On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer answered a mailbag question about Luke Harper’s status with the company.
Harper’s contract was set to expire in November but they added 6 months to it because he was out with an injury towards the end of 2018 and early 2019.
“Whatever it was, Vince doesn’t wanna use him,” Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio. “Vince doesn’t see anything in him, to say the least. I’ve heard that from a bunch of people.”
Meltzer noted that WWE doesn’t want anyone to leave so that is why he’s being paid to do nothing.
Harper will be a free agent around WrestleMania time and it’s expected that he will sign with All Elite Wrestling because he has friends there. In fact, one of his closest friends works behind-the-scenes for the company.
Harper was scheduled to return to action earlier this year but McMahon soured on him after seeing a video of him wrestling at the Worlds Collide show that took place at WrestleMania Axxess in New York City. He was used in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 35 and in a SmackDown dark match a couple of days later. He hasn’t been brought to shows since that time.
