The Velveteen Dream defeat Johnny Gargano in the main event of tonight’s NXT episode to become the new NXT North American Champion.
This is Dream’s first title reign since debuting with the brand in 2016. Gargano won the title back at NXT “Takeover: Phoenix” during WWE Royal Rumble weekend on January 26, defeating Ricochet.
Triple H took to Twitter after the show and congratulated Dream on the big win.
Triple H wrote, “Believing you are absolutely everything you say you are is necessary if you want to be a champion. …backing it up is what ACTUALLY makes you one. Congratulations to the NEW @WWENXT North American Champion, @VelveteenWWE. #DreamOVER”
