You can add Tampa to the list of cities that are looking to get a future WrestleMania.
Tampa Bay Sports Commission executive director Rob Higgins announced on Thursday that the city was going to be putting in a bid to host the event at Raymond James Stadium. They would like to host it in 2023, 2024, or 2025. Tampa has already secured rights to host the Super Bowl in 2021.
“Naturally, we think with the rich tradition of professional wrestling in our community, with so many (WWE stars) who live here, with how much passion there is for professional wrestling, that it makes a lot of sense to try to host the premier event in Wrestlemania,” Higgins told the Tampa Bay Times.
Higgins also said that the city would also be putting in a bid for the Royal Rumble for 2022 or 2023. As previously noted, there are other cities looking to pay top dollar for the event. WWE executives have been invited to meet with officials in Minnesota later this year. Minnesota is pitching the idea of hosting the event in either 2020 or 2021. Next year’s WrestleMania weekend will emanate from New York and New Jersey.
