Vince McMahon

– A new SEC filing made by WWE today revealed that Vince McMahon sold 3,204,427 shares of company stock, worth around $270 million.

The filing noted that the sale was primarily to fund Vince’s Alpha Entertainment LLC, which oversees the XFL football league that will re-launch in 2020. Vince informed the company that he has no current plan to sell additional shares, and that he intends to continue his role as WWE Chairman and CEO for the foreseeable future.

The shares sold today represent 4.1% of the total outstanding shares of stock. Vince still owns 28,682,948 shares of WWE stock, which represents approximately 36.8% of the company’s total shares of stock and 80.1% of the total voting power.

– This week’s WWE SmackDown episode, featuring The New Day winning a Tag Team Gauntlet main event to earn Kofi Kingston’s WWE Title shot at WrestleMania 35, drew 2.393 million viewers. This is up from last week’s 2.208 million viewers.

This is the best SmackDown viewership of 2019. This is also the best SmackDown viewership going back to the SmackDown 1000 episode on October 16, which drew 2.545 million viewers. The last regular SmackDown episode that drew better was the post-SummerSlam 2018 episode on August 21, which drew 2.437 million viewers.

In comparison, Monday’s WWE RAW drew 2.589 million viewers, down from last week’s 2.695 million viewers, and the 5th lowest audience of the year.

– WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle took to Instagram today and sent a message of mutual respect to AJ Styles following their match on last night’s WWE SmackDown, which was Angle’s final blue brand match as a part of his Farewell Tour. Styles ended up winning the match by disqualification due to interference from Randy Orton.

“Mutual Respect. That’s the relationship I have with @ajstylesp1,” Angle wrote. “I wish our match would have gone without interruption from @randyorton but we don’t always get what we wish for. BUT we should always make the most out of any situation we are in. Stay positive!! My #farewelltour is going pretty well. Thank you #WWEUniverse #itstrue”
