Underutilized Main Roster Talent Could Move Back to NXT

Triple H

During a Q&A session from the media ahead of Saturday’s NXT Takeover, Triple H talked about the plans to expand with more Performance Centers around the world.

“I think in the early part of next year we’ll be making some big announcements on different movement and markets that I think will be very impressive to people,” he said.

Hunter was asked if they have reached the point where some talent stays in NXT as mainstays. This is something that is on the mind of many wrestlers these days because they have more wrestlers under contract than any other point in WWE history.

He said, “I think you could be at a place where you see main level talent stay at NXT. I think we’re also at the point where you can see some talent on Raw and SmackDown that has had success or not had success or for whatever reason aren’t being utilized, they could go back into NXT.” He noted that he sees NXT as a third brand and “I think you could see a lot of these talent become mainstays in the brand that they’re in — NXT included.”

Hunter was asked about the potential to increase the number of NXT Takeover specials and the length of the shows. He likes how things are now because the Takeover shows leave the fans wanting more instead of being burned out. He added, “I do envision us probably doing some things in the UK with the brand there and doing some large events there, hopefully.”

He was asked about the decision to do 4 matches for TakeOver: WarGames instead of the usual 5 matches. Hunter said some matches (2-out-of-3 falls match for the NXT Women’s Title and the WarGames match) needed more time. He said they could add a new match but it was a judgment call and we’ll see on Saturday if the decision was correct.

Things covered in the conference call:

– An update on his pectoral injury
– How WarGames will be different than last year
– More talk about international expansion
– How NXT is a third brand and not necessarily just developmental
– Some of their recent hirings that are over 30
– The culture of the Performance Center and more
– Is it possible for NXT UK to tour in the United States?
