WWE Smackdown Results - October 30, 2018

We are in Atlanta, Georgia and WWE Champion AJ Styles makes his way to the ring to start the show.

AJ says before we get things started, he wants to get something off his chest. He would like Daniel Bryan to come out. Daniel Bryan obliges and he makes his way to the ring.

AJ says after what happened last week, AJ says he needs to apologize. AJ says he is sorry.

Daniel says there is no need to apologize because they are fighting for the same prize. Daniel says he respects AJ as a man and a competitor. When he looks at AJ right now, he does not see a friend or a respected colleague. Daniel says all he sees is the WWE Championship. Daniel says that one thing that kept him fighting was the WWE Championship and AJ stands in the way. Nothing personal, but Daniel says he will take that title from you and he will do it on Friday at Crown Jewel.

AJ says that is good to know, but AJ says Daniel did not let him finish. AJ says he is sorry because he lied to Daniel last week. That Pele Kick was not an accident, it was meant for you. Nothing personal, but he looks forward to doing it again this Friday.

Daniel acts incredulous that it was intentional. Daniel says he does not lie. He says he feels like hitting AJ on purpose.

AJ asks Daniel what is stopping him. AJ says they don’t have to wait until Crown Jewel, he can defend the title right here.

Shane McMahon’s music plays and he Shane-O Shuffles on the stage before he says that we have seen this before. Two competitors who want to go at it right here and right now but it never transpires. Shane says he is back and what is going to happen is AJ Styles is going to face Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship right now. A “yes!” chant starts up. Shane says that match is happening right now. He calls for a referee. Tom says Crown Jewel is coming early. AJ and Bryan have words in the middle of the ring as we go to commercial.

WWE Title Match: Daniel Bryan vs. AJ Styles

Back from the break and we get formal ring introductions from Greg Hamilton. They size each other up and trade holds as the bell rings. Bryan takes AJ down in a hold and stomps on his arm. AJ comes back and they continue to trade holds as Bryan focuses on the left arm. AJ dumps Bryan to the apron. Bryan taunts AJ and comes back in through the ropes. Fans chants for AJ as they lock up again. Bryan takes it to the corner. They break but Bryan shoves AJ. AJ shoves back. Bryan shoves him again. AJ with another shove. Bryan grabs the left arm and goes to work on it again, sending AJ into the turnbuckles arm-first.

Bryan with kicks to the arm now. AJ turns it around with a chop in the corner. Bryan counters a move in the corner and they run the ropes together. AJ nails a dropkick and Bryan goes to the floor for a breather. AJ launches himself to the floor with a forearm but Bryan moves. Bryan goes back in the ring and runs the ropes, nailing a suicide dive to send AJ into the barrier. Bryan clutches his knee on the floor as we go to commercial.

We are back and Styles with a shoulder in the corner followed by a chop. Styles with more chops. Bryan with a forearm and chops followed by a kick in the corner. Bryan with an arm drag and then he wrings the arm into the mat. Bryan with kicks to the injured arm. Styles blocks a kick and Bryan with a dragon screw. Styles slams Bryan’s leg into the mat and hits a KneeDT. Styles with a knee drop to the injured leg. AJ kicks Styles in the hamstring and drops an elbow on the knee. Styles continues to work on the leg but Bryan does what he can to escape and Bryan goes for a cross arm breaker. Styles slams the knee into the mat and then kicks Bryan in the back of the leg.

Styles kicks Bryan in the leg. Styles with an atomic drop to the injured leg. Styles drops Bryan’s injured knee on the turnbuckles. Styles with an elbow drop to the injured knee. Bryan kicks Styles in the back and connects with a European uppercut. Bryan runs into an elbow and Styles goes for a moonsault into a reverse DDT but Bryan blocks it and connects with knees followed by a cravate suplex. Bryan with kicks to Styles and he fakes the round kick to get Styles to duck and Bryan with a round kick. Bryan charges into a drop kick from Styles and both men are down.

Bryan drops Styles on the turnbuckles when AJ goes for a Phenomenal Forearm. Bryan set for a belly-to-back superplex but Styles is able to counter and turn it into a lateral press. Both men are down and we go to commercial.

We are back and Bryan applies the Yes Lock but Styles gets to the ropes. Bryan tries to suplex Styles back into the ring and Styles blocks it and suplexes Bryan over the top rope to the floor. Styles with an atomic drop onto the announce table. Bryan with an Irish whip that sends Styles into the ring steps. They return to the ring before the ten count. Bryan with a running drop kick into the turnbuckles but Bryan goes down instead of landing on his feet. Bryan sets for a second one and hits it. Bryan puts Styles on the turnbuckles and sets for a Frankensteiner but Styles blocks it and sets for a Super Styles Clash. Bryan counters into a rana from the turnbuckles.

Styles with a forearm in the corner but Bryan sets Styles to the apron. Bryan with a kick to Styles in the ropes and then he pulls on the arm as he wraps it in the ropes. Bryan with kicks to the chest while Styles is caught in the ropes. Styles blocks a kick and hits a dragon screw. Styles goes for the Phenomenal Forearm but Bryan blocks it and he hits a butterfly suplex into a cross arm breaker. Bryan turns it into a Yes Lock. Styles looks like he is going to tap but Styles with a rollup. Bryan with a triangle on Styles. Styles with a Styles Clash.

Styles with a Calf Crusher and Daniel fights to get to the ropes but Daniel has to tap out.

Winner: AJ Styles

After the match, Styles recovers as his music hits. Styles raises the title as the referee raises his arm. Bryan recovers and pulls himself up as AJ looks on. Bryan extends his hand for a shake and AJ shakes his hand. They embrace and AJ raises Bryan’s arm. Samoa Joe hits the ring out of nowhere and attacks AJ from behind. Bryan leaves the ring as Joe unloads on AJ and drops him in the middle of the ring with the Coquina Clutch. Bryan runs back in and beats on Joe to break the hold. Joe takes the leg out and works it over. Joe with the Coquina Clutch on Bryan now.

– We take a look at the brackets for the World Cup.

Backstage:

Jeff Hardy says Banksy once said that artists will pay for their work. Jeff says the risks he has taken has provided his self portrait. At the World Cup, he will illustrate the masterpiece of his life and he will show that he is the best in the world.

Backstage:

Miz says while Jeff Hardy paints by numbers, he is told by his flawless wife and is told that he is the best husband in the world. His daughter tells him that he is the best father in the world. He is told that he is the best reality star in the world. Miz says that he is the best superstar in the world and he will have the trophy to prove it.

– We see crew members bringing out Halloween decorations for tonight’s Trick or Street Fight. Back to commercial.

Backstage:

Paige is in the office and Charlotte Flair enters. Paige says she wanted to talk to Charlotte. Paige says that her match at Evolution was amazing. Paige says he has a question for Charlotte. Will she be the captain of the Women’s Team at Survivor Series. Charlotte says she does not think she is the right woman for the job. Paige says that Charlotte said don’t let success get to your head and don’t let failure get to your heart. Paige tells Charlotte to think about it.

– We have a video package for the match between Degeneration X and the Brothers of Destruction.

Trick or Street Fight
Big E vs. Cesaro

The New Day make their way to the ring dressed as The Brood. Big E is Gangrel while Xavier is Edge and Kofi is Christian. The Bar make their way to the ring dressed as the Smackdown Tag Team Champions and they are joined by Big Show. We go to commercial.

Big E blocks a kendo stick shot and hits an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Big E hits Cesaro with the kendo stick. Sheamus stops Big E and then everyone else gets involved. Big Show grabs Kofi and Woods by the throat and sends them over the top rope to the floor. Show sends Big E to the floor. Sheamus throws some pancakes at Kofi and then he hits a Finlay slam on the floor. Show dunks Woods into the vat to bob for apples. Cesaro with a Alpamare Water Slide onto pumpkins for a near fall. Cesaro tries to suplex Big E through a table propped up in the corner but Big E blocks it and Big E suplexes Cesaro onto the pumpkins.

Sheamus with a knee to Big E and then he tries to send Big E into the table. Big E sends Sheamus through the table in the corner. Woods with a baseball slide to Show and then Show catches Kofi by the throat. Woods and Kofi spit red liquid in Show’s face. Big E with a back body drop and Cesaro lands on his feet. Big E spits red liquid in Cesaro’s face and hits the Big Ending for the three count.

Winner: Big E

Backstage:

Shane McMahon is in his office with the four men who will be representing Smackdown at the World Cup. Rey says he knows how vicious Randy Orton is but he is here to keep hope alive for everyone who was underestimated. Randy says he is vicious and he will show Rey how vicious he is tonight. Then on Friday, he will show why Rey never should have come back. Jeff says that Randy can be cocky but he will beat Miz to show that he is the best. Miz says you won’t be flying to the top because you will crash and burn. Miz says he has carried Smackdown and it will continue. Rey is Power Ranger, Jeff is a missing member of Insane Clown Posse, and Randy is… Randy is cool. Shane says the worst thing that can happen to him is to have his sister call a Raw superstar the Best in the World. Shane says if the winner of the Smackdown bracket does not win it all, the person who loses in the finals will not have a home on Smackdown.

– We go to the ring and out comes WWE United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura. Tom says this will be a title match, despite the earlier non-title announcement. We go to commercial.

– We are back with a look at Samoa Joe attacking AJ Styles after his match against Daniel Bryan.

Backstage:

Paige asks AJ Styles if he should be in the trainer’s office. AJ says he wants Samoa Joe at Crown Jewel since he had his contractually obligated match against Daniel Bryan. Paige asks why should they reward Joe for what he did to AJ’s family. AJ says they could have arrested him before and he wants Joe. Paige gives the match.

WWE United States Title Match: R-Truth vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

Nakamura with a knee in the corner and he kicks Truth. Nakamura mocks Truth. Truth with a head scissors take down. Truth does some of his own dancing. Truth tells Nakamura to COME ON and Truth with a hip toss and clothesline that sends Nakamura over the top rope to the floor. Carmella comes into the ring for a DANCE PARTY!!!

Truth goes to the apron when Nakamura moves on a plancha attempt. Nakamura kicks Truth and then hits a running knee to the side of the head. Nakamura with a knee drop off the apron. Nakamura with a rear chin lock. Nakamura chokes Truth in the ropes. Truth punches Nakamura but Nakamura with a kick and punch. Nakamura with a snap mare and knee drop. Nakamura with an abdominal stretch. Truth with a hip toss. Nakamura runs into an elbow and then a boot. Truth with a clothesline or two. Truth with a split and a jumping side kick.

Truth with a corkscrew flying forearm for a near fall. Truth misses a scissors kick and Nakamura with a round kick. Truth with an Irish whip but he misses a splash. Nakamura with a kick to the back of the neck and then Nakamura with a running knee to the midsection. Nakamura gets a near fall when Truth grabs the ropes. Truth lands on his feet on a suplex attempt but Nakamrua with more kicks to the neck followed by a knee to the back of the neck. Nakamura sets for Kinshasa and hits it for the three count.

Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura

– Becky Lynch is in the back and we go to commercial.

In the Arena:

We are back and the Smackdown Womens’ Champion Becky Lynch makes her way to the ring as we are reminded that Becky will face Ronda Rousey at Survivor Series.

Becky reminds us of what happened to her at Evolution but she got up. Becky says she is the Last Woman Standing. When Evolution was over and all is said and done, there was only one woman who was the rightful main eventer and it is her. Beating Charlotte Flair, she proved that she is the man. That applies to the Raw and Smackdown locker rooms. Becky asks what is next for the biggest superstar in WWE?

Becky asks if you want the infamous Ronda Rousey? You call yourself the baddest woman on the planet, but what planet? Your opponents were defeated when the bell rang. Becky says she traveled the world to smash people like her. Becky says she did not come here to cosplay or be a reality star, she is going to go to Survivor Series to rip off Ronday’s arm.

– The announcers hype the Crown Jewel card again. Tom leads us to a video package for Brock Lesnar vs. Braun Strowman for the vacant WWE Universal Title.

– We go to the ring for tonight’s main event and out first comes The Miz. Back to commercial.

Backstage:

We are back and Samoa Joe asks AJ if he thought they were done? Do your kids sleep soundly at night and don’t have nightmares about Uncle Joe? Is Wendy double and triple locking the door? When it was said that you would defend your title tonight, Joe says he had to pick up his pen and write their final chapter. Joe says you will be on the ground while Joe is raising the title above his head. The end.

The Miz and Randy Orton vs. Jeff Hardy and Rey Mysterio

We go back to the ring for the main event and The Miz waits as partner Randy Orton makes his way out. Jeff Hardy is out first for his team. Rey Mysterio is out last. Rey hits the corners to pose as we go back to commercial.

Orton and Hardy start things off and lock up. Hardy with a side head lock and shoulder tackle. Orton goes for a hip toss but Hardy blocks it and hits a hip toss for a near fall. Hardy works on the arm and shoulder. Hardy with a jaw breaker and he sends Orton’s head into the turnbuckles. Hardy with a kick and Miz interferes when Hardy goes for the Twist of Fate. Hardy with a reverse atomic drop to Miz and a leg drop. Hardy with an elbow and Miz pulls Hardy off the turnbuckles.

Orton and Rey stare down each other and Miz punches Hardy while the referee is out of position. Orton with a kick and then he runs his boot against Hardy’s face. Miz tags in and Miz with a boot to the head and he gets a near fall. Miz with a rear chin lock. Hardy with elbows but Miz pulls Hardy down by the hair. Miz with a knee in the corner and Orton chokes Hardy while the referee deals with Rey. Orton tags back in and he catapults Hardy’s throat into the bottom rope. Orton with a forearm across the throat.

Orton chokes Hardy in the ropes and the referee warns Orton. Orton with the Garvin Stomp. Hardy with punches but Orton with a thumb to the eye followed by a drop kick for a near fall. Orton with a reverse chin lock. Hardy with elbows but Orton with a forearm to the back. Hardy with a boot followed by Whisper in the Wind and both men are down. Miz and Rey tag in and Rey with a springboard seated senton. Miz with a sunset flip but you don’t sunset flip Rey and Rey rolls through and kicks Miz. Rey with a hesitation DDT for a near fall. Miz with a tilt-a-whirl back breaker followed by Reality Check for a near fall.

Miz with a boot and then Rey with an arm drag out of a wheelbarrow move. Rey with a rana to send Miz into the turnbuckles. Hardy with Poetry in Motion. Rey sends Miz into the ropes and Rey hits a 619 and Hardy with a Swanton for the three count.

Winners: Rey Mysterio and Jeff Hardy

After the match, Orton gives Hardy an RKO. Rey comes off the ropes and Orton with an RKO. Miz is the final victim of an RKO as we go to credits.
