NXT Results - July 17, 2019

Mauro Ranallo, Beth Phoenix, and Nigel McGuinness welcome us to the show and we are ready for our first match of the night.

Matt Riddle versus Arturo Ruas

Matt Riddle with a kick to the leg and Ruas with a punch to the midsection. Ruas with a kick and Riddle with a punch. Riddle with a waist lock and take down. Ruas with a reversal into a chin lock and body scissors. Riddle with a reversal but Ruas with a knee bar before Riddle escapes. Ruas and Riddle with punches and Riddle backs Ruas into the corner. Riddle goes for the arm and adds a body scissors. Ruas with a power slam into a cross arm breaker but Riddle blocks the arm bar. Ruas applies the cross arm breaker but Riddle reverses and tries for the cross arm breaker but Ruas blocks it. Ruas with a front face lock.

They get back to their feet. Ruas with a kick to the leg and Riddle with a kick and he goes for the leg. Ruas with a body scissors take down and Riddle gets to the ropes. Riddle with a kick to the leg and Ruas kicks back. Riddle with a kick to the side of hte head and a double leg take down by Ruas. Ruas with a punch and Riddle gets to his feet and he connects with strikes. Riddle with a kick but Ruas kicks back and he takes Riddle to the mat. Ruas with punches and Riddle kicks from the mat and hits a jumping knee and punches Ruas until the referee stops the match.

Winner: Matt Riddle (by referee stoppage)

After the match, someone attacks Riddle and we see that it is Killian Dain and Dain with a series of back sentons. Dain sends Riddle shoulder first into the ring post. Dain with a running clothesline on the floor. Dain kicks Riddle and connects with a forearm. Dain kicks and punches Riddle against the apron. Dain with a back senton onto Riddle’s back.

Dain sends Riddle up the ramp and he kicks Riddle in the ribs. Dain with another back senton and they go through the stage to the floor.

Referees come out to tell Dain to get to the back.

We go to commercial.

We are back with the NXT Tag Team Champions, the Street Profits. Montez says this is a special edition of Street Talk. Montez says there are some individuals who think the titles are theirs. They talk about Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish. Angelo says they disrespect them. You don’t own the place, the Street Profits do because they are the champs. Why couldn’t you beat them in the ladder match? Why don’t you come challenge us now? Angelo says they will still be tag team champions, and that is undisputed.

We see footage of Mia Yim attacking Marina Shafir at an NXT show over the weekend. Mia slams the door on Marina.

Bronson Reed says where he is from, you go to a pub to get into a fist fight. He looks forward to everyone trying to fight him. No one talks about Australian Strong Style and he is going to put everyone on notice.

Dexter Lumis versus Bronson Reed in a Breakout Tournament First Round Match

Lumis frames Reed in his sights before they lock up and Reed with a side head lock. Reed with a shoulder tackle and Lumis pops up. Reed with another shoulder tackle and he tries to slam Lumis but Dexter with an elbow that sends Reed to the floor. Lumis with a flip dive to the floor but Reed moves and Lumis lands on his feet. Lumis misses a clothesline on the floor and Reed with a cross body on the floor. They return to the ring. Lumis with a double thrust to the throat and then he sends Reed into the bottom rope. Lumis with punches and then he kicks Reed. Lumis grabs Reed by the ears and then works on the neck. Lumis sends Reed to the mat and hits a double sledge.

Lumis returns to the neck. Lumis tells the referee to ask Reed if he wants to give up. Reed with a forearm and Lumis with a knee. Reed with a power slam and both men are down. Reed with a forearm and elbow to the top of the head. Reed with a back body drop. Reed with a running body block and a back senton for a near fall. Reed goes for a belly-to-back suplex but Lumis lands on his feet. Lumis with a belly-to-back suplex followed by a leg drop for a near fall. Lumis goes to the turnbuckles and he goes up top but misses a swanton when Reed moves. Reed with a slam and the straps come down for Reed.

Reed goes up top and hits a frog splash for the three count.

Winner: Bronson Reed (advances to face Cameron Grimes)

We see Tyler Breeze at a photo shoot earlier today and he is asked by Cathy Kelley about how he will bounce back from his loss to Roderick Strong. Breeze says everyone has a group to help them so he has to adapt or…

The Forgotten Sons show up and talk about Tyler being a blast from the past. This is the new NXT where there are real men.

Tyler says he hasn’t been here for a while. He asks which one is Buddy Murphy.

They tell Tyler this is why he is never taken seriously.

Wesley says that Jaxson Ryker is a savage.

Tyler says he has seen everything.

We go to commercial.

We are back with a look at Io Shirai on last week’s show.

Io will face Kacy Catanzaro next week.

KUSHIDA versus Apollo Crews

They shake hands and they lock up with KUSHIDA going for the leg but Apollo Crews avoiding him. Crews with a waist lock and take down. KUSHIDA with a front face lock and he rides Crews and gets a near fall. KUSHIDA goes for a kick but he does not fully connect. They lock up and Crews with a side head lock and shoulder tackle. Crews flips over KUSHIDA and KUSHIDA with a cartwheel. Crews with a drop kick. Crews with an Irish whip and clothesline into the corner. Crews with an Irish whip but KUSHIDA slides to the floor and then goes back into the ring and he knocks Crews off the apron with a handspring kick against the ropes. KUSHIDA goes to the floor and he sends Crews back into the ring.

KUSHIDA with an arm bar and he works on the shoulder. Crews with a toss gutbuster and both men are down. Crews with a delayed vertical suplex for a near fall. Crews with a reverse chin lock. Crews with a back elbow and punch. Crews with more punches and Irish whip. Crews with a splash into the corner followed by an overhead belly-to-belly suplex for a near fall. Crews with forearms to KUSHIDA followed by an Irish whip but KUSHIDA avoids a Crews splash. KUSHIDA with forearms but Crews with a back heel kick. KUSHIDA catches Crews when trying to float over and KUSHIDA with a kick to the arm. KUSHIDA with forearms.

KUSHIDA with a handspring back elbow but Crews with an elbow. KUSHIDA with a hip toss and cartwheel followed by a drop kick. KUSHIDA with an enzuigiri to the back of the head followed by a slingshot tornado DDT for a near fall. KUSHIDA works on the arm and he kicks Crews in the arm and then Crews blocks a kick and Crews gets KUSHIDA on his shoulders but KUSHIDA escapes. Crews with a kick for a near fall. Crews with a series of German suplexes and the third one sends KUSHIDA to his chest. Crews with a standing shooting star press for a near fall.

Crews cannot press KUSHIDA due to the damage to the arm. KUSHIDA with a flaliner into the turnbuckles and a springboard rana but Crews rolls through for a sunset flip. KUSHIDA with a round kick but Crews with an enzuigiri and both men are down. Crews goes to the apron and up top. KUSHIDA recovers and connects with a forearm to stop Crews. KUSHIDA and Crews exchange forearms on the turnbuckles and KUSHIDA goes to the mat. KUSHIDA with a handspring kick and KUSHIDA comes off the turnbuckles into the cross arm breaker. Crews gets to his feet and tries to get to the ropes but KUSHIDA with the Hoverboard Lock and Crews taps.


After the match, KUSHIDA and Crews shake hands and hug.

We go to commercial.

We are back with comments from Keith Lee earlier today. He is asked about his tenure in NXT. Keith says he is looking for an opportunity. He was told opportunity would be at his feet. He was looked over and passed by. You have eight guys in a tournament for a title match and he did not have that when he entered NXT. Now we have a new face, Damian Priest and everyone is talking about him. Keith says maybe he should change the narrative. He should be the one they talk about.

Next week, Keith Lee faces Damian Priest.

NXT Men’s Champion Adam Cole makes his way to the ring.

Adam says for the past few weeks he has been traveling all over the world on the Bay Bay Championship Tour. What he has done is show you morons what a true champion is. What true power is. While he has been gone, his boys have been taking care of business. There is no question that there is an undisputed power switch happening in NXT. Adam did not say he would not be a fighting champion and he will put the title on the line. Adam says he will be putting his title on the line tonight and he will do it against this man…

We see a video of Johnny Gargano at AIW in Cleveland and him letting Twan hold the title belt.

Adam says he will be facing Twan Tucker.

Adam tells Twan it is good to see him again. He says he hopes Twan realizes he is getting the opportunity of a lifetime. There is no Undisputed Era. Adam says he will give Twan a fair chance to slap the taste out of his mouth.

Twan says that is too bad because he did not come alone.

Johnny Gargano’s music plays and he comes out with Twan and goes to the ring.

Adam and Johnny exchange punches. Cole has a super kick blocked and Gargano with a super kick. Cole goes to the floor and Cole goes into the crowd and Johnny punches him and Johnny follows Cole into the crowd. Cole sends Gargano into the guardrails and Cole goes into the bleachers but there is no escape. Gargano punches Cole and they go back down the bleachers but Gargano with punches and chops.

Cole with a thumb to the eyes but Gargano Irish whips Cole into the guardrails and Gargano punches Cole.

Officials finally make their way to stop Gargano.

Gargano is taken up the ramp onto the stage and Gargano with a cross body onto Cole on the floor. They continue to brawl and go back into the ring. Cole with a kick to the knee but Gargano with a super kick and a running super kick. Gargano applies the GargaNo Escape and Cole taps out as officials try to pull Gargano off Cole.

We go to credits.
