WWE RAW Results – Jul 17, 2017

WWE RAW Opener:

Tonight’s WWE RAW opens up with a video for the bit reveal from Kurt Angle. We go right to the ring and out comes Dean Ambrose as JoJo makes the introduction. Ambrose comes to the ring with a steel chair.

They show what happened last week with Ambrose, Seth Rollins and The Miztourage. Ambrose is looking for a fight. He challenges WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz to come out and bring his buddies. Ambrose keeps waiting but the music hits and out comes Seth Rollins instead. Rollins asks why is Ambrose picking a fight he can’t win on his own. Ambrose told him to stay out of his business last week but at the end of the night it looked like Ambrose was fighting Rollins’ battles. Rollins appreciates Ambrose’s toughness but he believes Dean needs to calm down and come up with a better plan. They go on and Ambrose brings up what happened with The Shield. Rollins finally apologizes. He lives with what happened every single day but he’s moved on. Rollins turns his back and dares Ambrose to hit him with the steel chair.

Ambrose looks to be considering the chair shot but he tosses the chair out of the ring instead. The music hits and out comes The Miz with Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas. Miz says this is touching, like a country song, but it’s not going to work. Miz keeps talking as they surround the ring now. They all have chairs now too. Bo gets on the apron first. Ambrose knocks Miz off the apron and takes him to the floor while Axel and Dallas unload on Rollins. Miz drops Ambrose and sends him into the steep steps. Rollins is triple teamed now.

Axel and Bo hold Rollins while Miz drops him face first into a steel chair with a Skull Crushing Finale. Fans boo as The Miztourage stands tall in the middle of the ring. They leave but stop to smack Ambrose with a chair on the way out. Ambrose, Axel and Dallas stand tall with steel chairs as Miz’s music hits.

– Still to come, Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe with a SummerSlam title shot on the line. Also, Kurt Angle makes his big announcement and Bayley vs. Alexa Bliss. We go to commercial.

– Back from the break and The Miztourage is walking with Maryse backstage. Charly Caruso approaches for comments but Miz shuts her down. They have said everything they’re going to say tonight.

Alexa Bliss vs. Bayley

We go to the ring and our first comes Bayley. RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss is out next for this non-title match.

The bell rings and Bliss slaps Bayley hard. Bayley drives Bliss back into the corner and unloads with kicks. Bliss turns it around with kicks of her own. Bayley comes right back and takes Bliss down with more strikes. The music interrupts and out comes Nia Jax as Bliss rolls to safety under the bottom rope. Jax marches to the ring as we go back to commercial.

Back from the break and Bliss has control as Nia looks on. Bayley fights back but Bliss drops her for a 2 count. Bliss continues to focus on Bayley’s arm and shoulder now. Bayley sends Bliss down face first. Bayley looks to make her comeback now.

Fans chant for Bayley as he hits right forearms. Bliss takes her to the corner but it backfires. Bayley with more offense and an elbow. Bliss blocks a slam and nails the arm. More back and forth now. Bayley with a flying elbow. Bayley with a back suplex and a top rope elbow but Bliss rolls to the floor. Nia gets in the way and stops Bayley from hitting Bliss. Bliss nails a cheap shot and drops Bayley. Bliss brings it back into the ring. Sasha Banks runs to ringside and attacks Nia, dropkicking her into the apron as Bliss looks on.

Bayley takes advantage and rolls Bliss up for a 2 count. Bayley nails a Bayley-to-Belly for the win.

Winner: Bayley

– Still to come, The Hardys vs. The Revival.

– We go to the announcers but Corey Graves has to leave and go to the back. Cole leads us to a look back at the ESPN ESPY Awards last week, with appearances by John Cena and others. We also see Stephanie McMahon being honored by ESPN the night before with the Stuart Scott ENSPIRE Award. Back to commercial.

– We are back with a video package for Roman Reigns.

Backstage:

Kurt Angle is in his office and he is nervous. Kurt tells Corey he is having second thoughts about coming clean. He wonders if he should do it. Maybe this isn’t something that should be televised. Corey tells Kurt they are living in a golden age of Social Media and it is going to get out. Kurt needs to go out and tell the truth. Corey tells Kurt he has nothing to be ashamed of. Kurt says this is something everyone should hear from him. Kurt says Corey’s friendship means so much to both of them.

– We see footage from last week when Tozawa pinned Neville. Then we see what happened on 205 Live when Neville attacked Tozawa.

Backstage:

Titus O’Neil is with Apollo Crews and Akira Tozawa. Titus says Apollo got clobbered by Braun Strowman, but that happens to a lot of people. Akira beat Neville last week on Raw but he got attacked by Neville the next night. Ariya Daivari enters and he asks Tozawa where is the honor. Someone with honor does not use low blows or beg for rematches. Tonight, he will finish what he started last week before being interrupted by Neville.

Brian Kendrick and Drew Gulak vs. Jack Gallagher and Mustafa Ali

We go to the ring and out first comes Brian Kendrick. Back to commercial.

Back from the break and out comes Jack Gallagher. Drew Gulak is also out with Kendrick as Mustafa Ali is out with Gallagher. We see highlights from the recent Kendrick vs. Gallagher feud on WWE 205 Live. Kendrick looks to start with Gallagher but he tags in Gulak instead. Gallagher takes control of Gulak early on. Gulak gets a break and drops Ali from the apron. Gallagher fights back but Gulak sweeps him and turns it around.

Gulak keeps control until Gallagher sends him flying across the ring. Kendrick comes right in and goes to work on Gallagher. Gallagher nails a big headbutt and tags in Ali. Ali comes right in and hits the inverted 450 on Kendrick for the win.

Winners: Mustafa Ali and Jack Gallagher

– Enzo Amore is backstage walking. We go to commercial.

In the Arena:

We are back and Enzo Amore makes his way to the ring.

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Enzo says no one can get a reaction on the mic like him. He knows the repurcussions of his actions. If he says it, he owns it. Sometimes, his losses outweigh his assets. The same holds true in this business as in life. You gotta win some, you gotta lose some. You always gotta fight for what you believe in. Enzo says that he believes there was a point in time when Colin believed in what they did. Enzo says maybe he believed in it more than Colin. He threw caution to the wind and he let Colin pick him up and throw him at their opponents because he wanted to win.

When you threw him, it was you who was left standing at seven foot tall. Being seven foot tall didn’t win them any championships. He says this ain’t the NBA, this is the WWE and this is a ring, not a basketball court. Last week, you proclaimed that when you threw him out of the ring like a piece of trash, you threw him out of your life. You did not throw him out of his life. Enzo says if you knock him down nine times, he is getting up ten times.

Enzo wants to see what happened last week.

Enzo goes on but the music interrupts and out comes Big Cass to his new theme.

Cass says Enzo is always running his mouth and didn’t learn his lesson at Great Balls of Fire. Cass is gointg to beat some sense into Enzo and hopefully he will finally learn to shut his mouth. Cass marches to the ring as Enzo waits. Enzo leaves the ring as Cass enters. Enzo goes over the barrier now. He finds a fan with an Enzo wig on and brings him over to watch what’s about to happen to Cass. The music hits and out comes Big Show. Enzo taunts Cass as Show makes his way to the ring.

Cass stares Big Show down as he heads to the ring. Cass nails a big boot as Show is on the apron. Show with a headbutt. Show pulls Cass out of the ring and sends him into the barrier. Show launches Cass into the barrier again. Show with more offense and another toss into the barrier. Cass fights back and drives Show into the barrier. Cass with big right hands to stun Show against the barrier. Show fights back and launches Cass into the ring apron. Show scoop slams Cass on the floor as Enzo looks on. Show brings Cass into the ring and delivers a big chop while he’s on his back. Show climbs in but Cass shoves him back into the ring post. Cass with another shot into the ring post. Cass pushes Show into the ring and kicks him. Cass mounts Show with strikes now. Cass keeps control and in comes Enzo but Cass floors him with a boot. Cass stands tall as fans boo. Cass marches to the back as Show slowly gets to his feet. Show looks on as Cass stops to turn around and stare back at him.

– Roman Reigns is backstage warming up when Charly Caruso approaches him for comments. Reigns says the stakes are high tonight but that’s when he does his best. Reigns says he will beat Samoa Joe tonight and go on to Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, which means he will be the next Universal Champion.

– Still to come, Kurt Angle’s announcement. Finn Balor vs. Elias Samson is next. Back to commercial.

Backstage:

We are back and Dean Ambrose is with Seth Rollins talking about how he doesn’t need his help. Rollins says if Ambrose didn’t jump the gun, that wouldn’t have happened. Kurt Angle comes in and says it’ll be Rollins and Ambrose versus any two members of The Miz’ entourage. Ambrose suggests they take on all three. Angle makes the match official for next week. Rollins shakes his head.

In the Arena:

Elias Samson is in the ring, and the crowd chants, “We want Bálor.” Samson says he’ll get him soon enough, but for now they need to keep their cellphones down and hold the applause until he finishes his song. This song is dedicated to the crowd. It’s about lust and greed. Finn Bálor cuts him off. They’ll fight, next. Back to commercial.

Elias Samson vs. Finn Balor

The bell rings, and they locks up. Samson drives him into the corner and gives a clean break. Bálor takes him down with a snapmare and kicks him in the back. Bálor then applies an arm bar. Samson fights up and scoop slams him into the ropes. Samson punches away at him before slamming him onto the apron. Samson chokes him on the middle rope before connecting with a clothesline. Samson applies a full nelson. Bálor fights up, so Samson sends him into the ropes. Bálor puts the brakes on and connects with an overhead kick.

Bálor boots him back and connects with a forearm. Bálor dropkicks him in the head and punches him in the corner. Bálor gets on the shoulders, but Samson counters into a sit-out powerbomb for a near fall. Samson sends him into the ropes and hits a back suplex backbreaker for a two count. Samson goes to the second rope, but Bálor kicks him off to the floor. Bálor catches him with a baseball slide before viciously kicking him in the face from the apron. Bálor then dropkicks him into the barricade. Samson grabs his guitar and smashes it on Bálor! The referee calls for the bell.

Winner by DQ: Finn Balor

After the match, Samson leaves as we go to replays and trainers check on Balor on the floor. Bray Wyatt appears on the big screen and laughs at Finn Balor. Bray says you didn’t expect that did you? Bray says he has been watching you and you didn’t expect that. You have feelings, just like everyone else in that sea of humanity. Bray says he lives for that look. That look of pain and suffering. It ignites the fire in his soul. He feels the need to put you not just in pain, but in agony. The hair on the back of his neck stands up and his heart beats faster. He needs to punish Finn. You say you are from Irish mythology. Bray says he is real and he is the eye of the storm. The best part is that he is going to enjoy every second of it.

– Still to come, Reigns vs. Joe. Back to commercial.

Backstage:

We are back and Kurt Angle is on the phone and he says he is a little calmed down. Bayley and Sasha Banks enter the office and Bayley says they have a little disagreement. Sasha says Bayley thinks she deserves a title shot but people saw Great Balls of Fire and she would have had the title. Bayley says Sasha won by count out but she did not pin Alexa like she did last week or earlier tonight. Kurt says they both deserve to wrestle for the title and he is not going to decide, you will. Next week, you will wrestle and the winner will face Alexa Bliss at SummerSlam.

– The announcers hype WWE Battleground and the WWE Network.

– We see footage of The Revival attacking The Hardys last week. Charly is backstage with Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder. They talk about attacking The Hardys because they’re The Hardys last week and say they’re going to do it again this week.

Akira Tozawa vs. Ariya Daivari

We go to the ring and out comes Akira Tozawa with Titus O’Neil. We go to commercial.

Back from the break and out comes Ariya Daivari. Cole shows us a photo of Hassan Yazdani, the Iranian wrestler that Daivari was talking about looking up to earlier. Tozawa looks to take control early on but he sells a shoulder injury as Daivari takes over and goes to work. Daivari keeps Tozawa grounded and works on the shoulder as Titus tries to rally for Tozawa.

Tozawa tries to fight back again but Daivari drops him for a 2 count and focuses on the shoulder. Daivari screams at Tozawa and smacks him while he’s down. Tozawa comes back with kicks but misses one. Tozawa drops Daivari with a big suplex.

Titus gets the “ah!” chant going. Tozawa goes to the top but has to roll through. Daivari takes advantage and drops Tozawa on the shoulder for another 2 count. Daivari with a running knee to the back of the head in the corner for another 2 count. Daivari stomps away as Titus gets on the apron now. The referee stops the match and announces Daivari as the winner. It looks like Titus called for the referee to end the match.

Winner: Ariya Daivari

After the match, Tozawa looks shocked. Daivari dedicates the win to Hassan Yazdani. Tozawa argues with the referee and isn’t happy about Titus causing the finish. Titus and Tozawa argue while walking to the back.

– Kurt Angle is walking to the ring. Back to commercial.

In the Arena:

We are back and Kurt Angle makes his way to the ring.

Kurt says he is a little nervous. He wants to apologize for being a distraction to the WWE Universe. Kurt says he wants to talk about what has been happening. He was taught that there are consequences for your actions. He found out that a serious action happened and he had to deal with the consequences. Kurt says he was afraid it would hurt his family but his family is 100% supportive of him. Kurt says the WWE Universe is supportive of his announcement.

Kurt says he dated a young lady while in college. They stopped dating, but he found out that she gave birth to a baby boy. Kurt says he was unaware of the birth and the child was adopted. This child was adopted by a family who had great American values. This child was a great athlete and student. He was drafted by the MLB but he wanted to become a WWE Superstar. Kurt says he is happy that he did that. They are going to settle this in the ring. Kurt brings out his son… Jason Jordan.

Angle starts crying as the American Alpha music hits and out comes Jordan. They then embrace in the ring. Angle holds his arms up and hugs him again. Back to commercial because we need time after this SHOCKING news…

– Back from the break and we see what just happened with Angle and Jordan.

The Revival vs. The Hardys

We go to the ring and out comes Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder. Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy are out next.

The Hardys attack first but the two teams are separated. The referee calls for the bell and here we go. Matt starts off with Dawson and takes control, taking it to the corner.

Jeff tags in and keeps up the attack on Dawson. Matt comes back in for some double teaming in their corner. Matt takes Dawson down as we see Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson backstage watching. Matt ends up taking Dawson to the corner for shots into the turnbuckles as fans do the “delete!” chants. Dawson is stunned in the corner now. Matt with a clothesline and a bulldog for a 2 count.

The Hardys with another double team on Dawson as Jeff comes in for a 2 count. Wilder runs in but they take him down. Wilder takes a big double team move and gets knocked to the floor. Matt and Jeff stand tall as we go to commercial.

We are back and Matt punches Dawson on the apron but Dawson tags in and drop kicks Matt in the leg and then he drops elbows to the leg. Dawson puts Matt in the tree of woe and Wilder tags in and they work over the leg. Jeff interferes but Dawson and Wilder double team Matt while the referee is out of position. Dawson kicks Matt in the back of the leg. Dawson with a step over toe hold. Wilder tags in and he kicks Matt in the leg and then wraps the leg in the ropes. Wilder with a seated splash to Matt’s leg and Dawson tags in.

Dawson with an elbow drop to the leg. Matt with elbows to get out of the hold and he kicks Dawson away but Dawson stops the tag. Matt with a backslide for a near fall. WIlder tags in and he stops Matt from making the tag. Wilder with an elbow drop to the leg. Matt gets away but Dawson tags in and he drop kicks Matt. Dawson is kicked to the floor but Wilder tags in and he stops Matt from making the tag but Matt with a back drop and Jeff tags in. Jeff with a reverse atomic drop and leg drop to the midsection followed by a drop kick for a near fall.

Wilder with an Irish whip but Jeff with boots when Wilder charges into the corner and Jeff with a splash for a near fall. Dawson distracts Jeff and Wilder hits Jeff from behind and knocks Matt off the apron. Matt pulls Wilder to the floor and Jeff with a rollup for a near fall. Jeff with a Twist of Fate for a near fall. Matt sends Wilder to the fllor and Jeff with Whisper in the Wind. Wilder crotches Jeff and Dawson gets the three count.

Winners: The Revival

Backstage:

We go to the back for Samoa Joe in the interview area. He is asked about Roman Reigns and his path of destruction. Joe says he is not a man who possesses qualms. He showed he does not fear Brock Lesnar and he came within inches of beating him. Roman’s perspective is skewed. Where he exists in the real world, it is bigger than that. Roman thinks that Joe is just an obstacle in Roman’s way to Brock Lesnar. Joe says he is a force of nature. He has had his hand raised twice before and the third time will be the charm.

– Cole leads us to a video on WWE’s relationship with the Special Olympics, featuring a powerlifter named Norris Peterson talking to Dana Warrior. Norris is sitting in the front row for RAW tonight as well. He gets a big ovation from the crowd. Back to commercial.

– Back from the break and Titus O’Neil is with Tozawa backstage. Titus apologizes for getting the match called earlier but he was thinking of Tozawa’s future. Tozawa wants Titus to get him a match with Daivari for this week’s WWE 205 Live.

– Samson vs. Balor in a No DQ match is announced for next week.

Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe

We go to the ring and out first comes Roman Reigns. The winner of this match will go on to face WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. Samoa Joe is out next.

The bell rings and they lock up. Reigns with a headlock. Joe with an early slap but Reigns comes right back and floors him. Reigns rocks Joe back off the apron and sends him to the floor. Joe regroups on the floor while Reigns stands tall in the ring. We go to commercial.

We are back and Joe withi an Irish whip and elbow followed by an enzuigiri. Joe gets a near fall. Joe with knees to Reigns and then Joe with jabs and other punches in the corner. Joe with forearms and jabs to Roman but Reigns with a rollup for a near fall. Joe with a back elbow for a near fall. Joe with Mongolian chops to the neck and he works on the neck. Roman gets back to his feet but Joe with a knee and suplex for a near fall.

Joe works on the neck again and Roman with punches and clotheslines followed by a flying clothesline attempt but Joe catches Roman. Roman with elbows to escape and then he hits the flying clothesline for a near fall. Roman with NeverEnding Story and Roman with a clothesline. Roman looks around and he sets up for the Superman Punch but Joe goes for the floor. Reigns jogs around the ring and Joe with a clothesline. Reigns with a clothesline and we go to commercial.

We are back and Joe with a punch. Reigns with punches but Joe gets Roman on his shoulders for a moment but Roman gets to his feet and he hits a Samoan drop for a near fall. Joe with a reverse atomic drop followed by a boot to the head and a back senton for a near fall. Joe goes for a uranage but Roman with elbows and Roman goes for a Saito Suplex and Joe blocks it with knees. Roman with an arm drag and a Superman punch for a near fall.

Both men struggle to get back to their feet and… Braun Strowman is not finished with Roman Reigns!

Braun marches to the ring and pulls Joe out of it and then he sees Roman and enters the ring. Reigns with an uppercut and Braun is knocked off the apron. Reigns kicks Strowman and punches him. Strowman sends Roman into the ringside barrier. Strowman tosses Reigns over the top rope back into the ring. Joe and Strowman exchange punches. Joe cannot Irish whip Strowman and Strowman with a clothesline. Strowman pushes Reigns away and hits a splash into the corner.

Strowman kicks Joe but Reigns with a boot and punch. Joe climbs the turnbuckles and chokes Strowman but Strowman gets Joe on his back after giving Roman a boot. Reigns with a Superman punch to Strowman. Reigns goes for a Superman punch but Strowman catches him and hits a spinebuster. Strowman with a power slam to Joe. Strowman picks up Roman and hits a running power slam on Reigns.

Strowman thinks about leaving but Strowman grabs Reigns while security makes their way to the ring and wave their arms and point at Strowman to tell him not to do stuff. Strowman with another running power slam to Reigns.

Strowman leaves the ring and security remembers to get out of Braun’s way.
