WWE Smackdown Results – Oct 10, 2017

WWE Smackdown Opener:

The show opens with a video recap of Hell in a Cell. We are in Grand Rapids, Michigan and your announcers are Corey Graves, Tom Phillips, and Byron Saxton.

The new Smackdown Team Champions, the Usos make their way to the ring and they do so gingerly.

Jimmy says they told ya. They got this whole tag team division on lock. Jey welcomes everyone to the Uso Penitentiary. Jimmy says when you walk in Hell in a Cell, you walk out a changed man. With that said, they want the New Day to come out because they have something to say to them face to face.

The New Day make their way to the ring and Big E and Xavier do it gingerly but Kofi is his usual self since he was not in the match on Sunday.

Jey says Sunday night two of the best tag teams in WWE went to war. We made history that night. Compared to us and this, the other tag teams in the back suck.

Big E says they don’t suck but Xavier says they are the two best.

Jey says it was Hell. Jimmy says when they stepped in the cell, it got real nasty and real vicious. They brought out kendo sticks, handcuffs, chairs. Woods even brought out a cowbell. Jey says they know for a fact that when they step in the ring it is Clash of the Titans and they make it hard to follow. Jimmy says what they don’t know is that after that show, they didn’t see them driving to the next town or see the ice packs after the match. They didn’t see them being asked if they are okay. Jey says after all that it hit them. There is nobody else on the planet feeling battered or broken besides you three.

After beating the hell out of each other, Jey says they belong here. They are the tag division and they run this tag division.

Big E asks if they knocked a screw loose. Woods asks if they are asking for a truce. Kofi asks if they are looking for an Uce Truce.

Jimmy and Jey says they are showing them respect.

Mojo Rawley and Zack Ryder come out.

Mojo says it is the same two teams every week taking all of the credit in the tag team division.

Jimmy asks Mojo if he is jealous because they are the playmakers and stars. Jey tells Mojo to sit on the sidelines like he did in the NFL.

Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin come out and Chad says if the Hype Boys are trying to start a fight. He tells them to get behind the team that beat them on Sunday.

The Usos agree with Chad that the Hype Bros go to the back of the line. Jimmy and Jey talk about how Chad is smart because he got him Shelton Benjamin. They talk about Shelton’s accomplishments and send them to the back of the line.

Fandango and Tyler Breeze make their way out to join the party.

Konnor and Viktor come out before Fandango or Breeze can speak.

Breeze tells them to stop following them.

Konnor says they are sick of being in the wasteland so they want a chance.

The Usos says that Breeze and Fandango are cool. If each of you want a shot at the tag titles, come into the ring and make a shot.

Daniel Bryan comes out before anyone can go into the ring.

Daniel says tonight is not a good night for this. First, he thanks the Usos and New Day for that match at Hell in a Cell. Daniel asks them to get out of the ring.

We will determine the next challengers for the Usos. The rest of you will compete in a Fatal Four Way Match and it will happen right now. We go to commercial.

#1 Contenders Fatal 4 Way: The Hype Bros vs. The Ascension vs. Breezango vs. Chad Gable and Jason Jordan

Mojo and Konnor start things off and Ryder makes the blind tag and hits a missile drop kick. Viktor tags in and Ryder with a flap jack. Ryder runs into an elbow and Viktor with a flying Canadian Lifter Viktor with chops. Ryder avoids a slam and Gable tags in and gets a near fall with a rollup. Gable with an arm drag and arm bar on Viktor. Benjamin tags in and kicks Viktor in the arm and slams Viktor. Benjamin with an elbow drop for a near fall. Gable tags in and he takes Viktor to the mat with an arm bar. Viktor with a wrist lock. Gable with a reversal into a drop toe hold and arm bar.

Gable escapes a suplex and Gable with an arm drag into an arm bar. Viktor with forearms and shoulders. Konnor tags in and he is sent into the corner for a splash. Viktor with a knee and he gets a near fall. All four teams stand off in the ring.

We go to split screen and the referee tries to restore order into the match. Gable with a triangle from the ropes and he falls to the floor. Ryder tags in and he punches Konnor. Ryder with an elbow but Konnor with a running boot. Konnor gets a near fall. Viktor tags in and they punch Ryder and then kick him. Viktor gets a near fall and then applies a reverse chin lock. Ryder with a jaw breaker and Fandango tags in. Fandango with a knee to the midsection followed by an arm bar and wrist lock. Benjamin tags in and he connects with forearms to Ryder. Benjamin with a punch but Ryder with forearms.

Benjamin with a dragon whip for a near fall. Konnor tags in and he takes over on Ryder. Konnor with a leaping elbow drop for a near fall. Breeze tags in and Ryder kicks him away and tags in Mojo. Mojo takes care of Benjamin and Gable and then he hits a series of running shoulder tackles to Breeze. Rawley with a Stinger splash and then he hits a power slam. Everyone pairs off until it is Rawley and Breeze. Viktor pushes Ryder off the turnbuckles and Mojo argues with Ryder. Konnor takes care of himself and Mojo. Breeze with a rollup on Ryder for a near fall.

Ryder gets his boots up when Breeze charges into the corner. Fandango makes the save for Breeze on a Broski Boot. Benjamin with spinebusters while Gable hits overhead suplexes. Benjamin with a spine buster to Konnor.

Gable and Benjamin stand tall. They go for the double team on Breeze but Fandango makes the save. Fandango misses the Last Dance on Benjamin. Gable with a big moonsault. The chaos leads to Gable and Benjamin getting the pin on Breeze to earn a future title shot.

Winners and New #1 Contenders: Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin

– We go backstage to Dasha Fuentes for comments from Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. She’s outside of their locker room door and says unfortunately they are making her wait.

– Still to come, Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Rusev and Aiden English. Back to commercial.

Backstage:

We are back and Natalya is backstage holding her championship when Lana and Tamina come in. Lana says the title will look better on Tamina. Natalya used to fantasize about being the champion, but now it belongs to her. Carmella comes in with her briefcase and says her fantasies are a little more real then others. Natalya says they deserve to be champion more than Charlotte Flair. Flair walks in, and Natalya asks why she has a long face. She asks if she broke her “pathetic father’s” heart again. Charlotte attacks her until referees come in to break it up.

Backstage:

Elsewhere backstage, Renee Young is backstage with United States Champion Baron Corbin. She asks about facing AJ Styles one-on-one. Corbin says it feels good to shove this in the face of the “keyboard warriors,” as well as Styles and Tye Dillinger. Tonight, the house that AJ Styles built becomes the opportunity that AJ Styles squandered.

– Becky Lynch will take on Carmella, next.

Carmella vs. Becky Lynch

Back from the break and Ms. Money In the Bank is in the ring. James Ellsworth, wearing his leash, is chained to the ring post. Becky Lynch is out next.

The bell rings and Becky takes Carmella down and mounts her with strikes. Becky is still upset for last week as she keeps up the attack. Carmella slaps Becky and tries to retreat but Becky grabs her. Becky with the Bexploder suplex. Carmella goes to the floor and Ellsworth checks on her. Becky follows and Carmella takes advantage of Ellsworth being in the way to turn it around.

Carmella works Becky over on the floor as fans chant for Becky. Carmella brings it back into the ring for a 2 count. Carmella takes Becky back down and hits her, keeping her grounded on the mat.

Becky gets up and out, managing to knock Carmella back into the corner. Becky charges but Carmella knocks her out of the air. Carmella approaches but Becky applies the Disarm Her in the middle of the ring for the win.

Winner: Becky Lynch

After the match, Becky celebrates as her music hits. Carmella retreats to the floor and Becky taunts her before standing tall.

In the Arena:

We are back and Kevin Owens makes his way to the ring.

Kevin says at Hell in a Cell, he did exactly what he said he would do. He sent Shane McMahon to hell. Now, Shane McMahon is gone and he is never coming back. You people should be counting your blessings for that. You almost lost Kevin too. Kevin says he was blinded by that white light you hear so much about. He felt his soul start to separate from his body and he started to ascend. It was like he was floating outside his body and then he was in a long line at the pearly gates.

Kevin says he does not standing in line so he was aggravated and he tried to figure out how to get to the front of the line. St. Peter told him as much as we would love to have you up here, they need you on Earth. They need Kevin Owens. Kevin says he was given his own guardian angel, Sami Zayn. Kevin says he realized his new purpose. It is to turn Smackdown Live into his very own paradise. This is Kevin’s Heaven, or as he likes to call it The Kevin Owens Show.

Kevin brings out his best friend and guardian angel, Sami Zayn.

Kevin tells Sami before he starts, that he needs to explain to everyone that Kevin had no idea that Sami was going to help and he had no idea why Sami pulled him away from destruction. Kevin tells Sami from the bottom of his heart, thank you.

Sami says power bombing him on the apron a few weeks ago opened his eyes to everything. He was about pleasing people. Sami says he tried to be the good guy and have everyone put their hopes and dreams onto his shoulders and that journey took him to . . . medicority. Meanwhile, Kevin Owens because the Intercontinental Champion, the Universal Champion, and the United States Champion.

Sami says he got to sleep with a clear conscience and in four or five years he could get there. Sami says he thought he had the great opportunity on the Land of Opportunity on Smackdown. He was told that he would get a chance and he would get those opportunities. That was his last meeting with Shane.

Sami tried and tried but then he talked to Shane to try to warn him about Hell in a Cell. Sami says Shane brushed him off and told him to worry about himself. Sami says he realized Shane never cared about him or wanted him to have an opportunity.

At Hell in a Cell, he was watching the match with bated breath. He wanted Shane to win and when Shane knocked Kevin through the table, he had the match won. Then Shane turned around and climbed to the top of the cell. Kevin has been a lot of things. He has been his best friend, he has been his bitter rival, but Kevin has always been and will always be his brother. Shane on the top of the cell meant he did not care about Kevin or Sami. He only cared about himself. Sami says he saved his brother because it was the right thing to do. Shane became an absolute psychopath. Sami says he thought he despised Kevin, but he despised that Kevin was right.

Sami and Owens hug in the middle of the ring to a mixed reaction. Sami’s music hits and they hug again. Owens raises Sami’s arm and tells the crowd to give it up for him. The music stops and Sami raises Owens’ arm, asking the crowd to give it up for him. They go back and forth with getting props for each other. Owens’ music hits and they hug again. Owens raises Sami’s arm and they play to the crowd some more.

– Still to come, Styles gets his rematch. Also, Rusev and English vs. Orton and Nakamura. Back to commercial.

Rusev and Aiden English vs. Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura

Randy Orton will start against Rusev. Rusev punches away at Orton and sends him to the ropes, but he lowers his head and eats a kick. Rusev pushes off an RKO, and Orton throws him out of the ring. Orton goes for a hanging DDT, but English pulls Rusev away. Orton soon comes back by giving Rusev a back suplex onto the commentary table. Orton gets Rusev in the ring and goes to the apron, so English grabs the foot. Rusev then kicks Orton off the apron. English then takes Orton down at ringside. Back to commercial.

Back from the break and the heels are still in control of Orton. English tags back in and covers for another pin attempt. English keeps Orton grounded now. Fans chant for Orton as he fights up and reaches for a tag but English keeps control. English wastes some time and Orton catches him in the powerslam.

Nakamura gets the tag and unloads on English, delivering a bunch of kicks while he’s on his knees. English catches a kick but Nakamura drops him. Nakamura with a running knee in the corner. Nakamura places English on the top and delivers another knee. Nakamura goes for the Kinshasa but Rusev runs in and grabs him. Nakamura decks Rusev and Orton follows up with the RKO. Nakamura hits the Kinshasa on English for the pin.

Winners: Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura

Backstage:

Renee Young is in the back with AJ Styles. Renee asks him about his confidence tonight. AJ reminds everyone that Corbin did not beat him on Sunday and there was only one man who was Phenomenal on Sunday. Corbin proved something when he failed to cash in. He is prone to make mistakes. He does not know if Corbin has convinced himself that he is better or if he has figured out a way to walk out with the title. AJ says he will be damned if some Lone Wolf will come in and take his title. AJ says some might think he is overconfident but he knows he can win. It will be the End of Days for Corbin as champion. We go to commercial.

– We are back and we see the back of two men and they turn around to reveal that it is Luke Harper and Erick Rowan. There is no conscience. There is no moral compass. Broken bones, severed spines. Harper and Rowan call themselves the Bludgeon Brothers.

In the Arena:

We go to the ring and out comes Bobby Roode to a pop.

Roode takes the mic and says he is very happy to announce that his WWE pay-per-view debut was glorious. That is, until Dolph Ziggler attacked him after the win. Roode says if Dolph wants to fight, let’s do it. The music hits and out comes Ziggler. The music quickly stops and Ziggler takes the mic.

Ziggler mocks Roode when talking about their match at Hell In a Cell. Ziggler says he, being the greatest performer in WWE history, exposed Roode for what he is – a fraud. Ziggler says he proved he’s the better man and the better wrestler while Roode panicked because his lie was unraveling. Ziggler says Roode panicked and did the only thing he knew that would beat Ziggler. Ziggler shows us still from the match, which have Roode using a handful of tights to get the roll-up. Ziggler does not show how he tried the same move. Ziggler says Roode isn’t just a flashy entrance, he’s a cheater. Roode says he just proved he’s smarter than Ziggler. Ziggler gets fired up about how he’s the best. He wants his rematch.

Roode says Ziggler can have the rematch if he wants it. Ziggler says that’s excellent… any time, any place, Roode can name it. Roode says the rematch will go just like their first match did. Ziggler says Roode won’t have a chance in hell at beating him. Roode believes he can speak for everyone else in the arena when he says he’s tired of hearing Ziggler talk. Roode tells Ziggler to come to the ring for the rematch now if he’s done whining. Ziggler looks like he’s about to hit the ring but he tells Roode he can’t always get what he wants. Ziggler says he will have his rematch when he wants but it sure as hell won’t be here tonight. Fans boo as Ziggler walks off to the back. Roode’s music hits as he poses in the ring.

– Baron Corbin is walking backstage, showing off his title in the face of random staffers. Back to commercial.

– Back from the break and Ziggler vs. Roode is confirmed for next week.

WWE United States Title Match: AJ Styles vs. Baron Corbin

We go to the ring and AJ Styles is already out as is new WWE United States Champion Baron Corbin. Greg Hamilton does formal ring introductions.

The bell rings and AJ goes right to work, nailing an enziguri and a dropkick to send Corbin to the floor. Corbin takes his time returning to the ring. AJ goes right to work. Corbin charges but AJ pulls the top rope down and Corbin lands on the floor. Corbin returns to the ring but AJ takes him to the corner for more offense. Corbin goes to the floor for a breather as fans boo. Corbin tells the crowd to shut up as we go back to commercial.

Back from the break and Corbin runs over Styles with a big lariat. Corbin talks trash as he waits for AJ to get up. Corbin works AJ over as we see how Corbin sent AJ into the steel steps during the commercial. Fans chant for AJ as Corbin works him around the ring, still talking trash.

AJ fights back and unloads, nailing Corbin in the corner. AJ keeps up the attack and takes the knees out. AJ with the low forearm. AJ keeps control and scoops Corbin onto his shoulders but it’s countered. AJ ends up on the apron. Corbin slides under him and goes to the floor but AJ launches him over the announce table with a big dropkick through the tables. Fans chant for AJ as he brings Corbin back into the ring. AJ goes for the springboard 450 but hesitates and hits the Phenomenal Forearm instead.

AJ with the backbreaker over his knee for a 2 count. AJ sells a knee injury but keeps control. Corbin catches Styles in a Deep Six and they both go down. More back and forth and counters now. AJ ends up applying the Calf Crusher in the middle of the ring. Corbin breaks it with a big shot into the mat. They get up and Corbin unloads with elbows. AJ blocks End of Days and hits a pele kick. Corbin rolls to the floor for a breather to avoid the pin. AJ leaps off the apron but Corbin catches him and launches him to the floor. Corbin brings it back into the ring and hits End of Days for the pin.

Winner: Baron Corbin

After the match, Corbin stands tall as we get replays. Renee enters the ring to interview Corbin, asking if he has any words for the WWE Universe tonight. Corbin says they all can look at the title and eat it because it’s his and it’s not going anywhere. Corbin says they can cry and he will buy a boat to sail down their river of tears. Corbin stands tall with the title as SmackDown goes off the air.
