One match discussed for the first-half of next year is The Miz vs. Dean Ambrose for the Intercontinental title.
With Ambrose chasing after the Intercontinental title, it is quite possible that he is being pushed out of the main event programming for awhile after Cena returns.
Speaking of John Cena, the major feud that is expected to kickoff 2017 for the SmackDown brand will be John Cena chasing after his 16th World Title reign. As previously noted, it is rumored that Cena will capture the title from AJ Styles before WrestleMania and go on to face The Undertaker at the huge annual event. The match is expected to be billed as a Career vs. Title match.
