As noted, it appears that Austin Aries was injured at last night’s NXT live event. Aries took a kick to the face from Shinsuke Nakamura before going down quickly to the mat. After taking one more move from Nakamura the ref moves in to check on Aries before throwing up the “x” sign to the backstage area indicating a real injury. The referee then calls for the bell to end the match.
At this time we are not entirely sure the extent of Aries injury but will report it as new information becomes available. Aries has since posted the following photo of his injury:
