WWE RAW RESULTS – JULY 25, 2016

WWE RAW Opener:

Tonight’s WWE RAW opens up with a new intro video. We’re live from Pittsburgh with Michael Cole, Corey Graves and Byron Saxton. They’re back near the production area. We go to the ring with Commissioner Stephanie McMahon and General Manager Mick Foley.

Mick welcomes everyone to Raw. He says the first episode of the new era of Raw begins tonight… right here… in Pittsburgh. Mick brings out the entire roster of Raw and some are wearing their red Raw shirts, but it does not appear to be mandatory for tonight. Mick says as General Manager of Raw, he will be working with everyone on the stage to bring the most thrilling and action packed Raw every week.<br />
Stephanie says Mick will have full authority to do that. Stephanie wants to talk about the main event of Battleground when Roman Reigns lost it for all of them. Now the WWE Champion is on Smackdown. She says Seth had it in the bag before Roman screwed it up for everyone. She says Roman is not a good guy or a bad guy, he is just a loser. In 1,209 episodes of Raw, there has always been a WWE Champion. Everyone demands a World Champion and that is what they are going to get.

Mick says tonight’s episode will feature two Fatal Four Way Matches. The winners of the matches will meet in the main event. Stephanie says the winner will face Seth Rollins at SummerSlam for the brand new Championship title.

Mick says it is named for all of you so it will be called the WWE Universal Championship. Mick introduces the eight participants. They are Sami Zayn, Sheamus, Chris Jericho, Cesaro, Roman Reigns, Rusev, Kevin Owens, and Finn Balor.

Stephanie points out the Women’s Champion is still on Raw and she asks Charlotte to step forward. Mick mentions that Charlotte lost the match last night when she tapped out to Sasha Banks. You will be defending the Women’s title tonight against Sasha Banks. Stephanie tells the men in the Fatal Four Way Matches to be ready because the first match is next. We go to commercial.

WWE Universal Title Qualifier: Cesaro vs. Rusev vs. Kevin Owens vs. Finn Balor

Back from the break. We go to the ring and out first comes Cesaro followed by WWE United States Champion Rusev. Kevin Owens is out next. Finally, Finn Balor makes his first entrance to RAW and gets a big pop.

Balor goes after Owns while Rusev goes after Cesaro. Cesaro with a European uppercut and Irish whip followed by a running European uppercut. Owens chops Balor while Cesaro comes off the apron and takes down Rusev. Owens shows he is the Chinlock Master while Rusev punches Cesaro. Owens with a shoudler tackle but Balor with a drop kick to Owens. Cesaro sends Rusev into the ringside barrier and he hits a cannonball off the apron onto Rusev. Back to commercial.

We are back and Rusev and Owens work over Balor. We see a double suplex during the commercial break. Owens kicks Balor while staring at Rusev. Owens has something to say to Balor while he chokes him. Rusev works over Cesaro while Balor punches Owens but Owens with a back elbow. Cesaro is sent to teh floor. Rusev suplexes Balor and owens applauds but he wants to show Rusev how it is done. Rusev with a German suplex to Balor and the challenge is on. Balor with elbows to stop the German suplex attempt but Owens with a clothesline and he gets a naer fall. Owens punches Balor while Cesaro punches Rusev. Owens punches Cesaro and Rusev sends Balor to the floor. Owens and Rusev suplex Cesaro back into the ring and Rusev makes the cover but Owens tells him to wear him down and do the flip. Owens with a back senton while Rusev hits a somersault senton.

Owens sends Balor into the ring and Balor with forearms to Rusev and Owens. Balor with a cross body but Owens catches Balor and hits a Schwein and gets a near fall. Rusev with a Saito suplex on Owens but misses a diving head butt on Owens when Kevin moves. Owens and Balor exchange punches until Cesaro takes care of them with a cross body from the top. Cesaro with running European uppercuts to Owens and Rusev and then he sees Balor and he adds a stop on the trip. Rusev stops Cesaro from hitting the Giant Swing on Owens. Rusev and Cesaro go to the floor. Owens goes for a power bomb but Owens with a back drop and Owens holds on for a sunset flip. Balor rolls through and hits a drop kick.

Balor with a flip dive onto Owens, Cesaro and Rusev. Rusev stops Balor from going up top but Balor with a kick. Balor with kicks to Cesaro and he hits a side slam from a reverse suplex position and we go to commercial.

We are back and Owens chops Cesaro and puts him on the turnbuckles. Balor with forearms and he climbs the turnbuckles. Rusev comes under and hits the Tower of Doom. Rusev runs into a boot from Owens. Cesaro with a European uppercut. Rusev with a spin kick but Balor with a Pele Kick. Owens with a neck breaker out of a Torture Rack. Owens with a frog splash for a near fall on Balor that is broken up by Rusev. Rusev is sent to the floor and Owens with a super kick. Owens with a pop up Power Bomb to Balor and Cesaro breaks up the cover. Cesaro goes for the Gotch Style Neutralizer but Owens with a back body drop and Cesaro lands on his feet. Cesaro with a springboard European uppercut. Rusev stops the giant swing with a super kick to Cesaro and then he kicks Owens.

Rusev stomps on the back and he puts Owens in the Accolade but Cesaro picks up Rusev for a dead lift suplex and Cesaro gets a near fall. Cesaro tries for the Sharpshooter but Rusev counters into the Accolade but Cesaro counters into a rollup for a near fall. Rusev with a round kick and Cesaro with a clothesline and both men are down. Rusev and Cesaro exchange punches. Cesaro with the Giant Swing and he applies the Sharpshooter. Owens with a super kick to Cesaro. Owens with a cannonball to Rusev and Balor with a running drop kick that sends Owens into Rusev. Balor with Slingblade to Owens and then he hits the running drop kick to Rusev and then hits the Coup de Grace on Rusev for the three count.

Winner: Finn Balor

After the match, Balor celebrates as the crowd pops.

– Still to come, The New Day will celebrate their record-breaking title reign and new cereal. Also, Nia Jax debuts. Back to commercial.

– Back from the break and we go to the announcers, still over in their new location and standing as they talk about the brand split.

Nia Jax versus Britt Baker

We go to the ring and out comes Nia Jax for her main roster debut. Local wrestler Britt Baker waits in the ring.

They lock up and Nia sends Britt to the mat and then hits a splash in the corner. Nia catches Britt and runs her into the turnbuckles and puts her in the Tree of Woe. Nia with a running hip into the corner. Nia with a leg drop and she pulls Britt up instead of getting the three count. Nia with a head butt and she hits a leg drop for the three count.

Winner: Nia Jax

Backstage:

Sasha Banks is in the back and Goldust and R Truth are playing Pokemon Go and they stop by her. Tom Phillips asks Sasha about her match and whether she feels any pressure. Sasha says Charlotte has been dodging her. She says that she has been living a ten year old girl’s dream wtih this women’s revolution. When she wins tonight, it will be a dream come true. She will become the champion and there is nothing that Dana and Charlotte can do about it. We go to commercial.

WWE Universal Title Qualifier: Sheamus vs. Chris Jericho vs. Sami Zayn vs. Roman Reigns

Jericho goes after Reigns and so does Sheamus. Zayn watches everything. Reigns punches Jericho and Sheamus away and Zayn joins in. They send Reigns to the floor and Sheamus and Jericho follow. Reigns is sent into the ringside barrier. Jericho and Sheamus surround Zayn but Zayn punches Jericho and Sheamus attacks Zayn from behind. Sheamus with a short arm clothesline and Jericho kicks Zayn. Jericho and Sheamus double team Zayn. Sheamus with a back elbow to Zayn and Jericho kicks Zayn. Sheamus with European uppercuts. Sheamus with a belly-to-back suplex on Zayn.

Zayn with a kick and forearms to Sheamus. Zayn with an Irish whip and he runs into Sheamus’ boot. Jericho and Sheamus send Zayn over the top rope and he goes to the apron. Zayn with a head scissors to Sheamus and then Zayn sends Jericho onto Sheamus. Zayn teases a dive to the floor and he does the Arabian Press back into the ring with Sheamus and Jericho move. Reigns with a uranage to Zayn for a near fall. Reigns knocks Jericho and Sheamus off the apron and he suplexes Zayn. Reigns with an uppercut.

Zayn with punches but Reigns with a punch to take care of Zayn. Reigns with a forearm to the back of the head. Zayn with a springboard over Reigns and he forces Reigns over the top rope. Sheamus stops Zayn and connects with forearms to Zayn. Jericho with a springboard drop kick to Sheamus. Roman clotheslines Jericho and Zayn over the top rope to the floor. Reigns with a plancha onto everyone. We go to commercial.

We are back and Sheamus and Jericho with a double suplex to Reigns and Jericho tries for a Jericho cover. Jericho kicks reigns and then Reigns is Irish whipped into the corner and Jericho and Reigns follow with splashes. Jericho chops Sheamus and kicks him in the corner. Sheamus with an Irish whip and Sheamus with a knee lift. Zayn with a cross body to Sheamus for a near fall. Jericho with a clothesline follwoed by one from Sheamus. Reigns with clotheslines and he hits a flying clothesline. Reigns with a Samoan drop to Jericho and then he goes for a doubel header Juggernaut Broad Jump Drop Kick to Sheamus and Jericho.

Reigns with Neverending Story to Sheamus and Jericho misses a splash so Reigns continues. Zayn with a Blue Thunder Bomb for a near fall. Zayn sets for a Helluva Kick and Reigns with a boot and he gets Zayn up for Splash Mountain but Zayn kicks out. Reigns sets for the Superman Punch but Sheamus with a Brogue Kick. Zayn with a Helluva Kick to Sheamus and he gets a near fall. Jericho sends Zayn to the floor and gets a near fall on Sheamus. Zayn with a kick and then he goes to the turnbuckles for the arm drag but Jericho blocks it and he puts Zayn in the Walls of Jericho.

Zayn tries to get to the ropes but Jericho pulls him back into the ring and Sheamus with a Brogue Kick to Jericho and Zayn breaks up the cover by Sheamus. Sheamus with European uppercuts to Zayn. Sheamus with a uranage back breaker and then he gets Zayn up for White Noise but Reigns with a Superman punch to Sheamus and then Jericho. Sheamus with one to Sheamus and Zayn with a rollup for a near fall. Reigns with a Superman punch to Zayn. Reigns blocks a Codebreaker and Reigns with a Superman punch.

Reigns sets for the spear on Jericho but Jericho with a kick and Codebreaker to Reigns for a near fall. Jericho kicks Reigns and sets for a spear but Reigns leaps over Jericho and hits a spear on Jericho for the three count.

Winner: Roman Reigns

In the Arena:

We are back and it is time for the New Day and they have balloons that read 337 and they are sent to the rafters. The ring is full of balloons.

Xavier says their match up last night did not go as they wanted. He is happy that Bray is drafted to Smackdown. It does not take away from the fact that for the last 337 days the New Day have been your WWE Tag Team Champions. Big E says 337 days is a long time ago. Jennifer Garner and Gwen Stefani were both married. Kofi says 337 days ago, BOOTY-Os was just a dream, but now it is a reality. Xavier sends it to a video package celebrating their greatness.

Kofi says that was a huge package. They said it got the job done. In order to commemorate this event, with this crowd, they will select one person to be an honorary member of the New Day. They look around the ring for someone and find someone in a New Day t-shirt and help him over the guardrail into the ring. They ask him his name and he says his name is Sonny Boy. Kofi tells him to tell everyone his government name. They keep trying to get him to tell everyone his real name but he keeps saying Sonny Boy. The New Day finally accept the fact that his name is in fact Sonny Boy. Kofi tells him to celebrate with them.

Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows pull Kofi and Xavier out of the ring. Gallows and Anderson attack Big E in the ring and they hit Magic Killer.

Karl and Luke take off Kofi and Xavier’s shirts. Gallows sends Woods into the steps. Luke and Karl look for Sonny Boy and find him. They throw the shirts at Sonny Boy. We go to commercial.

Neville vs. Curtis Axel

JoJo introduced Curtis Axel as Mr. Irrelevant. Cole explained that he was dubbed that because he was the last man drafted. Axel took the mic and said he was picked last because they saved the best for last…

Neville with a side head lock and a drop kick to the back of the head for a near fall. Neville with a reverse chin lock. Axel with a shoulder tackle and Nevile with a standing shooting star press. Axel sends Neville to the mt. Axel with a drop kick for a near fall. Axel with a reverse chin lock. Axel with a knee and a back breaker for a near fall. Axel with punches. Neville kicks Axel and hits a back heel kick. Neville with a dead lift German suplex. Neville with a running forearm and round kick in the corner. Neville with a belly-to-back suplex and Neville goes up top for the Red Arrow and the three count.

Winner: Neville

Backstage:

We are back…stage and Darren Young says he almost had the Intercontinental Championship but no one puts his hands on you Coach. Bob tells Darren he will get the title. Goldust and R Truth stop Bob and he tells him a Pokemon is on him. Darren calms down Bob and tells him it is just a game and Bob says it is a war.

– We have a Finn Balor video package.

Backstage:

Tom Phillips is with Charlotte and Dana Brooke in the interview area. Tom asks Charlotte about Sasha’s comments from earlier tonight. Charlotte says last night Sasha had a partner, tonight she is all alone. Sasha has the audacity to talk about pressure. Charlotte says pressure is defending the title night after night. She has evolved the women’s division into what it is today. Sasha will bow down to the Queen and Sasha can bank on it. Back to commercial.

WWE Women’s Title Match: Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte

We go to the ring and out first comes Sasha Banks to a pop. Back to commercial.

Back from the break and Sasha looks on as WWE Women’s Champion Charlotte is out with Dana Brooke. We get a look back at Bayley and Sasha defeating Charlotte and Dana at Battleground last night. We get formal ring introductions from JoJo.

They lock up and go around the ring while locked up. Charlotte pushes Sasha away and they lock up again. Sasha gets a near fall while still locked up. They roll around and Charlotte pushes Sasha into the corner. Sasha with a rollup for a near fall. Charlotte goes for the leg but Sasha blocks it and she gets a near fall with a back slide but Charlotte holds on. Sasha with an elbow and Dana grabs Sasha’s leg and the referee warns Dana. Charlotte goes for a slam but Sasha lands on her feet. Sasha with a lungblower and she applies a straitjacket with her foot in Charlotte’s back.

Charlotte gets to her feet and she backs Sasha into the corner and snap mares Sasha. Sasha goes for the Banks Statement but Charlotte gets to the ropes and the floor. Sasha with a baseball slide to knock Charlotte down and Sasha with Meteora off the apron. Sasha gets a near fall. Charlotte sends Sasha to the mat and hits a neck breaker. Charlotte with a forearm to knock Sasha off the apron. Charlotte follows Sasha to the floor and hits a running boot that sends Sasha’s head into the ringside barrier. Charlotte takes the belt and tells Sasha she does not deserve it and Sasha kicks Charlotte and sends her into the apron.

Charlotte gets back into the ring and Sasha tosses the title belt to Dana and she catches it so the referee thinks she may have used it and Dana is sent to the back. We go to commercial.

We are back and Charlotte has her boot against the back of Sasha’s head while she stretches Sasha. We see Sasha being sent into the turnbuckles during the commercial break. Sasha with a drop toe hold but Charlotte with an elbow. Sasha with Meteora in the ring. Sasha with forearms and Charlotte fires back. Charlotte with a knee to the midsection and Sasha avoids a boot and Sasha with clotheslines and a drop kick. Charlotte misses a kick and Sasha with a knee. Sasha puts Charlotte in the ropes and hits the double knee drop on the middle rope and Sasha gets a near fall.

Charlotte sends Sasha into the turnbuckles. Sasha lands on her feet on a suplex attempt but Charlotte with a neck breaker. Charlotte goes up top for a moonsault but Sasha moves. Charlotte lands on her feet and Charlotte goes for a flip leg drop but Sasha gets her knees up. Sasha with a suicide dive. Sasha gets a near fall. Sasha goes up top. Charlotte stops Sasha and sets for a superplex but Sasha is dropped on the top rope.

Charlotte goes up top for a moonsault onto the floor and she connects. Charlotte gets a near fall. Charlotte sets for the figure four but Sasha with a rollup for a near fall. Sasha with a kick but Charlotte with a boot to the head and hits Natural Selection. Sasha grabs the rope to stop the referee’s count. Charlotte applies the figure four leg lock and Sasha slaps Charlotte but Charlotte tries to bridge and Charlotte rolls to the floor and keeps the figure four while hanging from the apron.

Charlotte gets back into the ring and Sasha kicks Charlotte into the ropes and applies the Bank Statement. Charlotte rolls over but Sasha holds on. Charlotte has her foot on the rope and Sasha has to release the hold. Sasha with a lungblower and applies the Banks Statement and Charlotte taps out.

Winner and NEW WWE Women’s Champion: Sasha Banks

After the match, Byron Saxton interviews Sasha in the ring and he asks her what this moment means for her.

Sasha says she did it. She says it is the dream she had since she was ten years old. She said she was the best and now the title means she is the best. It is a new era in the WWE. It is the era of The Boss. It is the era of change. It is the era of Women’s Wrestling. Sasha says every time she steps in the ring, she will show why she is champion. She will show that there is only one boss in the WWE and it is her. We go to commercial.

– We are back and Byron as asking James Ellsworth about fighting Braun Strowman. He says it is an honor to wrestle on Raw, but he did not expect to wrestle Braun Strowman.

James Ellsworth vs. Braun Strowman

Ellswoth with a punch and that was not very effective. Strowman with a forearm to the chest and he picks up Ellsworth and then kicks him into the corner. Strowman with a splash into the corner and Strowman picks up Ellsworth and sends him face first into the mat for the three count.

Winner: Braun Strowman

– We have a Roman Reigns video package. Back to commercial.

– Back from the break and we see Golden Truth playing Pokemon Go backstage again.

– We go to the ring and out comes Enzo Amore with Big Cass to a pop.

Enzo says Monday nights got a little more Raw. Enzo quotes some Wu Tang Clan. Colin says he likes it raw but there are a number of other things he likes raw. He mentions Cookie Dough, eggs, egg whites, fish…

Epico and Primo come out and Primo says the only raw thing to talk about is the raw beauty of Puerto Rico. Epico invites everyone to Puerto Rico. Colin says there is a word to describe Epico and Primo and the crowd spells it out.

Enzo Amore and Big Cass vs. Epico and Primo

Enzo and Epico start off and Primo makes the blind tag and Enzo with a cross body. Enzo is sent into the ropes and Primo with a splash to the back. Primo with a snap mare and rake of the boots across the face. Primo misses a splash and Colin tags in and he hits a slam and elbow drop for a near fall. Enzo is sent to the floor but Epico is clotheslined over the top rope. Primo sends Colin over the top rope.

R Truth walks through the ring looking for Pokemon.

Primo turns around into a big boot for the three count.

Winners: Enzo Amore and Big Cassady

Roman Reigns walks in the back and he sees Finn Balor. Finn wishes Roman luck and Roman wishes Finn luck. Finn says he is Irish, he invented luck. Roman says he is Samoan, ’nuff said. We go to commercial.

WWE Universal Title Qualifier: Finn Balor vs. Roman Reigns

Back from the break and out comes Finn Balor for the main event. The winner will face Seth Rollins in the main event of SummerSlam to crown the first-ever WWE Universal Champion. Roman Reigns is next.

Reigns backs Balor into the corner and he biels Balor across the ring. Reigns with another biel. Reigns with an Irish whip and he misses a charge into the corner and Balor leaps to the apron and kicks Reigns. Reigns with a shoulder tackle. Reigns chokes Balor in the ropes but Balor with a drop kick. Balor with a back heel kick but Reigns wtih an elbow. Reigns with Neverending Story and the referee pulls Reigns out of the corner. Reigns with a punch to Balor and Finn hangs over the bottom rope. Reigns goes for the Juggernaut Broad Jump Drop Kick but Balor moves and hits a double stomp and sends Reigns to the floor and hits a running drop kick that sends Reigns into the ringside barrier and we go to commercial.

We are back and Reigns with a Samoan drop for a near fall. Reigns holds his knee and we see footage of Balor working on the knee during the commercial break. Reigns with a belly-to-back into a uranage and he gets a near fall. Reigns with a reverse chin lock. Balor punches Reigns but Reigns with a head butt and punch in the corner.

Reigns with an Irish whip but Balor with a boot to the face. Balor with forearms but Reigns with a rollup into a one arm sit out power bomb for a near fall. Reigns sets for the Superman punch but Balor moves and Balor runs into a boot. Reigns goes to the turnbuckles but Balor with an enzuigiri. Balor kicks Reigns off the apron and Balor with a running kick from the apron. Balor rolls Reigns back in and Balor goes up top and Balor with a double stomp to the back of the head. Balor gets a near fall.

Balor sets for a reverse suplex but Reigns with forearms. Balor with Slingblade and then he sets for the running drop kick but Reigns with a Superman punch for a near fall. Reigns gets Balor up for Splash Mountain but Balor counters with a sunset flip. Reigns with a one arm power bomb and a one armed sit out power bomb for another near fall. Reigns sets for the spear but Balor with Slingblade and a running drop kick that sends Reigns into the corner. Balor with Coup de Grace for the three count.

Winner: Finn Balor

After the match, Tom Phillips asks Roman if he has anything to say. Roman looks at Finn and he says he hopes Finn wins the Universal Title at SummerSlam because he wants him again. Roman says he respects that dude.
