There’s been a lot of talk about the changing wrestling landscape for 2019. Ring Of Honor has begun signing new talent to their roster as they prepare for the exodus of The Elite. WWE is also preparing for big changes as they continue to reach out to top independent talent. The word going around is that they are looking to sign as many names as possible so they can prevent them from joining the All Elite Wrestling promotion.
Two names that you shouldn’t expect to go anywhere anytime soon are Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. During a recent PWInsider Elite audio show, Mike Johnson noted the rumors going around but said that they are under contract with WWE until the fall of 2019.
“There’s been a lot of talk about Gallows and Anderson,” Johnson said. “There’s been some speculation on them but I’m told that their deals aren’t up until the fall of 2019.”
Of course, this won’t do much to end the rumors about their future because they could always join All Elite Wrestling, or any other promotion, in late 2019. AEW will probably not launch until late 2019 or early 2020 at the earliest.
Johnson briefly touched on Dolph Ziggler’s contract. Nothing is 100 percent confirmed but it does look like he is locked in under a long-term deal. WWE’s recent contract offers and renewals have been for 5 years, with the exception of Rey Mysterio who is signed for two years with an opt-out clause that allows him to leave after 18 months if he chooses to.
Johnson said the following about Ziggler’s contract situation: “Dolph Ziggler it would appear he’s signed a new deal, based on how he’s being used. But we never heard that 100 percent that he has put pen to paper.”
