Reason Why Austin Aries Asked for Release from WWE

As previously reported, Austin Aries asked for his release from WWE and was granted it. WWE made the announcement on their website and social media Friday afternoon.

It’s being said that the reason Aries asked for his release was that he was very unhappy with the direction his character was taking on WWE programming. He felt that his 205 Live run wasn’t really good and was not happy about not winning the cruiserweight championship.

After his program with Neville, the company started having him doing silly storylines that no one would care about. Aries was also not a fan of this.

Dave Meltzer discussed his release on the latest installment of Wrestling Observer Radio and said that he could not confirm if Aries asked to be removed from 205 Live and be placed on the main roster but was rejected so he asked for his release. This is a scenario that could have happened, but we can not confirm at this time.

We will keep you updated if we receive anymore information regarding his sudden release.
