NXT Results – Jul 5, 2017

We are at Full Sail University and your announcers are Mauro Ranallo, Nigel McGuinness, and Percy Watson.

We see footage from earlier today when Roderick Strong arrived at Full Sail with his family.

Match Number One: Kassius Ohno and Hideo Itami versus Alexander Wolfe and Killian Dain

Wolfe and Ohno start things off and they lock up. Wolfe with a punch out of the corner and he misses a punch in the other corner and Ohno with a knee to knock Wolfe to the mat. Itami tags in and Ohno with kicks. Itami with some kicks of his own. Itami with a snap mare and knee drops. Itami pulls down the knee pad and he leaps over Wolfe and ‘kicks dirt’ on Wolfe. Wolfe with an Irish whip but Itami with a kick and he drops Wolfe on the top rope on a tornado move. Itami kicks Dain when he tries to interfere.

Wolfe with a kick and Dain tags in and kicks Itami in the corner.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Wolfe kicks Itami and he works on the leg. Wolfe with a boot to the head and he gets a near fall. Dain tags in and he connects with a clothesline into the corner. Dain kicks at Ohno on the floor and then he hits a splash on Itami for a near fall. Dain with a forearm across the chest and then he connects with an elbow to the top of the head. Dain works on the neck and Itami gets to his feet. Itami with a forearm but Dain keeps Itami from making the tag. Dain with a punch and he gets Itami up as Wolfe distracts Ohono and pulls him out of the corner.

Itami with a round kick to the chest and Ohno is not in the corner for the tag. Dain with a splash into the corner and he gets a near fall. Itami with a back fist and Wolfe tags in. Itami with clotheslines. Itami with a forearm to Dain and then Wolfe knocks Dain off the apron when Itami moves. Itami with a fisherman’s suplex for a near fall. Ohno wants the tag and Itami ignores him. Itami with a Falcon Arrow for a near fall when Dain breaks up the cover with a back senton. Ohno with a boot to Dain that sends him to the floor. Ohno wants to know why Itami did not make the tag.

Wolfe with a bicycle kick to know Ohno off the apron. Itami with kicks to Wolfe and then Itami gets Wolfe on his shoulders but Dain makes the tag. Itami hits the Go to Sleep on Wolfe but Dain with a running cross body for the three count.

Winners: Killian Dain and Alexander Wolfe

We take a look at footage from the Performance Center when Ember Moon was asked about returning to face Asuka. Ember says she is looking at tape to get another title match.

Ruby Riot stops by to ask Ember if she thinks she is the next one. Ruby says that Ember had her chance and Ruby hasn’t had hers. Ruby says that she is next.

Ember says the end result is Asuka. Anyone who wants to step on her warpath, she is willing to take them on.

We look at highlights from last week’s Last Woman Standing Match between Nikki Cross and Asuka.

Percy mentions that they tried to contact Asuka about her victory and what is next and they show a tweet from Asuka showing a beach and that she is waiting for someone to come around to challenge her.

We go to commercial.

We are back with a Drew McIntyre video package.

Drew is in the interview area and he is asked about the title match tonight. Drew says it will be a fantastic match. The next time they have this conversation, they will be talking about his title match. You look at the former NXT champions, these men won the title and the world pointed at them and said this is the person who will change the industry. He needs to be part of that lineage.

Drew is asked about Killian Dain. Drew says it does not matter if it is Roderick Strong or Killian Dain, all roads lead to one destination, Drew McIntyre as NXT Champion.

We take a look at a video of Tommaso Ciampa turning on Johnny Gargano after they lost their chance at the NXT Tag Titles at Takeover Chicago.

Johnny Gargano will return next week.

We go to footage when Peyton Royce and Billie Kay were at the Perofrmance Center. Peyton stops any talk about the Mae Young Classic. She says they feel hurt and disrespected. Peyton mentions that no one else wished Billie Kay a happy birthday.

We see Andrade Almas and Thea Trinidad arguing in the background while Billie complains about wanting cake.

Andrade is asked about the woman with him and he refuses to talk.

We see higlights of a match between Bianca Belair versus Aliyah for a chance to qualify for the Mae Young Classic.

We go to commercial.

We are back with the Roderick Strong video package.

Roderick Strong is in the back and he is asked about what is on his mind going into this match and Roderick says victory.

Bobby Roode is asked for his thoughts going into the match. He says Roderick Strong has been living a fairy tale for the last seven weeks. Tonight, he stands across the ring from reality.

Match Number Two: Roderick Strong versus Bobby Roode for the NXT Title

They lock up and Strong backs Roode into the corner and Strong with a clean break when Roode goes into the ropes. They lock up again and Roode with a side head lock and Roode holds on as Strong tries to send him off the ropes. Roode with a waist lock take down and he floats over on Strong’s back and slaps him in the head to show him no respect. Roode lets out a Glorious and Strong with a jumping leg lariat for a near fall. Strong with a chop and then he floats over and hits a drop kick. Strong gets a near fall.

Roode goes to the floor and he chops Roode on the ramp and sends him back into the ring. Roode with a double sledge to the back as Strong returns. Roode with kicks to the back. Roode with a kick. Strong with a hurdle leap frog and then he hits a uranage back breaker for a near fall. Roode goes to the floor and he holds his back after what Strong has done.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Strong with another back breaker for a near fall. Strong chops and punches Roode in the corner as the referee makes his count and he pulls Strong out of the corner. Roode with a boot to the head followed by a blockbuster. Strong holds his neck while Roode holds his back. Roode with kicks to Strong. Roode sends Strong into the turnbuckles and punches and chops Strong. Roode with a kick and he chops Strong. Strong with punches but Roode with a kick. Strong blocks a suplex but Roode with forearms to the back. Roode goes for a suplex but Strong lands on his feet and Strong with a cradle back breaker. Roode goes to the floor and Strong with a baseball slide to Roode. Strong chops Roode in front of his mother and fiance.

They fight by the ring steps and Roode pushes Strong and Strong’s leg is caught in the gap between the steps and ring post. Roode kicks the steps and Strong holds his knee. Roode kicks Strong in front of Roderick’s mother and fiance. Roode works on the injured knee and Strong kicks Roode. Roode with a knee drop to the injured leg. Roode chops Strong and puts the leg in the ropes and drops a knee on the injured leg. Roode with a seated splash onto the leg and he does it again. Roode with an elbow drop to the leg and he follows with a knee to the hamstring and another elbow to the leg.

Roode chops Strong and kicks him in the back of the leg. Strong with punches but Roode with a kick to the leg. Roode with a forearm to the knee and then he tries for an atomic drop to the knee but Strong counters into a sunset flip for a near fall. Roode with a clothesline.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Roode with an ankle lock as he stands on the other foot. Strong tries to kick Roode to get out of the hold but Roode holds on. Roode gets a near fall. Strong with a boot to the head and he gets out of the hold. Strong sends Roode into the turnbuckles and Strong struggles to get back to his feet. Roode punches Strong but Strong punches back. Roode with a punch. Strong with punches and he hits a flying clothesline followed by a forearm to the head. Roode runs into a boot and Strong with an enzuigiri followed by an Olympic Slam.

Strong runs into an elbow and Roode goes to the turnbuckles but Strong pulls Roode off the turnbuckles and hits a back breaker for a near fall. Strong tries to get Roode on his shoulders but Roode stays on the mat and he clips Strong and kicks the injured knee. Roode with more knees to the hamstring. Roode sets for a figure four but Strong kicks him away and gets a near fall. Roode with a spinebuster for a near fall.

Roode signals for the Glorious DDT but Strong blocks it and hits Death by Roderick for a near fall. Roode wrings the injured leg into the ring post. Roode goes to the turnbuckles but Strong with an enzuigiri to stop Roode. Strong goes to the turnbuckles and he sets for a back breaker onto the top turnbuckle but Roode falls to the floor. Strong sends Roode back into the ring and he gets a near fall.

Strong could not get Roode up for a suplex and Roode with punches. Strong with a punch. Roode avoids a jumping knee and Strong almost hits the referee. Roode hits the Glorious DDT but Strong kicks out at two. Roode looks at Strong’s family and points at them before he returns to focus on Roderick. Roode picks up Strong but Strong with a jumping knee and he hits a running knee into the corner followed by a running face first slam and then he hits End of Heartache and he gets the three count, but Roode’s foot was under the ropes.

The referee waves off the three count but Roderick goes to celebrate with Marina. The referee tells Roderick that Roode’s foot was under the rope.

Roode knocks Strong off the apron and Strong hits the guardrails.

The match continues and Roode with a Glorious DDT on the floor in front of Roderick’s family. Roode sends Strong back into the ring and Roode with another Glorious DDT for the three count.

Winner: Bobby Roode

We go to credits.
