For many of you that tuned into the WWE Network to watch the SummerSlam Kickoff Pre-show matches, you may have noticed that the arena looked nearly empty.
According to our correspondents at Sunday’s event, fans were not allowed to enter into the building until 5PM, which is the exact time that Kickoff show started. The Hardy Boyz & Jason Jordan vs. Miztourage match started around 5:30ish and a vast majority of the fans were still outside the arena waiting to get in.
Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed the nearly-empty arena on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio and claimed that The Miz and other participants in the match were absolutely “furious” at having to wrestle with the arena basically empty.
Matt Hardy on the other hand had a different point of view of the empty arena. He sent out the following tweet:
Greatly appreciate the passion of you WONDERFUL wrestling fans tonight. We wrestled so early that I felt as if I DELETED part of the crowd. https://t.co/jR7ZoKfzPZ— REBORN by FATE (@MATTHARDYBRAND) August 21, 2017
