WWE RAW Results - January 21, 2019

We begin tonight’s show with a tribute video for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The video includes a ten-bell salute.

We are live from the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, as the Universal Champion Brock Lesnar makes his way to the ring with Paul Heyman.

Paul introduces himself and his client. Paul says it is time to get down to business. Last week, on Raw, in front of a global television audience, Finn Balor pinned John Cena. Paul says this ws no fluke. There was no controversy. Finn Balor stepped up and seized the moment. He seized the moment so much that John Cena, the second greatest of all time, took the mic and said that even he believes in Finn Balor. So much so that the entire WWE Universe has stood up and said that they believe in Finn Balor. You should. Paul says he believes in Finn Balor too.

No knocking on the man, Finn Balor seized the moment against John Cena and that seems to be the theme of his entire career. Finn thinks he will show up at Chase Field and do the same thing to take advantage of fate and circumstance. He will be facing a man who was training to fight Braun Strowman. Brock will be defending the title against a man he has not trained for on short notice against a man with a different style than Braun Strowman. Paul says that is why Finn believes that he will be the next Universal Champion.

You should listen to Finn because his voice is the voice that matters. Paul says that his voice is the voice that martyrs. This Sunday, at the Royal Rumble, his client, Brock Lesnar, will turn Finn Balor into a martyr. Sacrificed for the sin of making you believe that he can conquer the unconquerable conqueror. Sacrifice for the sin of believing that he’s got what it takes to take what Brock’s got. Sacrifice for the sin of Balor believing that Finn is the Reaper who can pull off the miracle of beating Brock Lesnar.

Paul says this is your spoiler alert. Even miracles fear Brock Lesnar. This Sunday night, in Phoenix, Arizona, when his client puts to bed this ridiculous notion that Finn Balor even belongs in the ring with the beast, it will be FInn Balor looking up saying Oh My God, I Believe in Brock Lesnar.

Vince McMahon’s music plays and he makes his way to the ring.

Vince says Paul has gone a little soft tonight. That was a way to drum up business. Vince says Finn Balor versus Brock Lesnar, the only way to believe in that is to believe in David and Goliath. Vince says that David was reincarnated as Finn Balor. Any fan who believes that Finn can beat Brock, you believe in fairy tales.

Braun Strowman’s music interrupts and he makes his way to the ring. Vince wants to know what Braun is doing out here.

Braun gets in the ring and he says last Monday was the worst night of his life thanks to Baron Corbin. He cost him $100,000 and his match against Brock Lesnar. Braun says that was the luckiest night of Brock’s life. If you still have that title after Sunday night, he will be waiting and he will rip off Brock’s arms like he ripped up Vince’s limo.

Finn Balor’s music plays and he makes his way to the ring.

Finn says he earned his opportunity to face Brock. Finn tells Vince that he knows Vince does not think Finn can beat Brock, but he knows that he can beat Brock and reclaim his title.

Braun says he knows he could have beaten Brock. Braun says he doesn’t know if Finn can win, but he better.

Finn thanks Braun for the support, but he tells Braun to stay out of his business because Finn says he will do something Braun hasn’t done and that is beat BRock.

Brock and Paul leave while Finn says that David stood in the shadow of the giant and they laughed in his face. Finn says that they didn’t know who David was and what he was made of. Goliath fell face down in the dirt. No one was laughing then. Vince says he has an idea. What if Brock takes a seat so we can see a real life David and Goliath thing with Braun Strowman versus Finn Balor. The match is on but first… We go to commercial!

We cannot focus on the things we do not have but the things we do have. Seth says he will focus on this. He is not as big as Drew McIntyre or as strong as Bobby Lashley. He came from a small town and his folks were working class.
