AEW Dynamite Results (10/8) - Boston, MA

The show began with the Dynamite video introduction and Jim Ross, Tony Shiavone, and Excalibur welcomed to the arena.

They plugged the matches advertised for the show, including Jon Moxley in action against Shawn Spears and the first match in the AEW Tag Tournament between Private Party and The Young Bucks.

A video then aired that focused on the tag team tournament match, and gave brief introductions to Private Party and The Young Bucks. Private Party then made their entrance, followed by The Young Bucks.

Private Party vs. The Young Bucks in an AEW Tag Team Tournament Match:

Nick and Kassidy get things rolling, lots of reversals, Kassidy able to avoid a superkick. They stare at each other for a moment, Nick throws his gum. Matt tagged in and they hit a flurry of double team moves on both Kassidy and Quen. Matt lands a double ax handle off the top rope, Nick back in and double stomps Kassidy’s arm. Nick sends Quen off the apron. They try for a double suplex, Kassidy lands on his feet and dumps Matt out to the floor. Kassidy ends up on the apron, kicks away Nick and hits an asai moonsault on Matt. Quen tagged in and hits a massive springboard crossbody. Quen with a suicide dive, crossbody, senton, and a fosbury flop going from side-to-side out of the ring to the floor on each opponent! He brings Nick back into the ring and goes for a pin, two.

Young Bucks with double superkicks on Quen and then Kassidy. Nick with a bit of a bloody nose. Matt tries for a sunset powerbomb off the apron, Kassidy hangs on, but Matt runs with Kassidy all the way to the ramp and powerbombs him there! Quen alone in the ring, powerbomb/sliced bread combo. Nick goes into the sharpshooter, but Quen pulls himself to the ropes. Crowd very much into this match, a lot have been on their feet once things picked up. Young Bucks really controlling the pace at the moment. Nick with a double foot stomp on Quen as he was bent backwards over Matt’s knees. Nick tries for a superkick, Quen blocks it and throws his foot into Matt. Nick goes for a suicide dive at Quen, Quen side steps him and Nicks goes out of the ring. Quen looks to tag out, but Nick pulls Kassidy off the apron. Matt with a spear, cover, two.

Quen is able to find a window and finally tag out. Kassidy with a dropkick on both Bucks, kips up, but sells his back injury. Double hurricanrana on both opponents. Private Party attempts a double team move, but Matt ends up landing multiple german suplexes on Kassidy, then a double german suplex on both opponent. Goes for the cover, two-count. Young Bucks hit a buckle bomb/kick to the back of the head. Matt with another sharpshooter on Kassidy, Quen gets knocked out on the floor. Kassidy tries to get to the ropes, but Nick flies with a springboard facebuster and hits a moonsault on Quen on the outside. Matt really locks it in again, but Kassidy is able to claw his way to the rope.

Blind tag by Quen, Matt and Nick have some miscommunication. Quen drops Matt, then hits a hurricanrana on Nick sending him off the second rope right into a cutter by Kassidy! Quen goes for a huge shooting star press, cover, 1-2-no! Crowd thought that was it, people still standing for this one. Matt is able to almost setup the Meltzer Diver, Kassidy yanks down Nick, Quen with the sneaky roll-up for the 1-2-3!

Winners: Private Party via Pinfall to advance in the tournament

Private Party celebrate in the crowd as we go to commercial.

In the Arena:

AEW World Champion Chris Jericho heads out to the ring with Sammy Guevara, Ortiz, Santana, and Jake Hager. Jericho says last week’s AEW Dynamite was the highest rated premiere on TNT and it was all because of him. Jericho then introduces each of his stablemates. Says Guevara is one of the most talented in the ring at his age, and he’s on Jericho’s list. Jericho says Santana and Ortiz are nastier than they’ve ever been, back ally brutes and they made the list. Jericho with a “Viva la Raza,” today is Eddie Guerrero’s birthday. Finally, he introduces Hager, crowd with a “We The People!” chant, Jericho says that was a stupid idea by creative, it’s dead and buried. Jericho praises Hager’s MMA work, says he’s the toughest in AEW. Jericho introduces the stable as The Inner Circle. Jericho moves on to Cody, he says he doesn’t like Cody nor his family. He calls Dusty Rhodes a jerk, and says he’ll kick Dustin Rhodes’ ass later tonight. Jericho then says he’s going to beat the “ever-living s—” out of Cody at AEW Full Gear on November 9.

– Jimmy Havoc says tonight is the biggest opportunity of his life when he takes on Darby Allin at a chance to become the number one contender to the AEW World Title.

Darby Allin vs. Jimmy Havoc (Number One Contender Match for the AEW World Title)

Allin looks for a handshake to get things started, back and forth action, each try for an early pinfall attempt. Havoc spits at Allin, but Allin hits a high-elevation arm drag off the top rope. Dropkick by Allin, Havoc ends up on the apron. They swing at each other, Havoc grabs Allin and hits a suplex down to the floor! Back in the ring, Havoc goes for a pin, two.

Allin gets dropped, Havoc bends back Allin’s hand and then bites it. Havoc continues to work the arm, Allin with a kick to the face, back elbow, goes for another, but Havoc reverses it into a sleeper hold, lifting Allin off the mat. Havoc then locks in the sleeper hold again but transitions into a suplex.

Havoc in full control of the match, tiger driver ’98, cover, Allin grabs the bottom rope. Allin with a crucifix pin, two. Havoc then just stops away at Allin’s face. Havoc looks for the ripcord lariat, but Allin bites his finger. Allin with a flipping stunner, coffin drop off the top rope hits! 1-2-3.

Winner: Darby Allin via pinfall and will face Chris Jericho for the title on next week’s AEW Dynamite

After the match Allin celebrated and posed for the crowd on the ropes before walking up the ramp. Back to commercial.

Emi Sakura and Bea Priestley vs. Riho and Britt Baker

The story here is that Sakura is a Japanese wrestling legend and actually trained Riho, who became the inaugural AEW Women’s Champion last week. A couple of months ago Baker suffered a concussion due to a kick from Priestly in a match, so there are all kinds of storylines to this one.

Riho and Sakura will start the match off against one another. Sakura whips her protégé into the ropes and then counters a cross body block with a slam for a nearfall. Riho escapes the pin attempt with a bridge up and then a dropkick. Riho tries to slam Sakura but she blocks her and tosses Riho clear across the ring by her hair.

Sakura trash talks Baker as Priestly chokes Riho in the heel corner. Sakura with a Scoop Slam and then she locks in the Romero Special before tagging Priestley in. Priestley immediately knocks Baker off the apron and then whips her into the guardrail!

Baker comes back with a Thesz Press as the referee is trying to separate them on the floor and Sakura just keeps choking Riho. Sakura comes out and helps Priestley Double Suplex Baker on the floor, but out of nowhere Riho dives off the top with a Plancha onto Priestley and Sakura!

We go to commercial.

The match continues in split screen form during the break. Riho and Baker manager to come back with a series of knees on the heels but Priestley cuts them off and tosses Riho into the ropes only to eat a Spinning Headscissors followed by the 619 for a nearfall!

Baker tags into the match but eats a Diving Ghetto Stomp to the back of the head out of nowhere from Priestley! Sakura kicks Baker and Priestley covers her for a nearfall. Priestley attempts a T-Bone Suplex but Baker counters and attempts a clothesline only for Priestley to counter right back into a Half Nelson Suplex into a bridging pin for a nearfall.

Riho breaks up the pin and then nails Sakura with a Flying Knee only to eat a roundhouse kick from Priestley! Baker and Priestley start killing each other with forearm smashes until Priestley eats a Ghetto Stomp from Riho off the top followed by a DDT for a nearfall. Sakura broke up the pin an then dragged Priestley to the corner and tags her.

Sakura hits a Butterfly Backbreaker on Baker and then hits a Running Cross Body in the corner. Sakura hits a Vader Bomb off the middle rope for a nearfall. Sakura goes for a Tiger Driver but Baker blocks it and hits a Cutter. Riho then runs in and catches Sakura with a rollup into a Ghetto Stomp. Riho knocks Priestley off the apron and Baker hits an STO on Sakura for a nearfall.

Baker hits a Ripcord Forearm followed by a Neckbreaker an then a Rings of Saturn! As she has Sakura in the Rings of Saturn, she uses her free arm to lock in a Mandible Claw at the same time for the submission!

Winners: Baker & Riho via submission

After the match Baker and Priestley get in each other’s faces again as Riho and the referee try to separate them.

– Jennifer Decker talks to The Best Friends who are in the crowd for tonight’s show. They are asked how they are feeling about going against SCU next week in the tag tournament. Chuck says don’t ask them, ask this guy and the camera panns back to Orange Cassidy, he gives a weak thumbs up.

Shawn Spears (with Tully Blanchard) vs. Jon Moxley

Shawn Spears makes his way to the ring as we go to commercial. John Moxley is next, PAC joins commentary for the match.

Moxley gets right in Spears face, Blanchard tries to pull him back and gets a bit of a headbutt from Moxley and bails out of the ring. PAC on commentary wonders why he’s not getting a title shot, despite having two very impressive wins in AEW.. Moxley chops and swings away on Spears, kick to the back and then the chest, elbow drop, cover, two. Spears finally gets in some shots, but eats a big elbow that slows him down. Crowd very much behind Moxley in this one. Spears bails out to the floor, but Moxley follows and launches him into the barricade.

Moxley goes after Blanchard for a moment, gets hit from behind, but ends up dropping Spears again. He tosses Spears in the ring, referee checking on him and Blanchard shoves Moxley into the steps. Looks like Blanchard handed something over to Spears who then sends Moxley into the steps again. PAC says in the past two year he’s been pinned once, nobody can hold a candle to him, he wonders why he’s at commentary instead of getting the match he deserved. Both Spears and Moxley are on the floor, Spears hits a death valley driver right into the barricade!

We get the split screen during this break, as well. Spears rolls Moxley back in the ring and mounts him with rights and lefts followed by a Knee Drop. Spears hits a series of elbow drops and leg drops for a nearfall. Spears beats on Moxley for several more minutes until Moxley finall rolls to the floor to get away.

Spears swigs a bottle of water and spits it in Moxley’s face, which seems to fire him up. Moxley hits a series of forearms and tosses Spears back in the ring only to eat a Sky High for a nearfall. Spears quickly locks in a Half Crab.

Moxley fights the hold off by rolling over and kicking Spears off. Spears is able to knee Moxley in the back and knock him back to the floor. Spears hits a Suicide Dive through the ropes onto Moxley on the floor and then rolls him back in the ring. As Spears taunts the crowd, Moxley comes right back out with a Suicide Dive of his own onto Spears on the floor!

Back in the ring, Moxley lays into Spears in the corner with chops and forearms and then he pulls his knee pad down and hits a Running Knee for a nearfall. Moxley and Spears exchange strikes in the center of the ring, which Moxley gets the better of and caps off with a Lariat. Moxley goes for his finish but Spears counters with a DVD into a neckbreaker for a nearfall. Moxley counters Spears with a Paradigm Shift for the pin!

Winner: Moxley

After the match, Kenny Omega walks onto the stage carrying a broom wrapped in barbed wire and a bat wrapped in barbed wire! Moxley sees him and immediately makes his way up the ramp towards Omega as he sees him.

Omega tosses the bat to Moxley and dares him to pick it up! PAC then blasts Omega from behind with a chair! PAC stares Moxley down and then walks away as Moxley looks down at Omega and seems to be contemplating hitting him with the bat. Moxley stops himself and throws the bat away before walking away.

Dustin Rhodes & Adam Page vs. Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara

Dustin immediately puts the boots to Jericho and they start brawling on the floor. Dustin tosses Jericho head-first into the ring post as Hager teases getting involved. Dustin tosses Jericho into the crowd and then catches a diving Guevara with an uppercut!

Back in the ring, Dustin connects with a Flying Clothesline on Guevara and tags Page into the match. Dustin whips Page into a clothesline on Guevara and then connects with one of his own. Page follows up with a Lariat and then hits a Fall Away Slam followed by a Slingshot Plancha onto Jericho on the ring!

In the ring, Page ducks an Enziguri from Guevara and deadlifts him into a Bridging Gutwrench Suplex for a nearfall. Dustin tags back in and drops down into another uppercut. Dustin whips Guevara hard into the turnbuckles and then cannonballs down onto the arm of Guevara.

Page quickly tags back in and the babyfaces take turns chopping Guevara and then Page hits a Running Knee followed by a Back Suplex from Dustin and then a Running Shooting Star Press from Page for a nearfall! Page hits a Scoop Slam and climbs to the top but Jericho grabs his leg allowing Guevara to kick him. Guevara climbs up with Page on the top and hits a Gutbuster onto the top turnbuckle for a nearfall.

We go to commercial.

Jericho hangs Page up in the ropes and allows Guevara to kick him before hitting a cannonball of his own. Jericho taunts the referee as he chokes Page in the ropes and then goes for another cannonball but this time Page moves out of the way causing Jericho to crotch himself.

Guevara cuts Page off from tagging out and then tags Jericho and puts Page in a chinlock. Page fights him off by lifting Guevara p into a Back Suplex. Guevara tags Jericho into the match and he taunts Page by slapping him in the back of the head repeatedly. Jericho lays into Page with a Running Back Elbow and then goes for the Lionsault but Page gets his knees up! Jericho tags in Guevara as Page reaches for the hot tag. Guevara cuts him off again but Page destroys him with a Tornado Lariat out of nowhere!

Page tags in Rhodes and he hits a series of clotheslines followed by an uppercut and then an Atomic Drop and a Big Boot. Jericho comes in and eats an Atomic Drop, as well. Dustin hits a Flying Cross Body off the top onto both Jericho and Guevara!

Dustin backdrops Guevara off the top rope and then Page comes out of nowhere with an Asai Moonsault! Hager DESTROYS Page with a clothesline! Dustin catches Jericho with a Code Red but Jericho manages to kick out at 2 1/2.

Guevara tries to cut Dustin off but eats a Snap Powerslam! As Guevara holds onto the referee’s shirt, Hager runs in and kills Dustin with a Lariat! Jericho connects with the Judas Effect on Dustin and gets the pin!

Winner: The Inner Circle

The Inner Circle continues to beat down the babyfaces after the match. Page and Hager brawl to the back as Dustin gets stomped out by Jericho and Guevara. Suddenly the lights go out and when they come back on Cody is in the ring! Cross Rhodes on Guevara! Cody stares Jericho down as the crowd is absolutely eating every single bit of this up!

LAX hits the ring and beats Cody down before he can get his hands on Jericho. Out comes MJF to protect his buddy Cody! MJF has a chair and he backs down LAX but then Jericho holds Cody up and tells MJF to hit him! MJF says “hell no” and lays out The Inner Circle with chair shots! MJF eats up the adulation from the fans, which costs him as Jericho kills him with the Codebreaker.

Out comes The Young Bucks! Superkick Party for LAX! Superkick Party for Guevara! Double Tope Suicida’s for LAX on the floor! Jericho bails up the ramp with his title as Cody stands tall in the ring with Dustin and The Bucks. Darby Allin comes skating down the ramp on a skateboard and dives off with a Flying Knee right to the face of Jericho! Darby hits Jericho with the skateboard!

He leaps off and takes down Jericho, punches thrown, skateboard to the stomach and then across the spine of Jericho. Jericho gets on the mic and says “you stupid idiots don’t know who you’re dealing with.” He tells Darby next week, “It’s your funeral, b—-!” Cody and company stand tall in the ring as the show closes.
