Rey Mysterio made history by winning the United States Title against Samoa Joe at WWE Money In The Bank pay-per-view event last night.
This marks the first time that Mysterio has held the secondary title in his legendary pro wrestling career. As a result, he has been placed in the history books as Mysterio joins the ranks of WWE Grand Slam Champions.
The criteria of this are winning the top world title, a tag team title, and two secondary titles. Mysterio is a former WWE Champion and World Heavyweight Champion, 4-time WWE Tag Team Champion, and finally a 2-time Intercontinental Champion and United States Champion.
Post-match, Joe beat down Rey as Dominic looked on. Thus, with the beatdown after the match and the fact that each star holds a win over each other appears to be going in the direction of a third match happening.
.@reymysterio’s first televised opportunity at the #USTitle was in 2004, against Carlito on SmackDown.Tonight, he won the title for the first time, also becoming a modern-era @WWE Grand Slam Champion.
