Triple H took part in a post-show interview after the TakeOver show where he was asked about the new Johnny Gargano. While comparing him to a pit bull, Triple H said that an unhinged Gargano has a lot of potential but he’s at a point where you never know what he might have in him next.
He said that Gargano is a danger to the rest of the NXT roster at this point. There were a few times during his match against Aleister Black where he appeared to lose it and he’s already at his breaking point. Apparently, Triple H event hinted that there could be more to come.
“His hero role hasn’t been panning out for him for a long time. I don’t know where this is going to put him and a guy that’s spiraling down and out of control. I don’t think we’ve seen him hit bottom yet. I wouldn’t want to be the rest of the roster with Johnny Gargano.”
“He’s a smaller guy and he’s a bit of an underdog, but he has a dark side and when that dark side comes out he is a pit bull and if we haven’t seen that true full side of Johnny Gargano then when we do it’s going to be something different.”
Matt Riddle had a very quick match against Kassius Ohno at tonight’s TakeOver WarGames. The WWE COO went on to speak about Riddle’s potential in NXT.
“Don’t tell Matt Riddle you’re gonna knock him out because as fast as the words ‘Knock you out’ came out of Kassius Ohno’s mouth, he was laying in the middle of the ring and I’m still not sure he knows that match started. What a TakeOver debut moment for Riddle walking out in LA and just making quick work of a veteran like Kassius Ohno. That’s making a mark, that’s making a statement.”
“Charisma, all of it. It comes out of everything about him. You have a tendency to look at him and say this kid is aloof and he doesn’t take this seriously. But boy, when that bell rings he turns it on and there is an aggressive streak and a level of intensity that comes out of him that very few have. He’s going to be a force to be reckoned with, that’s for sure.”
Triple H then mentioned how great Velveteen Dream is and how scary it is that he is so young at this point.
“Here’s where I sit with Velveteen Dream. Unbelievable. Everything about him is not to be believed about how good he is and then I remember that he is only 23-years-old. 23-years-old, to take the champion with as much experience as he has, Tommaso Ciampa, to take him to that limit. To make a little mistake and to lose in what could have gone either way at 23-years-old. To have the whole world thinking this is yours at 23 it’s scary how good he will be.”
“It’s scary to think how dominant on every level he’ll be. If he’s not there now in a few years, it’s crazy to think that.”
