Video: Finn Balor Drops the WWE Universal Title, Title Plans Revealed

As seen on tonight’s RAW, the first-ever WWE Universal Champion Finn Balor came out with his shoulder in a sling to relinquish the title, just one night after winning it by defeating Seth Rollins at SummerSlam.

As noted, Balor suffered a shoulder injury after taking a powerbomb into the barrier. He’s expected to be out of action for up to 4-6 months.

Balor cut a promo on how he achieved the impossible at SummerSlam, then relinquished the title. Balor said he is coming for the title as soon as he’s able to.

It was announced by RAW General Manager Mick Foley and RAW Commissioner Stephanie McMahon that a new Universal Champion will be crowned on next week’s RAW after a series of matches involving Sami Zayn, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Enzo Amore, Big Cass, Chris Jericho and Roman Reigns. Stay tuned for updates on the title.
