Tonight’s WWE SmackDown will take place from the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit as the road to the Royal Rumble heats up.
Tonight’s main event will see Dean Ambrose battle Luke Harper with SmackDown Tag Team Champions Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton at ringside. SmackDown will also see Heath Slater, Tyler Breeze and Konnor compete in a Wild Card Triple Threat to determine new #1 contenders to The Wyatts. No other matches have been announced but actor Ryan Phillippe of USA Network’s “Shooter” will be appearing.
WWE is focusing on the following points for tonight’s show:
- Luke Harper targets The Lunatic Fringe
- Who will win a SmackDown Tag Team Title opportunity for his tandem?
- When will the WWE Universe finally learn who attacked Nikki Bella?
- Is SmackDown Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss really injured?
- “Shooter” star Ryan Phillippe is coming to SmackDown LIVE this Tuesday
On Luke Harper targeting Dean Ambrose:
In recent weeks, The Wyatt Family has been on an absolute tear, capturing the SmackDown Tag Team Titles and gaining a strong foothold on SmackDown LIVE. But in last week’s Fatal 4-Way Elimination No. 1 Contender’s Match, Luke Harper failed to emerge from the chaos with a WWE Title opportunity after Dean Ambrose hit him with Dirty Deeds for the pin.
Tonight, Harper will attempt to unleash his own dark brand of retribution on The Lunatic Fringe. Will he take down the unstable Superstar? Or will Ambrose introduce his bearded opponent to the Ambrose Asylum?
On who will win a Smackdown Tag Team title opportunity:
Due to the injury that Zack Ryder suffered in the No. 1 Contenders’ Battle Royal that he won one week ago, the final three Superstars that he was in the ring against – Heath Slater, Tyler Breeze and Konnor – will compete tonight in a Wild Card Triple Threat Match.
Whoever wins the contest will earn his team the right to face The Wyatt Family for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship next week on SmackDown LIVE!
