WWE just can’t seem to figure out what to do and how to get people to cheer for Roman Reigns.
As seen on RAW, Roman Reigns experienced another setback when Jinder Mahal cost him a spot in a Money In The Bank ladder match. Dave Meltzer noted that since Brock Lesnar isn’t working Money In The Bank, Jinder Mahal is going to be just a filler opponent.
“It was interesting we’re going to get a Roman Reigns/ Jinder Mahal feud that was unexpected. I think the thing is that show [Backlash] really sucked on Sunday Night — it was one of the worst pay-per-views in long long time It was a new day, it was another day it wasn’t like people were mad at WWE. Roman Reigns was booed but it’s not like he was booed any more. It’s not like he walked out of his match, it was just a normal [Raw].”
“Roman Reigns being taken out [of the MITB ladder match] doesn’t mean they’re going to put him with Brock Lesnar.”
As Meltzer pointed out on Wrestling Observer Radio, it seems that WWE will keep trying the same thing that hasn’t worked for so long because apparently, they haven’t figured out a better option.
“They’re trying to tell the story and I can’t believe it because they’ve been trying for a couple of months, but they’re still trying to tell the story that management is screwing him over and that’s why he’s not the champion. But nobody buys it.”
“They’re trying to figure out a way to get people to cheer him. We’re supposed to think that all these things that happened — the whole thing that they favor Brock Lesnar but it didn’t work. I guess for whatever reason even though it didn’t work nobody has a better idea so that’s what they’re going with.”
It was also noted that until WWE comes up with a better idea to get Roman over they’re going to keep going with the same idea. He also said that they could always bring Vince McMahon back every week but that would get old eventually too.
