the chest of Trent. Trent retaliates with a big chop of his own followed by a Double Flying Knee. Fast paced back and forth between both men as we go to commercial.

We come back from commercial and Trent is being pounded with blows by Moxley on the outside of the ring. Trent spears Moxley onto the ground outside of the ring, Moxley rolls back into the ring. Trent rolls in behind him, throwing big chops to the chest of Moxley.

Trent with Half and Half Suplex on Moxley who quickly exits the ring. The crowd begins clapping. Trent with a high flying move onto Moxley over the top rope. Both men re-enter the ring. DDT by Trent, Moxley kicks out at the two count. Trent is catching his breath inside the ring. Moxley with a Running Knee Strike, then face first into a pinfall attempt.

Trent goes for Pile Driver, Moxley and Trent go back and forth with nearfalls before Moxley nearly knocks Trent’s head off with a Clothesline. Trent with a Haymaker and pin attempt. Moxley kicks out at two once again. Both men are struggling to their feet. Orange Cassidy enters the ring and puts his hands in his pockets right in front of Moxley.

Moxley walks up and puts his hands in his own pockets. Trent gets a Pile Driver on Moxley at the 10 minute marker, Moxley losing focus momentarily. Trent comes off the top rope, Moxley waiting for him on the outside, counters and then drags Trent back into the ring.

Moxley drops Trent on his head inside the ring for the win and the number one contender spot against “Le Champion” Chris Jericho for the World Championship.

Winner: Jon Moxley

After the match, Sammy Guevara comes out with a mic. He tells Moxley he sees why he comes through the crowd, takes someone’s drink (a plant), throws it at them afterwards, says he sees why Moxley does this. Guevara says it’s 2020 and the Inner Circle has a big surprise for Moxley. Via video, AEW World Champion Chris Jericho says Moxley looked great in the ring and is the premier wrestler in the business. Jericho says he wants Moxley in the group and wants Moxley to lead the group with Jericho. “I’m offering you 49% of the Inner Circle, LLC.” Jericho standing in front of a Ford GT, and offered it to Moxley with a license plate that says “MOX.” All Moxley has to do is say yes. Jericho wants Moxley to team up with the group so they can take out everyone in AEW. “Think about it Mox, the world can be ours, all you have to do is say yes.” Jericho drives off in the car.

Moxley is standing in the center of the ring holding a microphone looking out into the crowd back in the arena. “All fancy expensive cars aside, I’ve always considered Chris Jericho a friend and a mentor, and out of respect for Chris, I will give you my answer in person, next week. The whole world is gonna find out what’s in store for 2020 live, on Dynamite, next week.” as he drops the mic and exits through the crowd as we go to commercial.

– During the split-screen commercial break, Sammy Guevara has a bunch of cards with words on them. He runs through everything Moxley will get if he joins the group, asks out Victoria Justice’s sister, and plugs his social media accounts.

Dustin Rhodes vs. Sammy Guevara

Rhodes’ music hits and Guevara waits for him to come out, Rhodes comes out from behind to get the first shot on Guevara. Rhodes lifts and tosses Guevara and is in complete control thus far. Rhodes clotheslines Guevara out to the floor, then hits a cannonball senton off the apron. Senton off the apron onto Guevara on the outside. Guevara laying flat inside the ring as Rhodes makes his way to the top turnbuckle. Jake Hager comes walking out as Sammy Guevara rolls out of the ring.

Guevara tries to come up behind Rhodes, Rhodes slams him to the floor, then picks him up throwing him into the ring. Rhodes turns around and sees Hager at the other side of the outside. Guevara flies through the ropes with a Double Foot Stomp onto Rhodes.

Guevara pushes the referee to get his attention, Hager with a slam on Rhodes. Rhodes heads for the ring as we go to commercial.

As we come back from commercial, Guevara has Rhodes in a bridge lock turned to Side Chokehold. Rhodes gets back to his feet and throws blows at Guevara. Rhodes rolls Guevara up for a quick two count. Guevara counters and tries to pin Rhodes, who also kicks out at two. Guevara quickly gets to the top turnbuckle, nobody home.

Rhodes with a Power Slam onto Guevara. Rhodes building momentum, two quick shots on Guevara who drops down, Rhodes with an Atomic Drop after several quick powerful hits on Guevara. Spinebuster by Rhodes for a two count. Rhodes goes for Final Reckoning. Guevara with a Running Shooting Star on Rhodes, Rhodes once again kicks out at two.

Guevara looking angry, lifts Rhodes in a fireman’s hold, Rhodes gets free on the side of the apron and a Canadian Slam on Guevara. Hager looking shocked and jumps up trying to stop the match at ten minutes remaining announcement. Guevara tries to get a cheap shot, Rhodes throws Guevara over the top rope onto Hager.

Rhodes spanks Guevara on the butt before giving him a wedgie where he’s stuck in the turnbuckle. Rhodes says “Suck It” and stops Rhodes. Hager with a low blow while the referee is freeing Guevara from the ropes. Guevara with a quick pin after the assist from Hager, getting the three count pin on Rhodes.

Winner: Sammy Guevara

Backstage:

Private Party are partying backstage when an annoyed Adam Page walks up and pours himself a drink. They tell Page they are worried about him and Page says they should be worried because he could kick both of their asses.

In the Arena:

MJF comes out to the top of the ramp with Wardlow close behind him as they make their way to the ring. MJF stops to allow fans to touch his hands and give him quick kisses on his hands. MJF is seen yelling in the face of a fan as he moves on down the line of fans. A lady shakes her head no to kissing his ring and he bucks at her, followed by breaking another fan’s sign. Other fans are bowing toward him. A man kisses his ring. MJF asks for a kiss on the lips, the lady shakes her head no, but agrees to kiss him on the cheek. MJF finally enters the ring as Wardlow hands him a mic…

“Are you guys done? Or do you want to keep booing me?” MJF starts off. He calls the fans in Jacksonville “mouth breathing morons” then adds, “speaking of, ‘hi Cody'” as he goes on to the stipulations.

MJF says, “#1. At Revolution, it doesn’t matter what I do, if you touch me, if you lay a finger on me, no match at Revolution. No match EVER.

#2. It’s only fair that in order to wrestle me, you should have to go one on one with an opponent of my choosing, and beat them. That opponent will be, Wardlow. MJF asks the crowd to shut their fat mouths as he talks to Wardlow. He asks if Wardlow wants to up the stakes. MJF adds. “A solid steel cage match.”

#3. “This is my favorite one, in front of your family, your friends, and God. You are gonna get down on all fours, like the dog that you are, and I’m gonna whip you. Not one, not two, not three, not four… not seven, eight or nine… but ten glorious times. And Cody, as the leather of my belt rips off your skin, it will be a reminder for the rest of your days that my name is Maxwell Jacob Freeman and I’m better than you *kisses his ring* and you know it.”

Back to commercial.

– Footage of Jungle Boy’s draw with Jericho from a couple of weeks ago is shown.

Backstage:

Jenn Decker cuts an interview with The Jurassic Express. Jungle Boy says it was the biggest match of his career and he did exactly what he said he would do. He says this will be a big year for them.

Adam Page is joining commentary – still drinking – for the main event. Next week, a number of Memphis legends will be honored during “Dynamite.”

Backstage:

Riho – still selling her injuries from earlier – starts to cut a promo when Britt Baker walks up and taunts Riho for never being around. She says that Riho stole her win tonight, too. She says that Riho only shows up when she feels like it and that she doesn’t deserve the belt.

– The Nightmare Family will face The Lucha Brothers next week and Private Party will also face Omega and Page.

The Lucha Brothers & “The Bastard” PAC vs. “BTE” The Young Bucks & Kenny Omega

The Lucha Brother make their way to the ring first followed by “The Bastard” PAC. Nick and Matt Jackson with Kenny Omega make their way to the ring next as their music sounds in the arena. The bell rings, officially beginning this match up. Pentagon going after Kenny Omega early on in this main of event of the evening.

Fast paced action in this match upKnowing each other too well, both men keep hitting the same moves and the same blocks in the center of the ring as we go to commercial. We come back from commercial and PAC goes flying over the top rope onto Kenny Omega. Omega being brutalized in the opposite corner by all three opponents.

Omega throws his boot up and then flips out of the group. PAC quickly goes after Omega, Omega gets the tag to Nick Jackson. Roundhouse Kick to the face, shots, and more hits by Nick on PAC before Matt Jackson is tagged in. Nick and Matt with Double Down Destroyer from the Young Bucks in unison over the top rope.

Omega offers the first shot to PAC. PAC accepts and gets a blow on Omega, Omega counters, knocking PAC to the mat. Omega with a thunder clap chop to the chest of PAC. Back and forth between the two, Snap Dragon Suplex by Omega onto PAC. Omega with a Powerbomb onto PAC for the pin.

Omega hit by Pentagon, breaking up the pin. Backstabber by Pentagon onto Omega. Double Super Kick by Young Bucks. Phoenix with a counter on them. Snap Dragon on Omega. PAC on the top turnbuckle, Black Arrow on Omega as the Young Bucks save the day at the last second. So much fast paced action in such a short time!

PAC trying to lock in the Brutalizer, both Nick and Matt unable to enter the ring to stop it. Matt finally breaks the hold with a kick to the face of PAC.

Omega and The Young Bucks finally get the upperhand, Omega getting the pin for the three count and the win!

Winner: “BTE” The Young Bucks & Kenny Omega

Cody Rhodes comes out to celebrate with The Elite and they all try to get Hangman to join them but he refuses.

We go to credits.
