WWE Smackdown Results - October 2, 2018

Tonight’s WWE SmackDown opens live from the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon. Tom Phillips welcomes us. He’s joined by Corey Graves and Byron Saxton.

– We go right to the ring and SmackDown General Manager Paige is waiting with a mic. Paige says she was told this job would be many things before she took it but she didn’t think she would be put in a position like this. She talks about the heinous crime Samoa Joe committed last week and shows us a replay of Joe outside of the home of WWE Champion AJ Styles.

Paige says that Samoa Joe never entered the house and charges were filed for trespassing. Paige says that she talked to officials and they came to the decision that Samoa Joe should be fired.

Paige says that she talked to AJ Styles to see if he was okay. No man should be in that situation with his family. AJ wanted to have the charges dropped and not have Samoa Joe fired. He said that firing would not be enough for Joe. AJ says he wanted to dish out the punishment. The match is still on for Saturday. Paige has a video from AJ Styles.

AJ is at home and he apologizes for not being at Smackdown but with what has gone on, he did not think he would be able to perform tonight. AJ says this is bigger than WWE. AJ says he doesn’t want to do something stupid or emotional and regret it. AJ says that is why he is at home and he is not leaving until he gets confirmation that Joe is on a plane to Australia. AJ says he has four amazing kids and they need him right now. He says he needs to be at home. He says he needs to be here for his daughter because she has been waking up in the middle of the night looking under the bed or in the closet for Uncle Joe like he is the boogeyman.

AJ says this will end. This needs to end. You are not coming back from the Land Down Under. AJ says that is exactly where he is going to put him. AJ says he is not going to put Joe’s body in a casket and putting dirt on it. He is going to bury him alive.

– We go to the announcers and they hype the No DQ, No Countout match between Joe and Styles. Still to come tonight, Aiden English has video evidence against Lana. Also, Becky Lynch has a Super Show-Down surprise.

R-Truth and Carmella vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas and Zelina Vega

We go to the ring and out comes R-Truth and Carmella rapping to the ring. We go to commercial.

Carmella and Vega start things off and lock up. Vega with a side head lock but Carmella with a head lock of her own. Vega pulls Carmella down by the hair and Vega moonwalks. Carmella with a drop kick and Vega’s head hits the ropes. Carmella with a moonwalk of her own. Vega sends Carmella into the turnbuckles and kicks Carmella. Vega with a choke in the ropes and gets a near fall. Carmella with a jaw breaker and Truth tags in.

Truth with a clothesline but Almas with a kick. Truth with a rana. Truth goes for a splash into the corner and Almas with a waist lock after catching Truth. Almas goes into the ropes for a bit of Tranquilo and Vega joins him. Carmella and Truth do splits. Almas and Vega go to the floor as we go to a DANCE BREAK.

Truth goes to the floor and he chases Almas. Almas with a knee to the back when Truth gets back into the ring. Almas with an Irish whip and he goes for a running knee into the corner but Truth moves and Almas hits the turnbuckles and goes to the floor. Truth punches Almas on the floor and they return to the ring. ALmas with an Irish whip and Truth floats over. Almas with back handsprings and Truth kicks him in the chest. Truth goes for a suplex but Almas drops down to block it. Truth with punches and Almas goes to the apron and he drops Truth on the top rope.

Truth with a punch but Almas with a boot and spinning back elbow for a near fall. Almas chokes Truth in the ropes and then he applies an arm bar. Almas with knees to the midsection and he gets a near fall. Almas returns to the arm and applies a Fujiwara arm bar. Truth with a jumping leg lariat and both men are down. Carmella tags in and she hits clotheslines on Vega and then Carmella with an atomic drop and she sends Vega into the turnbuckles. Carmella with a head scissors take down. Carmella with a Bronco Buster and a flatliner for a near fall when Almas breaks up the cover.

Almas tells Carmella to be tranquilo and Carmella goes for a kick but Almas blocks it. Truth punches Almas and clotheslines him over the top rope to the floor. Truth with a plancha onto Almas. Vega avoids a kick and Carmella gets Vega to tap out with Code of Silence.

Winners: R Truth and Carmella

Backstage:

Paige walks in the back and Tye Dillinger tells her that he wants Randy Orton. Paige tells Tye ‘hello too’ and Tye says hello. Paige reminds Tye about the match with Nakamura. Tye says he remembers what happened after the match and he wants Orton. Paige reminds Tye that we have not seen Jeff since Hell in a Cell. Tye says this is something that he has to do. Paige says she does not understand men, but she will give Tye the match.

The New Day make their way to the ring and Mr. Bootyworth has pancakes with him. Back to commercial.

In the Arena:

Big E says they proudly present the pilot episode of New Day Cooks. Kofi starts off with a word from their sponsors. Big E starts to talk about IcoPro and Xavier stops him. Xavier talks about Super Show Down. Kofi says they have not been hitting the last few weeks. The Bar has had their number and what they need is a strong dose of positivity. Kofi introduces the man who is responsible for cooking all of the pancakes they disperse to the WWE Universe every week. Tonight is a special night because he will share the special recipe with all of you.

Kofi introduces Mr. Bootyworth.

Big E allows for the buttery and syrupy voice of Mr. Bootyworth penetrate your ears.

Before that can happen, Sheamus and Cesaro come out and Sheamus says another week of Smackdown and another week of The New Day acting like children. Instead of preparing for their match on Saturday, they are playing with food.

Xavier tells Sheamus and Cesaro they are ruining this.

Cesaro asks how can you ruin something that is already awful. Sheamus reminds everyone that Cesaro is from Switzerland and the Swiss know about making delicious pastries. Cesaro says that people back home call him ‘Chef’. Sheamus says he knows how to make the baking process better. Sheamus knocks over the table and Kofi with a pendulum kick to Cesaro and they set for Midnight Hour on Cesaro but Sheamus throws flour in Kofi’s face. They hit a double back breaker on Kofi after sending Big E into the ring post. Sheamus and Cesaro with a spike Air Raid Crash.

Sheamus and Cesaro see Bootyworth in the corner and he is unable to get away. Sheamus tries to calm him down and they pour the batter into his hat and puts it on his head. Sheamus keeps him from leaving the ring and the rest of the batter is poured on his head. The Bar stands tall over the title belts as their music hits.

– Still to come, Aiden English has video evidence against Lana. Also, Tye Dillinger vs. Randy Orton.

– The announcers plug the new WWE 2K19 video game and send us to the new “Never Say Never” commercial for the game.

Randy Orton vs. Tye Dillinger

Back from the break and Tye Dillinger is out. Randy Orton is out next and Dillinger stares him down.

Dillinger meets Orton at ringside and unloads on him before the bell. He brings it back in the ring but Orton gets the upperhand and beats Dillinger into the corner. Dillinger fights back and clotheslines Orton over the top to the floor. Dillinger follows but Orton kicks him and slams him face first into the announce table. Orton tries to slam Tye on top of the table but he blocks it. Tye fights back and slams Orton on the table. Dillinger mounts Orton on top of the table and pounds on him. Orton counters and tosses Dillinger over the barrier. Orton goes on and hits the draping DDT from the barrier to the floor.

Orton removes part of the steel ring steps as the referee warns him. Orton takes one of the turnbuckle bolts and places Tye’s finger in it. Orton twists and bends the finger around as Dillinger screams in pain. Orton finally lets go and leaves Dillinger down in pain.

Backstage:

Shelton Benjamin is in the locker room and Miz stops by and he tells Shelton ‘you’re welcome’. Miz says he agrees that Shelton is overlooked. He is a world class athlete and he is the real deal. Miz put in a call and got Shelton a match against Goat Boy. Miz asks Shelton if he is going to beat Daniel Bryan.

Shelton says in a word… yes! Miz says he knows he will win but he says Shelton needs to do more than win. He needs to make a statement. Shelton says his statement is that he has been sitting on the bench waiting for the opportunity to show the world who he is. Daniel is unlucky candidate number one.

– Aiden asks the production assistant if the production truck is ready. He says that what he is going to show needs to be in High Def. NEXT! We go to commercial.

In the Arena:

We are back and Rusev’s music plays and he comes to the ring with Lana but they are not in the mood for the Machka Leap.

Rusev says two weeks ago, Aiden English attacked him and it ended their team and their friendship. Then he took it a step further and said there was some video involving his wife and the city of MIlwaukee. Rusev says that makes him want to tear his pale body apart. First, he tells Aiden to come out like a man and show everyone this bogus evidence.

Aiden comes out and says the evidence you have been waiting for is right here… but first, a little back story. Did you know that MIlwaukee is the largest city in Wisconsin and borders two of the Great Lakes.

Lana says Aiden is stalling and he has nothing.

Aiden says he is providing context. Milwaukee is not the forgettable city that you and Rusev talk about. Milwaukee has been the setting for so many shows and movies. He mentions Laverne and Shirley, Happy Days, Love Actually, and BASEketball.

It is time for One Night in Milwaukee.

We see Aiden in a hotel room rehearsing for his ring entrance performance and there is a knock on the door. Lana enters and she tells Aiden that she has been thinking about something for a long time. She says it is important that she says it out loud. She says “I want you…” but Aiden stops the footage.

It looks like Rusev is asking Lana what’s up with the video. English says he wants to show us the rest of the video but he can’t yet because of legal reasons. English says he’s entertaining a large offer from TMZ and he wouldn’t want to… cheat on them. Rusev and Lana argue in the ring and Lana says it’s not how it looks. Rusev exits the ring and runs up the ramp, chasing English to the back. Lana stands alone in the ring and fans boo her.

– The announcers talk WWE Super Show-Down and replay footage from last night’s RAW with Kane, The Undertaker, Triple H and WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels.

– Still to come, Becky Lynch has a surprise for Super Show-Down.

Daniel Bryan vs. Shelton Benjamin

We go to the ring and out comes Daniel Bryan as Greg Hamilton does the introductions. We go to commercial.

We are back and Rusev is looking for Aiden English and someone narcs out Aiden. Lana tells Rusev there is more and she has to tell him. Rusev says they are not doing this here.

Miz joins the commentary team.

The bell rings and Benjamin quickly takes control and works Bryan around the ring. Bryan turns it around with kicks in the corner. Benjamin cuts the momentum off and drops Bryan, focusing on the ribs. Benjamin with a 2 count. More back and forth now. Bryan goes for the Yes Lock but Benjamin breaks it by getting the bottom rope.

They end up back on the floor and Benjamin launches Bryan between the apron and the barrier a few times, manhandling him. Benjamin lifts Bryan and drops his ribs over the barrier. We go back to commercial.

Bryan with a running knee off the apron. Bryan goes up top for a diving head butt, but he misses the target fully, but does get a bit of Benjamin on the impact. Benjamin with a bear hug. Bryan with a European uppercut. Benjamin with an Irish whip and Bryan flips out of the corner but Benjamin with a Saito suplex for a near fall. Bryan with a running drop kick into the turnbuckles. Bryan with a second drop kick into the corner. Benjamin with a running knee and German suplex for a near fall. Benjamin puts Bryan on the turnbuckles and he climbs up and gets Bryan on his shoulders.

Bryan with elbows to escape and he hits a Frankensteiner. Bryan with kicks to the chest and he sets for the round kick but misses. Benjamin misses the dragon whip and Bryan with a kick. Bryan sets for the flying boot but Miz gets on the apron and Bryan knocks Miz off the apron. Bryan charges at Benjamin and Shelton with Paydirt for the three count.

Winner: Shelton Benjamin

After the match, Miz takes off his jacket and he connects with knees to the midsection. Miz sends Bryan midsection first into the announce table three times. Miz sends Bryan into the ring and he sets for the Skull Crushing Finale and hits it.

– We take a look at the possible issues with the Shield as they developed on Raw. Back to commercial.

– We are back and Naomi is in the ring and she introduces a video about Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Asuka vs. Peyton Royce

We go to the ring and out comes Asuka. Out next are The IIconics, Peyton Royce with Billie Kay. We get a sidebar video of The IIconics talking about returning to Australia for Super Show-Down this weekend, where they will face Asuka and Naomi. Naomi waits at ringside as Asuka watches The IIconics enter the ring. Back to commercial.

The match is joined in progress and Royce with forearms and a boot to the head. Asuka runs into a back heel kick but Asuka with a rollup for a near fall. Asuka and Peyton miss round kicks and Royce hits a Widow’s Peak for a near fall. Asuka misses a missile drop kick and Peyton gets a near fall. Peyton with a reverse chin lock. Asuka with elbows and punches followed by kicks to the leg to get out of the hold. Asuka misses a running kick and Peyton with a rollup for a near fall.

Royce returns to the reverse chin lock. Asuka with a missile drop kick for a near fall. Asuka with a body scissors into an ankle lock. Billie grabs Peyton but Naomi takes out Billie. Asuka with an Asuka Lock and Peyton taps out.

Winner: Asuka

In the Arena:

We are back and WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch makes her way to the ring.

Becky says six weeks ago she stopped waiting and started taking. Since that night in Brooklyn, she has been the best thing about Smackdown. Since she ran through the entire locker room and toppled the Queen, she runs this division. It is the most relevant thing in WWE. She learned that being kind and being patient gets you nothing but stabbed in the back and treated like a fool. Not no more. She is relentless. She strikes first.

We take a look at what has happened since SummerSlam between Becky and Charlotte.

Becky asks if that was nice and she says she could watch that all day. Time and time again, she has proven that she has owned Charlotte Flair. The more they change, the more they stay the same. Where is her magazine cover? Where is the action figure with her holding the title belt? She has to see the person she beat doing media events. She will prove it is this face that belongs on the magazines and posters. If they won’t do it for her, she will do it herself.

Becky says she designed a new poster for Super Show Down, and Becky reveals it.

Charlotte Flair’s music plays and she makes her way to the ring.

Flair rushes the ring and the brawl breaks out. Flair nails a Spear to mostly boos. Flair launches Becky into the large poster she revealed. Flair applies the Figure Four and hangs off the apron, tightening the hold. Fans chant for Becky as Flair brings it back in the ring to boos. Flair delivers a “wooooo!” and stands over Becky as her music hits. The announcers hype Flair vs. Lynch for Saturday’s big event in Australia. Flair exits the ring as her music plays. Becky recovers in the ring and clutches the title as Flair talks some trash. SmackDown goes off the air.
