WWE Smackdown Results – Sep 26, 2017

WWE Smackdown Opener:

We start off with a look back at what Kevin Owens has done to the McMahon family over the last few weeks.

– Kevin Owens makes his way to the ring. Owens grabs a mic and asks where Shane McMahon is. “I’ve been called a coward for what I did to Vince McMahon. I’ve been called a coward for not being at Smackdown Live last week.” Owens says he is here tonight and standing in the middle of the ring of opportunity. He again asks where Shane is. Owens suggests maybe Shane is the coward. He respects Vince McMahon. Owens says just imagine what he will do to someone he doesn’t.

Here comes Sami Zayn to interrupt. Sami asks Kevin what is wrong with him. He is not out here to fight. He says Kevin has lost complete control. Sami says you head butted Vince McMahon. Sami says he has known Kevin for 15 years and he knows that when Kevin snaps, it does not end well. Sami says that he said ‘that’s it’ when Kevin head butted Vince and thought that Kevin snapped.

Sami says he is trying to talk some sense into Kevin. Sami says that Kevin is going to cross a line he never crossed before. If you cross that line, there is no coming back from it. It is not just your career, but your life and your family. Sami tells Kevin to get a grip.

Kevin tells Sami he didn’t snap. Kevin says he is cool. Kevin tells Sami not to worry about his family, he can do that. Kevin says Sami is out here because he has outshined and eclipsed Sami once again. Kevin reminds Sami that he signed two and a half years before Kevin and Kevin has been IC Champion twice. Kevin has been Universal Champion. Kevin says he has been United States Champion. Kevin says that Sami will watch as he main events Hell in a Cell. Kevin says Shane will regret bringing him to Smackdown. Kevin tells Sami to watch Hell in a Cell.

Kevin says the head butt was a mistake, but what has Sami ever done in his life that had more of an impact than Kevin head butting Vince McMahon?

Sami thinks about it and he says Kevin is right. You have done a lot more than him in WWE. You have taken every corner and cheap shot to get where you are. Sami says he is not doing too great, but his day will come and when that day comes, he will do it the right way. You won the Intercontinental Championship and US Title as well as the Universal title, but Sami says he does not see a giant piece of trash looking back at him when he looks in the mirror.

Kevin drops his mic and so does Sami. Before they can exchange any punches, Daniel Bryan’s music. Daniel says that Shane is not here and he might not be here. Daniel says he knows someone who is here and wants to fight with you. Kevin Owens will fight Sami Zayn and it will happen tonight.

– Still to come, a Pride of Bulgaria celebration with Rusev and Tye Dillinger vs. Baron Corbin. We go to commercial.

Tye Dillinger vs. Baron Corbin

Back from the break and out comes Baron Corbin first. Tye Dillinger is out next. The music interrupts and out comes WWE United States Champion AJ Styles for commentary.

Tye pushes Corbin over the top rope to the floor when Corbin focuses on Styles’ appearance at ringside. Dillinger avoids Corbin charging at him and he chops Corbin. Dillinger with a Thesz Press and punches. Corbin sends Dillinger into the corner but Dillinger blocks a punch and connects with punches of his own. Corbin goes to the floor and Dililnger follows. Corbin punches Dillinger on the apron and then sends Dillinger shoulder first into the ring post. Corbin sends Dillinger into the ringside barrier. Dillinger is sent into the guardrails again. Corbin with shoulders to the back in the corner.

Dillinger with a chop but Corbin with a kick and punch. Corbin goes for a suplex but Dillinger with an inside cradle for a near fall. Corbin with a choke breaker to Dillinger. Corbin charges into the corner and he slides to the floor but he runs into a boot when he returns to teh ring. Dillinger has a kick blocked but Dillinger with a thrust kick and knee to the head for a near fall. Corbin goes to the floor and Dillinger with a forearm. Corbin charges at Dillinger and Dillinger is on the apron as Corbin hits the ring steps.

Dillinger goes for the Tye Breaker but Corbin goes to the floor. Corbin hits AJ’s water and it goes into his face and then Corbin sends Dillinger into Styles and Dillinger is down behind the announce table. Dillinger cannot get back into the ring before the ten count so he is counted out.

Winner: Baron Corbin (by count out)

After the match, Corbin knocks Dililnger off the apron. Styles goes into the ring and Corbin goes up the ramp. Corbin has a mic and he asks AJ if he feels dumb. He says he knew AJ and Tye would work together. Baron says you cannot defend the title against him in a one-on-one match. Baron tells AJ he is not going to take any short cuts or squander any opportunities. Baron says he wants AJ at Hell in a Cell and he will take AJ’s title.

– Jinder Mahal and the Singhs walk in the back as we go to commercial.

– We are back with a moment’s ago of what happened at the end of the Corbin/Dillinger match. We are told that the match is official so AJ Styles will face Baron Corbin for the United States title.

In the Arena:

Jinder Mahal and the Singhs are in the ring. Jinder says his opponent at Hell in a Cell is none other than Shinsuke Nakamura. Last week, he may have come out here and went too far making fun of Nakamura. Jinder says he respects Nakamura and Jinder says Nakamura is a worthy opponent. Tonight, he will praise Nakamura. Jinder shows a photo of what Nakamura looked like after hearing Jinder’s comments. Samir and Sunil laugh like it is the funniest thing ever. Jinder says Nakamura realizes that Mahal is superior at everything compared to Nakamura and we see another photo on the TitanTron. Jinder has another photo of how Nakamura will look after Hell in a Cell.

The photo starts to move and Jinder realizes it is Nakamura on the TitanTron. Nakamura says he is looking at your and this is the look of him on Smackdown. The lights go out and Nakamura’s music plays.

Nakamura attacks The Singhs and then Mahal hits Nakamura from behind and then Nakamura is sent into the ring post. Mahal sends Nakamura into the ring. Nakamura with a round kick and then the Singhs run interference to avoid Kinshasa. Mahal goes for Khallas but Nakamura with an enzuigiri and Kinshasa.

– The New Day make their way to the ring and they have snacks. Back to commercial.

The Usos vs. The Hype Bros

Back from the break and out come The Usos. This match comes after The Hype Bros issued a challenge. Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley are already in the ring. We see The New Day watching from the front row with their snacks.

Mojo starts off with Jimmy Uso and unloads. Jey Uso provides a distraction and they turn it around. Jey tags in for a bunch of double team stomps to Mojo now. Uso drops Mojo and covers for a 2 count. Mojo goes on and tags in Ryder. Ryder with offense until he eats an elbow. Ryder counters and hits a neckbreaker for a pin attempt.

Jimmy shoves Ryder into the corner but eats double knees. Mojo tags himself in and they argue. Uso takes advantage and knocks Ryder off the top, then drops Mojo with a superkick. Jey hits a big Superfly splash for the pin.

Winners: The Usos

After the match, The Usos walk over to The New Day and talk about how they always think everything is a damn joke. They talk about becoming five-time champions at Hell In a Cell. Big E brings a microphone out of his popcorn bucket. Kofi Kingston taunts The Usos, as does Big E. Xavier Woods says they don’t want to just defend these titles at Hell In a Cell, they want to defend them inside Hell In a Cell. It looks like The Usos are down for the challenge as they walk away.

– Still to come, Owens vs. Zayn. Also, Rusev celebrates and receives the key to his hometown. Back to commercial.

In the Arena:

Back from the break and it’s time for the Pride of Bulgaria Celebration for Rusev. Master of Ceremonies Aiden English is in the ring. There’s a red apron cover, a podium with a large key and a large box with the Bulgarian flag on it. Aiden introduces a man who is supposed to be the mayor of Plovdiv. Aiden brags on Rusev defeating Randy Orton last week. He starts singing the Bulgarian national anthem as Rusev comes out with the flag.

Rusev enters the ring and stands on top of the flag box as English finishes singing. The mayor takes the mic and reads from a scroll but fans give him the “what!?” treatment. He proclaims today as Rusev Day. The mayor presents Rusev with the key to the city next. Rusev raises it in the air as fans boo. Before we move forward, Rusev wants to take this time to relive last week’s historic victory over Orton. We see how English interfered to help Rusev get the squash win. Rusev talks about how he destroyed the legend of the Legend Killer, so SmackDown is his jungle now.

English says he has prepared a song in honor of Rusev Day. He starts singing. Orton hits the ring out of nowhere and lays English out, sending him to the floor. Rusev tries to attack but Orton drops him with a RKO. Orton’s music hits as he hits the corner to pose. We go to replays.

– Sami is backstage with Daniel Bryan. Bryan spoke with Shane McMahon and he’s on his way here. Shane says he’s coming for Owens when he arrives. Sami wants Bryan to call Shane back and ask him not to interfere in the match. Sami his opportunity to get Owens tonight and that’s all he wants. Bryan says he will call Shane back and see what he says.

– Still to come, Carmella vs. Charlotte. Back to commercial.

– Back from the break and Randy Orton approaches Renee Young backstage. He tells her to let Rusev know when he wakes up that he will see him at Hell In a Cell. Orton wishes Renee a Happy Rusev Day and walks off.

Charlotte Flair vs. Carmella

We go to the ring and out comes Charlotte Flair. Carmella is out next with James Ellsworth on a leash.

Back and forth to start. Charlotte goes to the top early on but Ellsworth grabs her leg, allowing Carmella to bring Flair to the mat and take control. We go to commercial.

Back live, Carmella is tossing elbows to keep Charlotte grounded. Carmella goes up top and connects with a cross body into a cover for a two count on Charlotte. Carmella with another cover, gets a two count and then kicks Charlotte face first into the corner. Carmella catches Charlotte with a reverse DDT and is not happy when Charlotte kicks out again. Carmella with a roll up. Charlotte kicks out, big boots Carmella and picks up the pinfall.

Winner: Charlotte Flair

After the match, WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion Natalya comes out and is happy to know that Charlotte’s father Ric Flair is recovering well. Nothing makes her happier to know that he gets to watch his “overrated daughter” fail at Hell in a Cell.

In the Arena:

A gong sounds and the lights go out so that can only mean one thing… Time for Dolph Ziggler to run through more entrances and insult the crowd.

A loud “YOU SUCK” chant starts up at Ziggler. He says it looks like everyone saw a ghost. Ziggler asks if they really thought they’d see The Undertaker two times in one year. “Anyone can put on a Halloween costume and hobble on down here like a zombie. Anyone can do it. But no one can do what I do in this ring. No one.” Ziggler says this crowd still doesn’t care.

Here comes Bobby Roode to interrupt. Roode grabs a mic and says Ziggler is a very talented in-ring competitor. He also accuses Ziggler of being a hypocrite. Roode says for someone who doesn’t care sure seems to coming out here like this every week. He says they are a lot alike, noting they both demand respect in this ring. Roode says Ziggler says he is the best ever in this ring and he wants him to back up that claim at Hell in a Cell. The crowd in Glendale starts a “YES” chant. Ziggler tells them to shut up.

Ziggler checks off the aspects of Roode’s entrance including a robe, smoke and a catchy song. He says Roode’s in-ring skills are no match for his. “You are everything that is wrong with WWE.” Ziggler says regarding the match, the match is on and adds that anyone who steps foot in the ring with him, they “reeeeeeeest in.” Roode cuts him off and says Hell in a Cell will be “absolutely glorious.” The crowd in Glendale joins in with Roode. Back to commercial.

Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn

Owens and Zayn immediately go at it when the bell rings. Owens gets the better of Zayn early and levels him with a big clothesline. Owens with a clothesline to Zayn in the corner and then connects with his cannonball. Zayn rolls to the outside. Owens sends Zayn into the ring barricade repeatedly. Owens tosses Zayn back inside. Zayn catches Owens with a clothesline, but Owens quickly tosses Zayn out of the ring. When Owens goes to the outside, he charges and Zayn catches him with a big clothesline.

Backstage, we see a shot of Shane McMahon arriving. Back to commercial Break.

Back live, Owens catches Zayn with a huge superkick that results in a two count. During the break, we see Zayn dumping Owens over the ring apron with a big suplex. Zayn with a slap to the collarbone of Owens, springboards off the ropes and connects with a tornado DDT. Zayn is fired up. Owens with a superkick. Zayn avoids a Pop Up Powerbomb and connects with a Blue Thunder Bomb for a close two count. When Owens bails to the outside, Zayn hits the ropes and dives over taking out Owens. When Zayn tosses Owens back in, Owens rolls to the corner and Zayn attempts a dive at the corner. Owens catches Zayn with a superkick through the ropes. Owens powerbombs Zayn over the ring apron! The referee jumps out and checks on Zayn. The referee calls for the bell.

Winner: No Contest

After the match, Kevin Owens sits on the announce table and stares down at Sami Zayn. WWE officials and EMTs run down to check on Zayn at ringside. Glendale is starting a “ONE MORE TIME” chant as Zayn struggles to his feet. Zayn is helped up by EMT officials. Owens then attacks Zayn and the medical staff from behind. Owens steps on the throat of Zayn. Owens grabs a steel chair at ringside when producer Adam Pearce gets in his face to stop. Owens puts the head of Zayn inside the chair when Shane McMahon walks out. Owens tosses Zayn, who still has the chair around his neck, at Shane. Shane runs full speed at the chair and falls down holding his mouth. Owens bails into the crowd. Shane gets up on the corner and points at Owens in the crowd to come back down. Owens blows a kiss at him.

We go to credits.
