WWE RAW Results - August 27, 2018

We are live from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada, as Roman Reign makes his way to the ring to start the show.

Roman says he told Braun that he would meet him at 8 PM and it must be 8:05. He is not here to hold this title, he is here to defend it. If Braun is not going to come out, it will be the Shield Workhorse Open Challenge.

Braun makes his way to the stage and he has his briefcase.

Braun says workhorse is funny when you had to bring out your boys to help you last week.

Roman says the Shield is a Brotherhood of Workhorses. No one tells them what to do, not even him. They know what it is like to be at the top of the mountain, but you have no clue. All you do is walk around saying ‘Get These Hands’. The fact is all that you lift with those hands are objects. Roman says he has lifted every single WWE Championship to offer. That is why he is the guy and why he runs this yard. If you want to be on his level, step up, cash in that contract and let’s have a title match in Toronto.

Braun says he is not cashing in tonight. Braun says that everyone knows that if he did, Roman’s boys would come out and save him again. Braun says he won’t cash in until September 16th, but all you have to do is show up at the place where your brothers cannot get involved. They are going to go to war where they have never been before. Braun says he will see Roman at Hell in a Cell.

Roman says Braun is starting to sound like a monster. Roman and Braun shake hands.

Dolph Ziggler’s music plays and he says that since we know what is going to happen at SummerSlam, he wants to deal with SummerSlam and the crime of the century when he lost his title thanks to Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose.

Roman asks if getting pinned in the middle of the ring is stealing. Dolph says that Seth has been trying to catch up to him, but when he gets his rematch, it will be on his terms. Drew and he have proven themselves to everyone. Drew says that Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman is a different story alltogether. Dolph says they need a new challenge and it is you. Drew says the Universal Champion and Mr. Monster in the Bank sit on top of the Monday Night Raw mountain. It is a double edged sword because when you are at the top, the only way to go is down.

Dolph says they are willing to do that tonight. Roman says you sound tough from the stage but they are willing to do it now if you want. Before we get the official match, we get to see the man in charge, Baron Corbin.

Baron tells everyone to slow down and he reminds everyone that he is in charge. Baron says that it is official that the Money in the Bank cash in has been approved for Hell in a Cell. Baron says he will make a main event that Kurt Angle never could have made. It will be Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre versus Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman. Braun tells Roman he is getting the title at Hell in a Cell, but tonight, Dolph and Drew are getting these hands.

– We go back to Corbin in the ring. Corbin brags on how good he is at the job and says he’s already doing better than Kurt Angle did. Corbin says he’s now going to make a match Angle didn’t have the guts to make – Corbin vs. Finn Balor, not The Demon but the man. Corbin says he’s had a week to prepare but Balor is just now finding out, and that match starts right now. Corbin calls Balor out but he’s not showing. The music finally hits and out comes Balor. We go to commercial.

Baron Corbin vs. Finn Balor

They lock up and Corbin with a back elbow. Corbin sends Balor into the turnbuckles and Corbin slides around the ring post and back into the ring to give Balor a clothesline and he gets a near fall. Baron with a half nelson and chin lock. Balor with a punch and Corbin with a forearm. Corbin with a sunset flip but Balor rolls through and hits a drop kick. Baron runs Balor into the turnbuckles and connects with a forearm. Balor goes to the apron but Baron with a clothesline to send Balor to the floor. Baron runs Balor into the ringside barrier.

They return to the ring and Baron gets a near fall. Baron with a kick to the back. Baron with a punch and kick. Baron with an elbow to the collarbone and then he returns to the half nelson and chin lock. Corbin with a knee and forearm. Balor with a kick but Corbi with a punch and Balor goes down. Balor is kicked to the floor. Baron goes to the floor and Balor with slingblade as we go to commercial.

We are back and Corbin has Balor in a chin lock and half nelson. We see Baron with a punch when he stopped a Balor springboard attempt. Corbin with clotheslines in the corner. Corbin slides around the post but since it is the second time, he is stopped and Balor with a flying forearm. Balor with kicks and a double stomp. Balor with a chop but Baron with an Irish whip. Balor has an enzuigiri blocked but Corbin falls onto the top rope. Balor with a slingblade but Corbin with Deep Six for a near fall. Balor with an inside cradle for a near fall.

Balor clotheslines Corbin over the top rope. Balor with a plancha onto Corbin. Corbin grabs a chair but Balor stops him. Balor sends Corbin back into the ring. Balor with an enzuigiri and then he goes up top but misses Coup de Grace. Corbin hits Balor with the chair and the referee calls for the bell.

After the match, Baron Corbin says that he forgot that this was a No Disqualification Match so it continues. The referee restarts the match and hits Balor with the chair and then he hits End of Days for the three count.

Winner: Baron Corbin

– Still to come, The B Team vs. The Revival, Natalya vs. Alicia Fox with Ronda Rousey and Alexa Bliss in their corners, plus a performance by Elias. Also, there will be a special look at The Undertaker vs. Triple H at WWE Super Show-Down. We go to commercial.

– Back from the break and the announcers show us last week’s promo from Triple H to hype the match with The Undertaker at Super Show-Down. We get a video package with Christian, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair and WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley commenting on the match. It’s announced that WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels will be on RAW next week to address the match.

Backstage:

Dana Brooke and Apollo Crews are backstage talking about how she deserves a spot at WWE Evolution. Titus O’Neil walks up and informs Dana that she has a match up next against Sasha Banks. Dana looks a bit nervous but she says she’s got this and walks off. Apollo points out how Dana hasn’t had many singles matches in the last 9 months but Titus says she’ll be alright. Titus walks off.

Sasha Banks vs. Dana Brooke

We go to the ring and out comes Sasha Banks with Bayley. We go to commercial.

They lock up and Dana with a rollup for a near fall. Dana with another rollup for a near fall. Dana with a jackknife cover but she can only get a near fall. Sasha goes for Banks Statement after a satellite move and Dana goes to the floor. Dana with a waist lock but Sasha with a back elbow and Irish whip. Dana floats over and does the WorldWide salute. Dana with an enzuigiri for a near fall. Dana punches Sasha and poses. Dana with an Irish whip and handspring back elbow. She goes for a second one but Sasha moves. Sasha with a knee and Meteora for a near fall.

Dana with a forearm and she gets Sasha on her shoulders but Sasha gets to her feet and she hits the lungblower followed by Banks Statement for the three count.

Winner: Sasha Banks

After the match, Apollo checks on Dana in the ring.

– We see Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins standing in the back and Seth walks away as we go to commercial.

Backstage:

We are back and Dean is still standing where he was before the commercial break. Jinder Mahal and Sunil Singh arrive and Jinder says he senses some anger from Dean since his return and he can bring some spirituality to Dean. He tells Dean to close his eyes and tell him what does he see. Dean says he sees Jinder and him. He sees himself kicking Jinder in the teeth and breaking his face and ribs. You are crying and you are in great pain. He tells Jinder to get out of his face.

In the Arena:

Seth Rollins makes his way to the ring. He says he likes where Toronto’s head is at. Last week was taking care of some family business. They take pride in being workhorses and being fighting champions. This week is about Intercontinental Title action. He thought he would have to deal with Dolph Ziggler or Drew McIntyre but they have a match so that means his dance card is open. Who wants an Open Challenge? Seth makes an open challenge to anyone in the back.

Kevin Owens’ music plays and he makes his way to the stage.

Kevin says he is so glad that Seth is happy and feeling good. You have your buddies back, you have your title back, you have your CrossFit. Kevin says since he came back to Raw, his life has been a living hell. Kevin says he wished he could be back on Raw when he was on Smackdown but they are not good. You had a great SummerSlam but it was because he had his best friend by his side. Kevin did not have his best friend by his side. If Sami Zayn was there, he would have beaten Strowman and cashed in and he would be the Universal Champion. Sami Zayn is not here because he got injured by some brute. That terrible summer ends tonight. Kevin says he is not leaving this building without a title. This is Toronto, Ontario, Canada and he cannot think of a better place… he can think of a better place and it is called Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Kevin speaks in French.

Kevin says all Seth needs to know is that he is taking Seth’s title right now.

Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins for the WWE Intercontinental Championship

Owens with a kick and forearm to teh back. Owens with punches and chops in the corner. Rollins puts Owens in the corner and he punches Owens. Owens with a kick and punch to Rollins. Owens punches Rollins but Rollins with a flying forearm and punches. Owens with an Irish whip and Rollins with a clothesline out of the corner. Owens goes to the floor to recover.

Rollins sends Owens into the apron and they return to the ring. Rollins with a slingshot leg drop to the back of the neck and Owens falls to the floor. Owens with a forearm and Irish whip but Rollins leaps over the steps and then hits a clothesline off the steps as we go to commercial.

We are back and Owens with a reverse chin lock. We see Owens hitting a DDT for a near fall during the commercial break. Rollins with a chop but Owens with an Irish whip and Rollins with a Michaels flip. Owens with a double jump elbow drop for a near fall. Owens follows Rollins to the floor. Rollins with a punch and chp but Owens sends Rollins into the ringside barrier. They return to the ring and Owens wraps the arm in the ropes.

Owens with a back senton onto the arm for a near fall. Owens with an arm bar. Owens pulls Rollins to the floor and sends hi into the ringside barrier. Owens goes for a cannonball against the ringside barrier but Rollins moves and Owens hits the ringside barrier. Rollins gets back into the ring and so does Owens. Rollins with punches and chops but Owens with an arm wringer to stop Rollins. Owens with a kick but Rollins with slingblade. Owens goes to the floor and Rollins with a suicide dive onto OWens. Rollins with a second one. Rollins goes for a third one but Owens with a forearm to stop Rollins. Rollins knocks Owens off the apron and hits the third one as we go to commercial.

We are back and Seth goes up top and hits a frog splash for a near fall. Rollins misses Black Out when Owens moves. Owens pulls Rollins’ arm onto the top rope and sends Rollins shoulder first into the ring post. Owens with a crossface. Rollins crawls to the ropes but Owens grabs Rollins’ arm and adds pressure. Rollins gets his foot on the rope to break the hold. Owens punches Rollins and then slaps Rollins. Owens with more slaps but Rollins slaps back. They go back and forth in a slapfest. Rollins leaps over Owens on a pop up power bomb attempt. Rollins lands on his feet on a back body drop. Rollins with a super kick but Owens with a stunner for a near fall.

Owens puts Rollins on the turnbuckles. Rollins with a punch to stop Owens and Rollins sets for a sunset flip into a buckle bomb. Owens with a super kick out of the corner for a near fall. Owens goes up top. Owens with an elbow to the head but Rollins with a punch. Rollins goes to the turnbuckles. Owens with a head butt to stop Rollins and then Owens goes for a fisherman’s superplex but Rollins blocks it.

Rollins jumps to the turnbuckles but Owens stops Rollins and Rollins falls on the ropes. Owens misses a double jump moonsault and Rollins with Black Out for the three count.

Winner: Seth Rollins

– We see an Instagram post from Kurt Angle where he states that he is not sure of his future.

– We take a look back at the start of the show when we found out when Braun Strowman would cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase and the announcement of tonight’s main event.

– Baron Corbin is in his office on his phone and Braun Strowman enters. Braun and Baron stare at each other and Braun gives Baron the briefcase and he tells Baron to bring it to Hell in a Cell. We go to commercial.

In the Arena:

Back from the break and Kevin Owens is sitting in a chair in the middle of the ring. He’s been there since losing the Intercontinental Title match. Owens looks to be getting a bit emotional or annoyed as some in the crowd taunts him. Owens takes the mic and says, “I quit.” He drops the mic and walks off, leaving everyone puzzled.

Backstage:

Renee Young is shocked at Kevin Owens’ announcement but she must go on and she is with Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre. She asks them why would they make the challenge they did. Dolph says to change the game, you have to make decisions at the right time. Tonight you are going to see them make their move to the top of the food chain. Drew says that Roman had two tough matches last week and he is not at 100 percent. Drew says that Braun’s mind is not right. Dolph says that Braun and Roman literally have a hellacious future ahead of them. That team is not right. Drew says everyone in the locker room see them as the Big Dog and the Monster Among Men but they see them as two wounded animals ready for slaughter.

The B-Team vs. The Revival

We go to the ring and out come RAW Tag Team Champions The B Team, Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas, for this non-title match. Out next comes The Revival, Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder.

Axel starts off with Dash and takes control, covering for an early pin attempt. Dawson tags in and unloads on Axel in the corner now. Axel turns it around and nails a dropkick. Dallas tags in and they double team Dawson. Dash runs in and they take him out as well. Dawson gets tossed to the floor. They toss Dash out onto him and stand tall as we go back to commercial.

We are back and Wilder with a neck vice on Dallas. We see WIlder sending Dallas into the ringside barrier during the commercial break. Wilder with a front face lock on Dallas. Dawson tags in and hits a drop kick for a near fall. Dawson with a back elbow and waist lock. Dallas with elbows and a kick but both men are down. Wilder tags in and he stops Bo from making the tag with a clothesline. Bo blocks a tornado DDT and hits a hanging neck breaker. Dawson tags in but misses a splash and hits the ropes. Axel tags in and hits a few clotheslines and follows with a snap mare and leap frog neck snap. Axel with a running knee to Dawson for a near fall.

Axel with a kick and he goes for the Son of Perfectplex but Dawson escapes. Dawson is kicked into the turnbuckles and Axel with a rollup. Axel with a rollup and back slide for a near fall. Wilder makes the tag and they hit Shatter Machine for the three count.

Winners: The Revival

After the match, Dawson and Wilder attack Bo Dallas and hit Shatter Machine on him. They then take the tag title belts. Scott says over the last few months, the Raw tag division has been a joke because of these two morons. We go from the Road Warriors to Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard to… The B Team. Dash says they are sick of them making a mockery of the tag team division. Scott tells them to keep the titles clean because they can take them any time they want.

– Elias is getting ready for his performance as we go to commercial.

In the Arena:

Elias is in the ring and he plays an introduction. He says we are gathered here tonight to answer one question… who wants to walk with Elias. You will be tested and it will get tough. When those tough times come, do not lose faith. Do not stray from the truth that everyone knows. Elias says it is time for him to sing his greatest song. Elias says he had an epiphany. When Drake said he started from the bottom, he was literally talking about here. There is no city more bottom feeding than Toronto. Elias says that he was talking to John Tavares and he said going from New York to Toronto is no bigger disappointment in life.

Trish Stratus’ music plays and she makes her way to the ring.

Elias mentions how Trish gave up time from changing diapers to come see him at RAW. Elias says he’s kind of a big deal now. Trish says she’s a fan of some of his music but when he starts talking bad about her hometown of Toronto, she has to ask him to silence his cellphone, hold his applause and most importantly, shut his mouth. Fans chant for Trish and Elias continues taking shots at Toronto. Trish plugs her WWE Evolution match with Alexa Bliss but Elias knocks that too. Trish says it’s time Elias packs up and just walks away. Owens is ready to cut to the chase – Trish just came out to walk with him like all the other women want to. Elias says he doesn’t date women in their sixties. Trish decks Elias. The music interrupts and out comes RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey.

Rousey is all smiles as she stops on the stage. Natalya’s music hits and out she comes to join Rousey. They head to the ring and we go back to commercial.

We are back and Alexa Bliss says is impressed that Ronda, Natalya, and Trish are in the ring and she calls them Miss Underwhelming, Miss Overhyped, and Miss Irrelevant. Alexa tells Trish to take some advise from the woman who replaced Trish that all the yoga will not help at Evolution. Alexa says she is here to talk to Ronda. You might have won at SummerSlam, but you did not break her arm so she could not face Ronda again. Alexa says she is not an average woman and she is invoking her rematch clause at Hell in a Cell. Alexa says she will not revoke her rematch clause in Canada because she does not like their accents. Alexa says she is taking her title back. Alexa says that Alicia is going to give Nattie a beat down. Alexa says they have a friend who Trish knows a lot about.

Mickie James makes her way to the stage to join Alexa and Alicia.

Natalya (with Ronda Rousey and Trish Stratus) vs. Alicia Fox (with Alexa Bliss)

They lock up and Natalya with a wrist lock and Irish whip. Alicia with a sunset flip but Natalya rolls through and goes for the Sharpshooter. Alicia goes to the ropes and then to the floor. Natalya drop kicks Alicia off the apron to the floor. Alicia with a take down as Natalya returns to the ring and she gets a near fall. Alicia with a reverse chin lock and boot to the head. Alicia chokes Natalya in the ropes and then Alexa and Mickie attack Natalya while the referee was out of position. Ronda and Trish force Mickie and Alexa to go away from the ring.

Natalya brings Alicia back into the ring and hits a discus clothesline and then applies the Sharpshooter. Alicia taps out.

Winner: Natalya

After the match, Trish and Rousey join Natalya in the ring as the music hits. Mickie and Bliss look on from the crowd. Back to commercial.

Backstage:

We are back and Ronda, Trish, and Natalya are walking in the back and they are stopped by Nikki and Brie Bella. Nikki says that they are proud that Ronda is representing the women’s division with Evolution around the corner. Brie says that next week, the Bellas will be back. Natalya needs to take a selfie.

– We see more comments from wrestlers about the Undertaker versus HHH in Australia. We see Steve Austin, Booker T, Big Show. Austin says he will be watching this match. Big Show says he competed against both of them. Booker T also picks Undertaker. Big Show picks the Undertaker. Austin picks Triple H to win.

Backstage:

Baron Corbin is on the phone and he says he will talk to Kevin Owens to get things worked out. Baron asks for a masseuse. Bobby Lashley asks Baron if he is still banged up after last week. Baron talks about his win but Bobby points out that Corbin made it a No DQ match in the middle of the match. Baron says he does not want Bobby to think he forgot about him. He has a match for Bobby and Baron says he has a lot to deal with but he cannot remember Bobby’s opponent. Bobby’s match is next. Back to commercial.

– We are back and Baron Corbin appears on the TitanTron and he tells Bobby he has two opponents tonight and it will be a handicap match.

Bobby Lashley vs. The Ascension

The bell rings and Lashley drops Viktor with a shoulder. Lashley stares down Konnor next. Konnor ends up coming in and beating Lashley around. Lashley fights back but The Ascension turns it around. Viktor comes back in and keeps control until Lashley overpowers and launches him. Lashley unloads and drives Viktor into the mat. Lashley sends Konnor out to the floor. Lashley scoops Viktor and plants him face-first for the easy win.

Winner: Bobby Lashley

After the match, Lashley stands tall as his music hits.

– We see Dean Ambrose pacing backstage. He will face Jinder Mahal next. Back to commercial.

Dean Ambrose vs. Jinder Mahal (with Sunil Singh)

Back from the break and Jinder Mahal is in the ring with Sunil Singh. Dean Ambrose is out next.

The bell rings and Ambrose takes Jinder down first. Ambrose keeps control and clotheslines Jinder over the top rope to the floor. Ambrose follows and chops away against the barrier as Singh looks on. Ambrose brings it back inside and drops Singh on the floor. Ambrose re-enters the ring but Jinder hits him with a knee. Jinder keeps control and drops a knee for a 2 count. Jinder with more offense while Ambrose is down now. Jinder chokes Ambrose on the middle rope. Jinder drops more big knees while Ambrose is down. Jinder grinds the knee into Ambrose as the referee counts.

Jinder keeps Ambrose grounded now. Ambrose makes a comeback with clotheslines now. Ambrose drops Jinder with an elbow and keeps the offense going. Jinder counters a move and knees Ambrose in the gut. They run the ropes and Jinder nails a jumping knee to the face for a 2 count. Jinder stands over Ambrose and wastes some time now. Jinder goes for The Khallas but it’s blocked. Ambrose nails Dirty Deeds for the win.

Winner: Dean Ambrose

After the match, Ambrose stands tall as his music hits and we get replays. Jinder watches as Ambrose marches to the back.

Backstage:

Roman Reigns is backstage when Braun Strowman walks in. Braun acknowledges they don’t like each other and says the only things getting slaughtered tonight are their opponents. Braun reiterates how Reigns will have 20 more days to think about how Braun is taking his title at Hell In a Cell. Reigns says Braun will realize on day 21 how he failed to take the title. Reigns walks off. Back to commercial.

– Back from the break and The Revival vs. The B Team with the titles on the line is announced for next week. The Bella Twins will face The Riott Squad next week also.

Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman vs. Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre

We go to the ring for tonight’s main event and out first comes WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. Braun Strowman is out next. Braun gets a pop as he plays to the crowd. Out next comes Dolph Ziggler, followed by Drew McIntyre.

The bell rings and Roman tells Braun he wants to start. Reigns and Ziggler size each other up. Ziggler kicks Reigns in the gut and talks some trash. Reigns fires back with a big right hand. Ziggler runs the ropes but Reigns clotheslines him. Reigns knocks Drew off the apron and clotheslines Ziggler over the top to the floor. Braun nods in approval. Reigns goes to the floor and hits a Drive By on Ziggler as the referee counts. Fans chant “we want Strowman” now.

Reigns rolls Ziggler back into the ring but Drew floors Reigns with a big boot while the referee isn’t looking. Ziggler takes advantage and hits a big DDT on Reigns. Braun breaks the pin attempt up. Drew tags in and mounts Reigns with strikes in the middle of the ring. Braun yells at Drew as he focuses on keeping Reigns down.

Reigns gets double teamed now. Ziggler keeps control and nails a dropkick. Drew comes back in and keeps Reigns grounded. Drew with a suplex. Drew keeps Reigns grounded again. Ziggler with another tag and a big elbow for a pin attempt. Ziggler takes Reigns down with a Sleeper hold now and Reigns starts fading. Reigns rams Ziggler back into a corner and breaks the hold. Ziggler charges but Reigns drops him over the top to the floor. Ziggler comes but Reigns drops him with a big boot. Braun and Drew reach for tags now.

Drew tags in and stops Reigns from tagging. Reigns rocks him. Drew stops him again and hits a big belly-to-belly throw into the corner. Ziggler comes back in and keeps control, yelling at Reigns. Reigns hits a Superman Punch out of nowhere. Strowman waits for the tag. Drew tags in as does Braun. Drew puts on the brakes and stares Braun down. Drew and Dolph double team Reigns now as Braun just watches them. Braun never came in off the tag, just watched the double team. The referee calls for the bell off the double team.

Winners by DQ: Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman

After the bell, Braun enters the ring and stares at his opponents, then down at Reigns. Braun grabs Reigns, yells in his face and then drops him. Braun launches Reigns into the corner with one arm and he goes down again. Braun nods at Drew to unload on Reigns in the corner. Ziggler superkicks him. The music hits and out comes Dean Ambrose to make the save. Ambrose hits the ring but he gets triple teamed. WWE Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins runs out next, selling the shoulder injury. Rollins also gets triple teamed. Braun, Ziggler and McIntyre destroy The Shield with their finishers. Drew picks Reigns up and feeds him to Braun for a big powerslam in the middle of the ring. Braun grabs Ziggler and McIntyre’s arms, raising them in the middle of the ring as fans boo. RAW goes off the air with Braun, Ziggler and McIntyre standing tall.
