NXT Champion Finn Balor recently spoke with the Poughkeepsie Journal while promoting the upcoming NXT live event at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center on April 23rd.
Balor talks about how much fun working with the NXT roster is, going ‘off-script’ at NXT live events, continuing to have WWE main roster goals and more.
On being a part of the NXT roster:
“Believe it or not, it’s even more fun for us than it is the fans. We’re having a blast. It’s an incredible energy. For a lot of us, it’s the first time we’ve been to these places. There a real kind of a sense of positivity among the coaches and staff of what we can do to make this better. That environment encourages a lot of creativity.”
Having fun and showing character:
“I’ve got a pretty wild imagination and a lot of times, I have to be reeled back in. Everyone knows the in-ring product is incredible. The brand has built itself in the ring. This is to show that we also have personalities and can be funny, and think on our feet.”
If he still aspire to reach the WWE main roster:
“Absolutely. I came to WWE to be on WrestleMania and to be in a WrestleMania main event. I won’t say I got sidetracked, but I took a different direction to work with NXT and be part of something I consider incredibly special. I stumbled upon this little pot of gold with NXT. It wasn’t the plan when I came here, but it’s got all of my focus. I’m proud to be the standard-bearer for NXT.”
