Brie Bella appeared on the latest episode of Lilian Garcia’s podcast, Chasing Glory with Lilian Garcia, which features a “throwback” to an exclusive interview with Brie Bella from the vault, as well as an all-new exclusive interview. During the interview, Brie discussed Daniel Bryan returning to the ring.
“From like, literally, the day they told him he couldn’t do it anymore, he has flown himself all over the United States to all different doctors to figure out what he could do to help turn that ‘no’ into a ‘yes’,” Brie said. “There’s been like eight doctors who are like, ‘You can wrestle’. A lot of doctors can’t see why he can’t get in that ring again.”
Bryan has been out of action since 2015 after retiring due to his history with concussions. Bryan has since been visiting doctors who have apparently cleared him to wrestle, however WWE has been apprehensive about clearing him.
“I think [the WWE is] looking at it,” Brie said. “He is on such a mission to get back into that WWE ring, it’s crazy, which caused a lot of arguments in our marriage in the beginning, especially when I was pregnant.”
Bryan has recently been doing several media interviews where he has said that he would be open to wrestling outside of WWE if they wouldn’t clear him. Bryan’s contract with WWE expires in the fall of 2018.
“I’m trying to get cleared as we speak,” Bryan told The Trentonian earlier this month. “All my tests have come back fantastic, better than people who have never had any concussion-type stuff. But it’s a weird thing. We’re in a weird situation politically with the climate around concussions; right now, it’s very difficult. WWE would love to have me back, but is that the smart thing for me as a business to bring me back? If I was to come back, and they let me back, would they get a lot of flak for it? They have a ton of stockholders that they’re responsible for. It’s more than just, ‘Is he healthy to do it?'”
