WWE loading up NXT with RAW and SmackDown talent resulted in the brand’s first viewership win over AEW Dynamite.
This week’s NXT episode edge out AEW Dynamite, although the TNT broadcast did much better in the 18-49 demographic. Per Showbuzz Daily, AEW Dynamite drew 893,000 viewers, which is down from the 957,000 last week. Meanwhile, NXT pulled 916,000 viewers, up from last week’s 750,000 overnight viewers.
As far as rating demographics go, AEW placed eighth place for the night for viewers 18-49 with a .39 rating (down from fifth place) and NXT came in at No. 14 (up from No. 22) with a .30 rating.
The good news is that the viewership numbers were strong for both shows. AEW’s demographic numbers were higher than NXT so they have a lot to boast about. The fact that NXT did not win by a wide margin and they loaded up their show with main roster talent should be seen as a good thing for AEW and shows that they are building their own stars that hold up well with what WWE was presenting on Wednesday night.
