Doubts Around Cain Velasquez Vs. Brock Lesnar Match

Cain Velasquez Vs. Brock Lesnar In Serious Doubt

Many experts and pundits believe that Cain Velasquez would have been the undisputed GOAT of all time if he had not suffered from injury problems his whole career.

It is these injuries that have forced him to call it a day on his MMA career and make the switch to WWE. Those injury problems have not gone away, however, and it looks like a major issue with his knee will force him out of facing Brock Lesnar.

Online bookmakers have Brock the favorite priced at 1/2 to beat Cain who is an underdog priced at 6/4. The match is going to attract a lot of betting online so it will be interesting to see where to odds end up before they go to battle. It is not the first time that the two legends have faced each other as Cain was the man who took the UFC title away from Lesnar in a brutal fight at UFC121. Velasquez won by TKO and left Lesnar with a scar that is there still today underneath his eye so he will be looking for revenge should the two faces each other in the WWE.

Cain made his debut on Oct. 4th at SmackDown which was shown on FOX and was a massive success for the SmackDown promotion. It was a perfect debut and the attack on Champ Lesnar had fans pumped with excitement about the prospect of seeing the two heavyweights battle it out once again but this time wrestling instead of the UFC. The match was expected to be the headline event at the Crown Jewel event but there are rumors already that Cain could be out of action once again due to an injured knee.

Sports journalist Dave Meltzer recently stated that he had heard that Cain required knee surgery which if it is the case it puts the Lesnar match in serious doubt. The extent of the knee surgery is not known but it may require full reconstruction which would put Cain out on the sidelines for a very long time. If he can get only minor surgery there is a good chance that it may happen in November but with Cains injury track record many doubt that this will be the case.

There has been a lot of confusion surrounding Cains deal with the WWE. Many outlets published that he had signed a deal but that is not the case. It may be due to the injury problems why the WWE is still to fully commit but after his debut, they are looking to promote a super fight between Cain and currency Campion Lesnar. When the two met on Friday night Cain’s knee was in a brace but that did not stop him from attacking Brock so maybe he will be able to face him even if not fully fit.

The prospective matchup between the two heavyweights was expected to take place at WrestleMania but now it is expected to be held back until the Crown Jewel event. A lot will depend on if Cain goes ahead with the knee construction surgery or can get a minor operation so that he can compete.
