Some of you may have noticed that WWE has made changes to the wrestler’s promos style on TV in recent weeks.
Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair are doing promos that seem more reality-based instead of something a writer would come up with. Dana Brooke’s promo on Raw also came off more real and was based on her real-life frustrations about her spot on the roster. The Randy Orton-AJ Styles segment on SmackDown Live was also rooted in reality even though both guys are friends in real life.
The changes have been refreshing to see because it’s easier for wrestlers to get themselves over when they can use their own words during promos to get their feud over.
We might see more of this in the future. As noted by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the company believes that the reality-based promos have been a success because people are buying that Ronda Rousey is an enemy of the fans and the business because of the things she has said about wrestling being scripted.
In reality, Rousey loves the wrestling business and her goal is to get Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch over as bigger stars before she takes her break from WWE.
