WWE RAW Opener:
Tonght’s show starts off with a graphic in memory of Robert Windham (Blackjack Mulligan)
We are in Los Angeles, California and your announcers are Michael Cole, John Layfield, and Byron Saxton.
The man who lost the match for control of Raw, Shane McMahon, makes his way to the ring and he does the Shane-O Shuffle.
Shane wants to know what is up. He says it feels good to be out here. He says his dad let him run Raw for his own personal amusement. He must be very amused because he is back tonight. He wants to give credit where credit is due. He says it is due to the support of all of you. He thanks everyone. He wants to continue what he started last week with new superstars and fresh matchups.
Shane says that Natalya has challenged Charlotte for the Women’s Title and that will happen tonight. There will be a tag team tournament to determine the new number one contender and that will start tonight. Shane reminds us that AJ Styles is the number one contender after last week. Shane says an opportunity was squandered last week so he is going to give Sami Zayn another chance. Sami will face AJ Styles and if Sami wins, Sami will be added into the World Title Match in three weeks.
Kevin Owens comes out and he says it is a good thing that this might be your last night in charge. If you think Sami should have that opportunity, you may have knocked a few screws loose jumping off that cell. Kevin says that he is being screwed over here.
Shane says that Kevin was the one who screwed over Sami Zayn. You have had opportunities. You lost in the fatal four way, just as you lost at Wrestlemania.
Kevin wants to correct Shane. He was robbed by Sami at KOMania. Just like he was robbed on Raw. He did not get pnned in that Number One Contender Match. It is also not fair that he has not gotten his rematch for the Intercontinental Title Match. He is in the ring and he demands his rematch tonight.
Shane says that is not how things work here tonight. You have to earn your way. You can earn your shot at the Intercontinental Title Match, but you have to beat one guy. That man has been running all over the back. You will be facing Cesaro tonight. Shane’s music hits and they have words as Shane leaves the ring.
#1 Contenders Match for the Intercontinental Title
Cesaro vs. Kevin Owens
Cesaro’s music hits and he’s greeted by Shane on the stage. He comes out in a suit, then rips it off to reveal his gear. Cesaro heads to the ring as fans cheer. He stops at the Cesaro Section and we go to commercial.
We are back and Owens retreats into the ropes. They lock up and Owens with a waist lock and Cesaro wtih a standing switch. Cesaro with a near fall and Owens goes to the floor.
We see Miz and Maryse watching from the back.
Cesaro gets a side head lock and Owens with a near fall. Owens with punches and forearms. Owens with a side head lock and proclaims he is a side head lock master. Cesaro with a side head lock and he forces Owens to go to the floor and Owens attacks the announce table. Owens apologizes for knocking JBL’s hat off the announce table. Owens punches Cesaro as he gets back into the ring. Owens with chops. Cesaro with European uppercuts and Owens goes to the apron and he drops Cesaro’s surgically repaired arm on the top rope. Owens with forearms to the injury and divorce court.
Cesaro goes to the floor and Owens follows after him. Owens resumes working on the shoulder as they return to the ring. Owens with a knee to the arm and he gets a near fall. Owens with a key lock. Cesao with forearms but Owens with a head butt. Cesaro with an Irish whip and running European uppercut. Owens with an Irish whip and Owens misses a running European uppercut. Cesaro wtih a running European uppercut. Cesaro Irish whips and Running European uppercuts. After four, he hits a drop kick and gets a near fall. Cesaro sets for the Giant Swing but Owens kicks him away. Owens with a rollup for a near fall. Owens sends Cesaro shoulder first into the ring post. We go to commercial.
We are back and we see footage of Cesaro hitting an Avalanche Gutwrench suplex during the commercial break. Owens and Cesaro exchange strikes with forearms from Owens and European uppercuts from Cesaro. Cesaro tries for the Giant Swing but Owens escapes. Cesaro with a double stomp onto Owens. Cesaro is Irish whipped to the apron and Cesaro wtih a boot and he goes up top for a cross body but Owens rolls through and applies a crossface. Cesaro tries to get to the ropes but Owens rolls Cesaro into the center of the ring. Cesaro with a rollup for a near fall.
Cesaro with a Sharpshooter. Owens gets to the ropes.
Miz and Maryse are now sitting while watching the match in their dressing room. Owens with a super kick and he goes up top for a frog splash and connects but he can only get a near fall. Owens says he is awesome and it is over. Cesaro escapes a pop up power bomb attempt and Cesaro hits a springboard European uppercut. Cesaro with the giant swing but he cannot sustain it due to the damage to the arm. Owens sends Cesaro into the turnbuckles and then Owens tries for the pop up power bomb but Cesaro counters with a rana and then hits the Gotch Style Neutralizer for the three count.
Winner: Cesaro
After the match, Cesaro celebrates as we see Maryse and The Miz looking on again and the don’t look happy. Cesaro celebrates with fans at ringside before we go to the announcers.
– We take a look back at what led to tonight’s Women’s Title match, at least everything since last Monday.
Backstage:
Charlotte wants to know from her father why she is the victim. The other women walked away from her. She should be on Legends with JBL but she is forced to defend the title against Natalya. What did she do to deserve this.
Ric wants to know who he should be more angry with, Natalya for getting this title match or Shane for giving it.
Dr. Phil stops by and he says that Charlotte is hard working and intelligent. He is proud of what she has done. He brings up the bond between you and your father. Now he is holding you back. He is stifling and corrupting you. He is getting in your way and giving you these dirty tricks to let you cheat. He tells Charlotte to stand on her own two feet instead of leaning on her father.
Charlotte says that she will chop Phil’s hillbilly ass to Texas. Phil tells Charlotte to stop cheating in the ring. Phil gives Flair a pre-emptive woooo flurry.
Backstage:
Kevin Owens tells Shane McMahon this is a travesty. He has been screwed since Wrestlemania. He says he is sick of this. Kevin tells Shane, with all due respect, whatever happens to Sami Zayn is on your pretty hair. Shane tells Kevin he is out of here and he will not do anything to Sami. We go to commercial.
In the Arena:
The New Day make their way to the ring. They have some New Day Socks on. Xavier says just like a game of NBA Jam, this tag team divsion is on FIRE. There are so many teams that want the same thing. That is to get a piece of the WWE World Tag Team Champions. Kofi asks who deserves it and an owl convention breaks out.

Kofi says eight aspiring teams will fight for the moment of a lifetime. One team will have the chance to dethrone the New Day. Will any of them succeed? NAH. Xavier says it will be so much fun to see them try. Xavier says the first match starts now, because… NEW DAY ROCKS.
They hit the ring and we see a graphic for the tournament with 8 teams – The Lucha Dragons, The Dudley Boyz, Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady, The Ascension, The Usos, Curtis Axel and Heath Slater, The Vaudevillains, R-Truth and Curtis Axel. They introduce the first match.
Number One Contender’s Tag Team Tournament First Round Match
Kalisto and Sin Cara vs. D-Von Dudley and Bubba Ray Dudley
Sin Cara and WWE United States Champion Kalisto are out first. We go to commercial.
The match is joined in progress and the referee checks on Kalisto and they suggest he has hurt his neck. D-Von brings Cara into the ring since he is the legal man. We see Kalisto being sent over the top rope and then clotheslined by D-Von. Bubba with a slam to Cara and D-Von with a head butt and he gets a near fall. D-Von with a forearm across Cara’s chest. D-Von is kicked by Cara. D-Von with a punch to Cara and Bubba tags in. Bubba with cross faces and punches. D-Von tags in and Cara with chops and a springboard cross body. Cara with a springboard back elbow and then he knocks Bubba off the apron. Cara with a chop but D-Von pushes Cara. Cara with a quebrada for a near fall.
Bubba makes the tag and they hit the 3D on Cara for the three count.
Winners: Bubba Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley
After the match, Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady come out to the stage. Enzo introduces himself and Colin.
Bubba says they are doin’ just fine. He tells them and the fans to shut their mouths. He tells them to show him and D-Von some respect. They are the Dudley Boyz and they paved the way for guys like you. D-Von says you are not the best tag team in the division. You exist because of them.
Enzo tells Devin that he exists because his mom and dad got it on. Colin says if you paved the way, then you need to go off the side of the road because they are coming through. He tells them to put on their reflective vests and hard hats. Colin says there is one word to describe them. We go to commercial.
– Kevin Owens is walking out of the building with his security escort. Owens acts like security is actually able to do an effective job as he does what they ask.
In the Arena:
The WWE World Champion Roman Reigns makes his way to the ring. The music stops and fans boo more as Reigns takes the mic.
Reigns says it’s all good because he’s not a good guy, he’s not a bad guy, he’s THE guy. Reigns talks about how he respects both AJ Styles and Sami Zayn for winning titles all over the world but they’ve never won THE championship. Reigns says he plans on being champion for a long time… he’s interrupted by the music and out comes The League of Nations.
Sheamus says Reigns is confident but might not be so confident if he was facing one of The Lads at Payback. Reigns isn’t intimidated by The League. Sheamus says they got rid of their weakest link last week and they’re not happy about being left out of the Fatal 4 Way. Rusev says he’s stronger and better looking than Reigns, so he should be the face of WWE. Reigns says he just proved he’s the ass of WWE. Alberto Del Rio says maybe one of them would have won the Fatal 4 Way last week and any of them can kicks Reigns’ ass for the title. Reigns invites them to the ring for a triple beatdown. They rush the ring and go at it until the lights go out. It’s The Wyatt Family. They come back on and the two teams start brawling. Reigns and The Wyatt Family clear the ring.
Shane McMahon comes out and he is feeling a little Teddy. Shane says he never thought he would see Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt fight side by side. He wants to see more of that. Two members of the League of Nations will face Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns tonight.
– We hear the theme for Total Divas while we see the graphic for the Women’s Title Match and t is next. We go to commercial.
We are back and we see Primo and Epico talking about the great smells of Puerto Rico.
WWE Women’s Championship
Natalya vs. Charlotte (with Ric Flair)
Natalya makes her way out for the next match as Dr. Phil heads to ringside. WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair is out next with WWE Women’s Champion Charlotte in her new robe. Saxton gets a word with Dr. Phil at ringside. He’s observing this match to see if Charlotte takes his advice, lives up to the title of champion and doesn’t cheat.
Charlotte wooos before she goes for the legs and Natalya with a front face lock. Charlotte with a waist lock. Natalya with a standing switch. Charlotte backs Natalya into the corner. They lock up and Natalya with a take down and she goes for a knee bar. They lock up and Charlotte hits a spinebuster for a near fall. Natalya with a cross arm breaker and Charlotte gets to the ropes.
Charlotte gets back into the ring and Natalya blocks a kick. Charlotte is sent face first into the mat and Natalya runs over Charlotte’s back and hits a drop kick. Charlotte goes to the floor again. Charlotte with a chop and neck breaker followed by a kip up. Charlote pulls down the knee pad and she connects with a series of knee drops and she gets a near fall. We go to commercial.
We are back and Charlotte drives Natalya’s head into the mat and then returns to the figure four head scissors and rolls Natalya around the ring. Natalya with a cross arm breaker but Charlotte escapes. Charlotte with a figure four leg lock and she does a partial bridge. Charlotte slaps Natalya. Natalya reverses the hold and Charlotte gets to the ropes. Charlotte with a take down and she goes for the Sharpshooter.
Natalya escapes the hold but she shows the damage from being in the hold. Charlotte wtih a chop and Natalya with forearms. Natalya with a German suplex and she tries for a second one but Charlotte with a counter. Natalya with a discus clothesline and she tries for the Sharpshooter but Charlotte with a punch and rollup for a near fall. Charlotte with a boot and a series of near falls.
Charlotte with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex and she walks across the midsection. Charlotte goes up top for a moonsault but Natalya moves. Natalya with the Sharpshooter but Flair comes into the ring to try to help Charlotte. Flair pulls the referee out of the ring while Charlotte taps out.
Winner: Natalya (by disqualification)
After the match, Byron asks Dr. Phil for his thoughts on the finish of the match and Phil is a little disappointed with what Charlotte did.
– We are given an update on Kevin Owens and we are told that Owens has been ejected from the building. We see what Kevin Owens did last week to Sami Zayn.
Backstage:
Renee Young is with Sami Zayn. Sami is asked about his match against AJ Styles and how he can get into the WWE Title Match at Payback. Renee asks Sami if he is ready. Sami says he is called the Underdog from the Underground. He has been trying to get the WWE Championship. Kevin thought he could finish him. He says that he has heart and soul and Kevin cannot take that from him. He is ready and he did not come this far to lose.
AJ Styles stops by. AJ says it is the truth because he was there with Sami fighting all those years. Now they are in the WWE and he is the only number one contender and he plans to keep it that way.
Tag Team Tournament Match
The Usos vs. Curtis Axel and Heath Slater
We go to the ring and out come The Usos. Back to commercial.
Jimmy and Curtis start things off and Jimmy slides into the corner and connects with an uppercut. Jey tags in and hits a double sledge from the turnbuckles. Jey floats over and lands awkwardly. Axel with a running knee and Slater tags in and hits a suplex. Slater gets a near fall. Slater with kicks to Jey in the corner. Axel tags in and he chokes Jey and Slater gets in a kick. Curtis with a snap mare and reverse chin lock. Axel with a drop kick. Slater tags in and gets a near fall.
Slater with kicks to Jey in the corner. Axel tags in and he chokes Jey and Slater gets in a kick. Curtis with a snap mare and reverse chin lock. Axel with a drop kick. Slater tags in and gets a near fall. Axel tags in and he kicks Jey and chokes him. Slater tags in and Axel with a running back elbow and Slater with a jumping leg lariat and he gets a near fall.
Bo calls for the BO TRAIN and they do it while mocking Jimmy. Jimmy tags in and he sends Slater into Axel and Jimmy gets the three count with a rollup.

After the match, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows attack the Usos and they hit an elevated swinging neck breaker. Anderson sends Jey into the ringside barrier while Gallows sends Jey into the ring steps.

Miz and Maryse are in ther dressing room and Maryse is so outrage at everything. She complain about how you treat her husband. She is angry that there are blue M&Ms when he demands no blue M&Ms. Maryse complain that Miz is force to drink domestic water. Jojo asks about Miz’ victory over Zack Ryder and upcoming defense against Cesaro. Maryse wants to know who let JoJo in. She calls JoJo a groupie.
Miz says the only controversy is that you used Zack Ryder and Cesaro in the same sentence. Miz says he drives an Audi R8. Miz says that Zack drives on the Long Island Expressway. Miz says that he is the Swiss Superman’s Kryptonite. Cesaro is in the room and he says he wanted to see the man who he will be taking the Intercontinental Title from and he says he will be rolling out a red carpet of his European uppercuts.
Miz drinks some water and Maryse and him freak out that it is domestic.
#1 Contenders Match for the World Title at Payback
AJ Styles vs. Sami Zayn
We go to the ring and out comes AJ Styles to a pop. We go to commercial.
Back from the break and out comes Sami Zayn to a pop. If he wins this match, he will join Styles and Roman Reigns in a Triple Threat at WWE Payback.
They lock up with a test of strength but Zayn with a wrist lock. Styles with a reversal into an arm bar. Zayn with a side head lock and Styles wtih a head scissors and Zayn escapes. Styles with a side head lock take down and Zayn with a head scissors. Styles escapes. Zayn with a few near falls. They lock up and Zayn with a wrist lock. Styles with a reversal and Zayn with a reversal of his own. Zayn with an arm bar. Zayn leaps over Styles and hits a few arm drags and then hits a satellite arm drag into an arm bar. Styles pushes Zayn in the corner on a break.
They lock up and Zayn with a wrist lock and Styles kips up and hits an arm drag. Styles with a front face lock take down and Zayn backs Styles into the corner and Zayn chops Styles. They lock up again and Zayn with a side head lock. Styles with a Phenomenal drop kick. Styles with a chop and suplex for a near fall. Styles with a rear chin lock. Zayn with punches but Styles with a back elbow that sends Zayn to the floor. Styles with a slingshot to the apron and then he connects with a knee to Zayn’s face. Styles sends Zayn back into the ring and gets a near fall. Zayn and Styles with a series of standing switches. Styles goes over the top rope when Zayn goes down. Zayn with a flip plancha onto Styles and we go to commercial.
We are back and Styles with a reverse chin lock. Zayn with punches but Styles with strikes and a clothesline followed by a forearm. Styles with a slash into a pump handle gutbuster for a near fall. Styles with the Ushigoroshi for a near fall. Styles sets for the Styles Clash but Zayn blocks it. Zayn with a rollup for a near fall. Styles puts Zayn on the turnbuckles and Zayn with forearms. Zayn with a cross body for a near fall. Zayn with a tornado DDT using the turnbuckles for extra leverage and he gets a near fall. Styles blocks a half nelson suplex and hits a Pele Kick.
Styles goes to the apron but Zayn moves. Zayn with the Blue Thunder Bomb and he gets a near fall. Styles rolls through for the Calf Crusher. Zayn gets to the ropes and Styles releases the hold.
Styles goes up top and Zayn stops Styles. Zayn sets for a superplex but Styles blocks it. Styles wtih a sunset flip power bomb but Zayn lands on his feet. Zayn sends Styles into the turnuckles but Styles gets his feet up on a Helluva Kick attempt. Styles with a Phenomenal Forearm for the three count.

– Chris Jericho is walking in the back because the Highlight Reel is next. We go to commercial.
– Back from the break and we get a replay of what just happened. AJ and Sami are backstage talking when Shane walks up and congratulates them on having such a good match. He says it was awesome and walks off. They shake hands and Sami wishes AJ good luck.
– We go to the ring and out comes Chris Jericho for a special guest edition of The Highlight Reel.
Jericho’s Highlight Reel:
We go to the ring and out comes Chris Jericho for a special guest edition of The Highlight Reel.
Jericho tells everyone to shut up and listen to what he has to say. Tonight is a monumental night. It is the biggest highlight reel of all time. He has the biggest star in WWE history with him tonight. He has a multi tme World Champion and a future Hall of Famer. Chris says his guest is himself. Tonight you are going to learn more about Chris Jericho than you learned before. Chris asks himself what does he owe his success to. Chris tells himself he owes his success to himself. His name is synonymous with being the best in the world at what he does.
Chris came out here to allow you to bask in the glory of the greatest of all time.

Chris thanks himself for the gift. He agrees that he is the best in the world. Chris brings up that he was the first Undisputed champion when he defeated Rock and Stone Cold in the same night. Who could defeat the current number one contender AJ Styles at Wrestlemania.
Chris says that no one on the roster can touch him now.
Dean Ambrose’s music plays and he makes his way to the ring and he has another plant for Jericho and he has some other props with him.
Chris wants to know what Dean is doing. Dean says it is his show now. Chris tells Dean not to touch his plant. Dean has a memo from Shane McMahon and hands it to Chris. Chris points out it is a speeding ticket. Dean asks for it back. Chris is given the memo and it says the Highlight Reel has been canceled and will be replaced by the Ambrose Asylum hosted by Dean Ambrose.
Dean welcomes everyone to the Ambrose Asylum. Dean welcomes his first guest, Chris Jericho. Dean asks the people not to boo his guests.
Dean asks Chris about the scarf. Chris tells Dean the scarf cost $750. He says he knows what Dean is doing. He is doing this because Chris interrupted his victory celebration on Smackdown. Chris has legendary status in WWE and he can go where he wants to go and do what he wants to do. He tells Dean to keep his nose clean or he will bury him. He tells Dean to look at him. He tells Dean to do something smart for the first time and get your stupid ass out of his ring.
Dean asks if this means Chris won’t talk about the scarf. Jericho knocks the mic down. Ambrose kicks him and nails Dirty Deeds. Ambrose’s clip-on tie falls off but he puts it back on. His music hits and he thanks us for watching his show.

Backstage:
We are back and the R Truth and Goldust versus Vaudevllains match will take place on Smackdown along with Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady versus Ascension match.
R Truth is in the locker room and Goldust stops by. Goldust says that Truth promised him an audition and instead they are in the tag team tournament. Truth says it was the audition. Goldust wants to know whose idea it was and we see Dr. Phil, but he leaves.
Apollo Crews vs. Adam Rose
Adam Rose waits with Bo Dallas as Apollo Crews makes his entrance. Crews takes control early on and sends Rose to the floor to regroup. Rose comes back in and they lock up, going to the ropes. Rose with a shot to the head and kicks in the corner.
They lock up and Crews with a side head lock and shoudler tackle. Crews with a hand spring follwoed by a drop kick and then he clotheslines Rose over the top rope to the floor. Rose returns to the rin and they lock up. Rose with kicks to Crews. Rose sends Crews into the turnbuckles and kicks him. Rose with a snap mare and reverse chin lock. Crews with forearms but Rose with an elbow and he gets a near fall. Rose with a forearm and Crews with forearms. Rose tries for a suplex but Crews blocks it and he tries to suplex Rose but Rose blocks it momentarily. Crews with a suplex and both men are down. Crews with punches to Rose and then he hits a Stinger Splash follwoed by a jumping back elbow.
Bo gets on the apron to distract but he realizes that was a bad idea. Rose has a kick blocked and Crews with an enzuigiri followed by the toss sit out power bomb.

Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns vs. Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio
The music hits and Wyatt makes his way out as the fireflies light up the Staples Center. Wyatt hits the ring by himself as we go to commercial.
Back from the break and Wyatt looks on as WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns comes out. They meet in the ring and stare each other down. The League of Nations is out next. Reigns and Wyatt have tension over who’s going to start the match.
Bray and Sheamus start things off and Sheamus with a kick and punch. Bray with a back elbow and he punches Sheamus. Bray with a short arm clothesline. Bray falls to the mat and does the crab walk. They lock up and Roman tags in. Bray and Roman punch Sheamus.
Roman with Neverending Story to Sheamus and Bray tags himself in. Sheamus with punches but Bray wtih a clothesline for a near fall. Sheamus with a knee. Del Rio tags in and he gets a near fall. Del Rio knocks Reigns off the apron. Bray with punches and head butts.
Del Rio with a kick to Wyatt and he punches Wyatt in the corner and sends him into the turnbuckles. Sheamus tags in and kicks Wyatt. Sheamus with a snap mare and reverse chin lock.
Wyatt with a punch but Sheamus with a kick. Wyatt sends Sheamus over the top rope to the floor. Rusev helps Sheamus up and Roman tags in. Reigns with clotheslines and a flying clothesline. Reigns runs into a boot but Sheamus is taken down by Reigns. Reigns knocks Del RIo off the apron.
Reigns winds up for the Superman punch but Sheamus goes to the floor. Reigns punches Sheamus and Del Rio on the floor. Sheamus sends Reigns into the ring post. Sheamus sends Reigns into the post a second time. Sheamus sends Reigns to the floor and then he picks up Reigns for the forearms across the chest.
Reigns with elbows but Del Rio with a kick. Sheamus with the forearms across the chest. Del Rio with an enzuigiri that knocks Reigns down but Del Rio can only get a near fall.
Del Rio puts Reigns in the tree of woe and he punches Reigns. Del Rio goes up top for the double stomp but Reigns counters and throws Del Rio off the turnbuckles. Sheamus tags in and he connects with an elbow. Sheamus with a knee drop to the back of the head. Sheamus with a running shoulder in the corner followed by a knee lift. Roman with a Samoan drop and both men are down.
Wyatt and Del Rio tag in and Wyatt with a clothesline and splash into the corner. Wyatt takes care of Sheamus. Wyatt wtih a uranage and back senton. Bray sets for Sister Abigail but Del Rio escapes. Bray with a flying cross body but Sheamus breaks up the cover. Reigns clotheslines Sheamus over the top rope. Reigns goes for the Superman punch off the steps and Sheamus with a punch and he sends Reigns into the ring steps. Rusev with a kick to Wyatt and Del RIo hits a lungblower and gets a near fall.
The lights go out and Rowan and Strowman go after Rusev and they send him into Yeatonville.
Del Rio goes for the cross arm breaker of Destiny but Wyatt counters into Sister Abgail and he gets the three count while Reigns spears Sheamus.
