WWE Smackdown Results – Sep 19, 2017

We begin with a look back at what happened last week when Smackdown became the Kevin Owens Show featuring Kevin Owens starring Kevin Owens. We then see what happened when Vince McMahon confronted Owens and then got outsmarted by Kevin.

We are in Oakland, California and your announcers are Corey Graves, Tom Phillips, and Byron Saxton.

Shane McMahon’s music plays and he makes his way to the ring but he is not in a Shuffling mood.

Shane says we just witnessed a cowardly act by Kevin Owens as he beat his father down in the middle of the ring. One thing is for sure. He has to give his dad credit for being a salty SOB. They have not always seen eye to eye but at the end of the day, Vince is his father and he loves him. Imagine if you were at home last week with your children and you watched someone you loved get beat down by a coward, how would that make you feel? Shane says his sons saw his grandfather beaten down. McMahons fight back with vengeance when attacked.

Shane says Kevin does not realize what he has done, or maybe he has. Shane says he is in the middle of the ring and Kevin is a no show. Not only did you beat down the Chairman and CEO of the WWE, you beat down the patriarch of his family. Shane says he condemns Kevin to a ruthless beatdown at his hands. He condemns Kevin to vengeance at his hands. Shane says he condemns Kevin to Hell in a Cell.

Randy Orton walks in the back as we go to commercial.

Aiden English vs. Randy Orton

Back from the break and Hamilton introduces Aiden English in the ring. Aiden starts singing but the music interrupts and out comes Randy Orton to a pop.

English punches and kicks Orton as the bell rings. Orton is sent into the apron and English kicks Orton. The referee warns English and English bows. English with an Irish whip but Orton with a clothesline out of the corner. Orton with another clothesline and he ducks a clothesline from English. Orton with a power slam. Orton goes for the IEDDT but English goes to the floor. Orton punches English on the floor and Orton with a backdrop driver onto the ringside barrier. Orton with a European uppercut. English lands on his feet and he hits Orton from behind and then he drops Orton on the announce table.

We go to split screen.

Orton returns to the ring and English with kicks to Orton. English punches Orton and then connects with a knee to the back. English with a reverse chin lock. Orton gets to his feet and he head butts English and punches him. Orton with a European uppercut. English with a kick but he misses a clothesline. Orton goes for the power slam but English holds on to the ropes. English with a swinging neck breaker for a near fall.

English with an Irish whip and he charges into the corner and connects with a running back elbow for a near fall. English returns to the reverse chin lock. English takes Orton to the mat and he sings for Orton. Orton with forearms and punches. Orton with more punches and European uppercuts in the corner. English with a thumb to the eye followed by a drop kick for a near fall. English with a side head lock but Orton with punches. English with a knee and Irish whip but he misses a splash into the corner. English with a boot when Orton charges.

English comes off the turnbuckles and Orton catches him with an RKO for the three count.

Winner: Randy Orton

After the match, Orton poses in the ring and Rusev’s music plays. Rusev goes to the ramp and he says going into SummerSlam, he was going to be a national hero in Bulgaria. In just ten seconds, you turned him and his family into a national disgrace. Rusev says he is going to rip the fangs out of the viper’s mouth. He says he is going to do this right now.

Rusev vs. Randy Orton

The bell rings and Orton blocks a kick and tries for an RKO but Rusev pushes him away. Orton collides with English, who got onto the apron. Rusev with a jumping thrust kick for the three count.

Winner: Rusev

After the match, Orton recovers as Rusev’s music hits. We get a replay of the quick finish. Rusev retreats to the ramp and taunts Orton.

– Still to come, Kevin Owens will be here live via satellite to respond to Shane McMahon. Also, Charlotte Flair will have an update on her dad.

– We see WWE Champion Jinder Mahal and The Singh Brothers walking backstage. Back to commercial.

– We are back and Rusev is celebrating in the back and Renee Young says that he looks elated. Rusev asks Renee what that means. Rusev says he has broken the viper in half and he returns home a conquering hero. Rusev starts chanting as he walks away.

In the Arena:

The Singhs introduce Jinder Mahal and he makes his way to the ring.

Jinder says it is hard to believe but some of you were in an uproar over what he said about Nakamura. Nakamura did not like it either, but apparently his face is full of delight. We see a photo on the TitanTron. Jinder says he is alway angry and they show his “angry face” and it is the same photo. Jinder says half of you are jingoistic and believe that the people of Japan feast on feline and dine on dolphin. Your prejudice is all that Shinsuke Nakamura has to look forward to. You will turn on Nakamura just like him. Jinder says that Nakamura is an artist and they show his “artistic face” and it is the same photo.

Jinder says after he beats Nakamura at Hell in a Cell, this will be his “defeated face” and it is the same photo. Jinder says that Nakamura ‘rooks the same’

The people chant your name and sing along with your entrance music, but it hides their xenophobia. Behind your back, they are saying you get your hair cut by a dog groomer. They call you Mr. Miyagi (Samir and Sunil do the wax on, wax off gesture). Jinder responds to the people saying ‘that’s too far’ and says wait until what he has to say in Punjabi. We go to commercial.

– We are back and Renee Young is with Shinsuke Nakamura. He is asked about Jinder Mahal and Nakamura says that Mahal is funny, but not as funny as when he wins the WWE Championship.

In the Arena:

AJ Styles comes to the ring and he has something to say before his US Title Match.

AJ says before he talks about Baron Corbin, after what happened last week between Kevin Owens and Mr. McMahon, Kevin has no idea what he has done. You beat up the man responsible for AJ Styles being in WWE. You beat up the man responsible for the WWE Universe being here. AJ says he was excited to hear that Kevin and Shane will be in Hell in a Cell because you won’t survive.

AJ talks about the Short Cut King Baron Corbin. He used a short cut to cash in the Money in the Bank briefcase and he failed. He had a chance to redeem himself against John Cena and he failed. AJ says when you step in the ring with the Phenomenal One, you will fail. You can huff and puff, but you will never blow down the House that AJ Styles built. The music hits and out comes Baron Corbin.

WWE United States Title Match: Baron Corbin vs. AJ Styles

Corbin hits the ring and we get formal ring introductions from Hamilton. Corbin decks AJ before the bell rings. Corbin unloads in the corner as the referee tries to get him to stop. Tye Dillinger runs out for the save and takes out Corbin’s knee. Tye unloads and sends Corbin out of the ring. Referees run down to break up the fight. Corbin scrambles back into the ring and sells an ankle injury. AJ is slow to recover in the corner as well. Corbin clutches his ankle. AJ attacks Corbin and applies the Calf Crusher. The hold is broken as Corbin rolls to the floor and the referee talks to AJ. Corbin clutches his ankle on the floor as the referee checks on him and AJ’s music plays.

No Contest

– Still to come, Charlotte Flair gives thanks to fans for their support of her dad. Back to commercial.

– We are back and Baron Corbin limps in the back and Renee Young stops him. Baron says he feels violated. He would have won the title but the Perfect Zero attacked him. Then AJ Styles put him in the Calf Crusher. Corbin says he will not whine. He says he is going to get even.

In the Arena:

Charlotte Flair makes her way to the ring. Charlotte wooos and then she says it is good to be back. Charlotte thanks everyone for their thoughts and prayers while her dad was sick. It has been a rough six weeks but her dad is making a comeback. However, when she was away, she learned a valuable lesson. Life is fragile and it is unexpected. That is why you have to make the moments count. From here on out, she is going to make every moment as big as possible for her and her dad.

Natalya interrupts and she comes to the ring with some people carrying an easel. Natalya says she is happy that Ric is doing better. Natalya says that it is time to talk about something else and she says that Charlotte can stay in the ring. Natalya says as your champion, she is honored to host the first ever Celebration of Women. Natalya mentions Florence Nightengale, Oprah Winfrey, and the women in the Mae Young Classic. It has been women who have broken down barriers and led to new opportunities. They need to focus on one women. A woman who completed the journey that Amelia Erhart could not finish. Natalya says it is a woman she is very proud of. Natalya reveals a photo of herself.

Charlotte says that was truly inspiring and uplifting. Charlotte thanks Natalya for interrupting her because she is here to challenge Natalya for the Women’s Title.

Becky Lynch’s music plays and she come out.

Becky says that her and Charlotte can agree that Natalya is crazy. She says Natalya is the craziest there is, the craziest there was, and the craziest there ever will be. Becky says she loves Charlotte’s father but there is only one place that title is going and that is to her.

Naomi comes out and she tells Nattie she has to stop because Nattie does not represent all women. You don’t even represent the women of Smackdown. The only thing you represent are your stank cats. Naomi says that since Becky and Charlotte are asking for title matches…

Tamina Snuka’s music plays and she comes out with Lana. Lana tells Natalya not to listen to these disrespectful villagers. Natalya says that she appreciates that Lana and Tamina respect her. Lana tells the Crazy Cat Lady to shut up. Lana says they are here with a Ravishing Revolution and the other women have had their chances and lost. It is about Tamina. Natalya leaves the ring and she says she is not crazy and she will be the champion forever.

Daniel Bryan’s music plays and he comes out. Daniel tells Gloria Steinhem to calm down and he apologizes for interrupting her celebration. Tonight, Becky Lynch, Naomi, Tamina, and the returning Charlotte Flair will compete in a Fatal Four Way Match and the winner will face Natalya at Hell in a Cell. We go to commercial.

The Hype Bros vs. The New Day

Back from the break and out comes The Hype Bros. The Usos are out to join the announcers for commentary. New SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day are out next for this non-title match. We see how they won the titles from The Usos last week in Las Vegas. It will be Big E and Kofi Kingston in action tonight as Xavier Woods watches from ringside.

Big E starts off with Mojo Rawley and takes control. The Hype Bros take an early breather at ringside to regroup as The Usos look on. We go to commercial.

Back from the break and Mojo works over Kofi for a 2 count. Big E and Zack Ryder end up tagging in at the same time and Big E unloads with suplexes. Ryder turns it around and hits his moves but Kofi breaks the pin up. Mojo gets sent to the floor, allowing Kofi to run the ropes for a big dive. The finish sees Ryder take The Midnight Hour for the non-title pin.

Winners: The New Day

– We get another look at Kevin Owens’ attack on Vince McMahon from last week. Tom welcomes Owens for an interview, live via satellite.

Via Satellite:

Owens wants to apologize first. He doesn’t know what came over him. He’s watched the footage over & over, and still can’t believe what he did. He apologizes to the WWE Universe, the officials and a heart-felt apology to the McMahon family. Owens also can say with sincerity – Shane McMahon had it coming. Owens says Shane made him do everything. It was Shane that disrespected him first. Owens says he has nothing but respect for Vince and when he shook his hand and got his word, all of a sudden Vince became Shane. Owens was looking at Shane. Owens has another apology, for anyone who watches Hell In a Cell because what he did to Vince is nothing compared to what he will do to Shane. Owens says people like him don’t go to Hell for what he’s going to do, they go to Heaven. That’s it for the interview. Back to commercial.

– We are back and Mojo Rawley tells Zack that he is sick and tired of losing. He says something has to give. Mojo tells Zack if they want things to change, they have to do something drastic.

In the Arena:

We go back to the arena and out comes Dolph Ziggler with a mic. He says he’s been coming out lately and exposing the elaborate entrances of Superstars that can’t lace his boots. Ziggler says he’s the greatest in-ring performer in WWE history but fans still don’t get it. The lights go out and here comes Ziggler doing Triple H’s entrance. Ziggler takes shots at Triple H for WWE NXT, wearing mom jeans and spitting the water out. Ziggler says that’s not him, he can do something a little more… CM Punk chants start up. The lights go back out and here comes Ziggler doing the entrance of WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels.

Ziggler rants some more before stopping and coming out with another entrance – this time it’s the DX entrance. There are more CM Punk chants now. Ziggler has two words for us… who cares? Ziggler asks who cares about two dads acting like teenagers, begging fans to like their jokes to keep them relevant. Ziggler says all fans care about are these superficial entrances. Fans don’t care about in-ring performances. They don’t care. Ziggler says he is the best ever and fans couldn’t care less. Ziggler says he doesn’t care about the fans. He drops the mic and walks off to the back.

– The announcers plug the WWE Network and No Mercy. Still to come, the Fatal 4 Way main event. Back to commercial.

Fatal 4 Way: Tamina Snuka vs. Becky Lynch vs. Naomi vs. Charlotte Flair

Back from the break and out comes Becky Lynch. Tamina Snuka and Lana are already waiting. Naomi is out next and Charlotte Flair is out last. The winner of this match will face SmackDown Women’s Champion Natalya at Hell In a Cell.

The bell rings and Tamina attacks Charlotte, taking her to the corner. Tamina unloads on the other opponents and takes control. Becky and Naomi get tossed out to the floor. Flair fights back but Tamina slams her to the mat. Tamina stands tall and grabs Charlotte for a suplex. Tamina covers for a pin attempt as we go back to commercial.

We are back and Tamina picks up Charlotte for a slam but Charlotte gets to her feet and she kicks and chops Tamina. Charlotte goes for the leg and then Becky with a back heel kick and Naomi with a leg drop for a near fall. Charlotte chops Naomi and then she sweeps the legs on Becky for a near fall. Becky with a back heel kick. Becky Irish whips Naomi and Charlotte sends her to the apron. Naomi with a springboard cross body on Charlotte and Becky and Naomi gets a near fall on Becky. Naomi with kicks to Charlotte and then Naomi with a wheelbarrow sit out stunner for a near fall.

Naomi with a sunset flip followed by FTG but Becky breaks it up. Becky with DisArmHer on Naomi and Tamina breaks it up. Tamina with a Samoan drop but she misses a shoulder into the corner and hits the ring post. Naomi with a jaw breaker to Becky. Becky with a double jump side kick on Naomi and then on Charlotte. Tamina with a clothesline to Becky but Charlotte with a spear to Tamina.

Charlotte pulls Naomi out of the corner and then Charlotte goes up top for a moonsault and she hits it on Naomi and Tamina and she gets a near fall on each of them. Charlotte with a figure four on Naomi but Becky goes up top and hits a leg drop on Charlotte and Tamina breaks up the cover.

Tamina gets Becky up for a Samoan drop and she hits it. Tamina goes up top and hits a Superfly splash and hits it on Becky but Naomi breaks up the cover. Lana pulls Naomi to the floor and Naomi with a round kick to Lana. Tamina with a thrust kick to knock Naomi off the apron. Charlotte with a boot to Tamina and she gets the three count.

Winner: Charlotte Flair
