Robbie E Bashes Former Manager, Talks Why WWE Never Hired Him and More

Former TNA X Division and Tag Team Champion Robbie E was the latest guest on the Pancakes and Powerslams Show. Robbie had much to say about his former manager, as well as his time as an extra for the WWE, and TNA career, and below are some highlights:

Robbie E, as the “Jersey Shore” character, made his TNA in-ring debut in 2010. His debut was accompanied with a manager, Cookie, to add more heat to his persona. While the duo was popular on-screen, Robbie stated that it was a different story for Cookie backstage. “Wrestling is fun, and wrestling is games, but at the end of the day, it’s still a job and you have to be able to differentiate between the two,” said Robbie. “She wasn’t mature enough for the job, and didn’t know how to handle herself and take it seriously. She kinda just did it to herself. I kind of consider her to be like the devil (laughs).” He added, “[She thought] she was the star of the show, and was untouchable, like she was this big star, and it just wasn’t the case.”

Robbie E performed a number of extra work jobs for WWE, including getting beat up by Edge during a feud with him and Ric Flair. When asked why WWE never capitalized on hiring him from his extra work he stated, “They go out proving [the importance of] the right place at the right time. I don’t think it was the right place at the right time. They’re always changing. Now it’s the smaller guys, and when they were looking at me, they were thinking of a big guy. I don’t think that they didn’t like me or appreciate me, I just don’t think it was the right place or right time.

While they have reformed, TNA Creative decided to split the BroMans for a short period of time to experiment them as singles competitors. When asked about the reason behind the split, Robbie said that “you want to keep moving and trying things out to see what works the best, knowing that you could go back to the BroMans.” He added, “we were just trying to do our thing as singles wrestlers, and I think it broke us out a little more and strengthened us as singles wrestlers. And now the BroMans are better than ever.”

Robbie E also talks Impact Wrestling’s move to Thursdays, feuding with Jay Lethal, Amazing Race, and more.
