Possible WWE Universal Title Plans, Original Plans Changed

We’re still two weeks away from WWE SummerSlam and the finish probably hasn’t been decided on but at last word, Finn Balor was set to defeat Seth Rollins to become the first-ever WWE Universal Champion.

This is a Vince McMahon idea as he has wanted Balor on the main roster for a while, long before the actual call-up in the Draft. Triple H agrees with the move and feels Balor’s success on the main roster is a very good look for WWE NXT. WWE officials that matter are pleased with Balor’s work so far and they’re really hoping he turns out to be a big star with the fans.

Vince originally wanted Roman Reigns vs. Rollins for the Universal Title, with the idea that Dean Ambrose would pin Reigns in the Triple Threat at Battleground. That plan was changed to Balor vs. Rollins some time that Monday. We’ve noted how Vince has been somewhat down on Reigns and he’s more open than ever to giving the face of the company spot to someone else. Vince went as far as having Balor look strong in his RAW win over Reigns after originally booking a finish that would have seen Balor duck a Superman punch, then roll Reigns up.
