WWE 205 Live Results – Aug 22, 2017

We begin with a look back at the last week in the Cruiserweight Title picture.

Drew Gulak has a mic and he says he believes in a better 205 Live. He wants everyone to welcome a man who shares in his beliefs, his tag team partner Tony Nese.

Tony takes the mic and wants to know where’s Brooklyn at. He says looking at these people, he knows where Brooklyn is never at, the gym. He tells someone to take another bite of their pizza and waste away. How do you feel looking like that while he looks like this? Tony says he is what a premier athlete looks like.

 Cedric Alexander and Gran Metalik versus Tony Nese and Drew Gulak

Alexander and Nese start things off and they lock up. Nese wants to pose for everyone, especially himself. They lock up and Alexander with a wrist lock but Nese with a reversal. Alexander with a single leg sweep. Alexander holds on to the ropes and he hits the head scissors take down and follows with a drop kick. Alexander decides to pose to mock Nese. Gulak tags in and he kicks Alexander and chops him. Gulak with a hip lock take down into a side head lock. Alexander with a forearm and Metalik tags in. They hit a double hip toss and Alexander with a kick to allow Metalik to get a near fall.

Metalik with a chop and he does a back flip but Gulak moves. Metalik with a slingshot arm drag followed by a missile drop kick and he gets a near fall. Gulak with slaps to Metalik and Metalik goes down. Nese tags in and Gulk is sent to the floor with a back body drop. Nese goes after Metalik but Metalik leaps over Nese, who goes to the floor and Metalik with a quebrada onto Nese.

Nese with a forearm and he gets a near fall. Nese with kicks to Metalik. Nese puts Metalik in the tree of woe but Alexander pushes Metalik off the turnbuckles. Metalik with a rollup for a near fall while Alexander and Nese argue. Nese with a forearm and he knocks Alexander off the apron. Nese with a running forearm and Nese goes up top. Metalik sends Nese to the mat and Metalik goes to the ring post and hits a cross body.

Gulak and Alexander tag in and Alexander with an elbow to Gulak and a drop kick to Nese. Alexander with a back elbow to Gulak followed by a cross body into the corner and an enzuigiri. Alexander with a springboard clothesline for a near fall. Alexander runs into a boot from Gulak and Drew with a clothesline. Metalik makes the tag and Metalik with an alley oop drop kick. Metalik with a splash but Nese breaks up the cover.

Alexander hits a handspring round kick on Nese while Nese does his Count impression. Alexander tags in and both men hit dives to the floor. Gulak with an inside cradle for a near fall. Alexander with a Lumber Check for the three count.

Winner: Gran Metalik and Cedric Alexander

Titus O’Neil is with Akira Tozawa in the locker room. He says they had a setback on Sunday and he wanted Tozawa to wait a little longer to get the rematch.

Tozawa says he is ready to get back his title tonight.

Titus tells Tozawa to use the Power of Tozawa to bring the title back to Titus Worldwide.

We go to commercial.

We are back and it is time for the Gentleman’s Duel between Brian Kendrick and Jack Gallagher.

Jack Gallagher is out first.

Jack says there are people out there who push their buttons and the person who does it for him is Brian Kendrick. A duel is how gentlemen settle things. Jack says that Brian is not a gentleman and he has not been a gentleman lately. He says that he has been called a clown and he was disrespected by Kendrick. He was told he would not make it to the top. Maybe it is true that he has been a gentleman too long. Sometimes, you need to knock someone out. He will show Brian how much of a fighter he is.

Brian appears on the TitanTron. Brian says this is pathetic and he calls Jack pathetic. You surround yourself with toys and ridiculous props. You are proving him right. You are nothing but a mustache twirling clown. You expect him to play duel with him? Brian says he is a fighter. A clown has duels. Brian says he found Jack a suitable opponent.

Brian Kendrick sends in the clown.

Jack gets sprayed in the face with the squirting flower.

Jack gives the clown a head butt and he kicks the clown. Jack grabs the kendo stick and throws it down. Jack throws the pipe down and then he grabs the umbrellas. Jack throws that down and he pulls the cover off the table because the table is the weapon of choice. Jack sets for a power bomb through the table and Kendrick comes to the ring and hits Gallagher in the back with an umbrella. Kendrick power bombs Gallagher through the table.

Brian says they both got to beat up a clown tonight. You say you belong here on 205 Live. Brian tells Jack he can prove that he belongs. Next week, they can have a match with No Disqualifications.

We take a look back at last week’s scheduled match between Rich Swann and TJ Perkins that ended up seeing Ariya Daivari take Perkins’ place due to injury.

TJ Perkins is playing video games and Rich Swann stops by. Rich wants TJ to stop playing for a moment so they can talk.

Perkins says he heard Swann asking why he was scratched. Perkins said he got hurt in their last match. He says he went out to watch Swann finish off Daivari. He did not expect Swann to get distracted and lose.

Swann wants to know if he is going to go there.

Perkins says he knows that Swann is a little salty. He says they have taken this competition too far. Instead of focusing on him, you should focus on Ariya Daivari. That was a W you shouldn’t have given away and maybe you can get a W the next time you face him.

Swann says he will beat Daviari and then they can have their rubber match. He tells Perkins to heal up so he can focus on Swann.

Neville walks in the back as we go to commercial.

We are back and next week, the clowns are gone when Brian Kendrick faces Jack Gallagher in a No Disqualification Match.

 Neville versus Akira Tozawa (with Titus O’Neil) for the Cruiserweight Title

They circle each other before locking up and Neville with a waist lock and Tozawa with a standing switch. Neville backs Tozawa into the ropes and Neville with a clean break. They lock up and Neville with a wrist lock but Tozawa with a reversal. Neville with a reversal and Tozawa backs Neville into the ropes and Tozawa with a chop on the break. They lock up and Neville with a side head lock take down. Neville with a shoulder tackle and he gets a near fall.

Neville with a cravate. Neville with a snap mare and boot to the head for a near fall. Neville sends Tozawa into the corner and he kicks Tozawa. Tozawa with an Irish whip and Neville flips out of the corner but Tozawa does not charge into the corner. Neville blocks a kick and he goes for a back heel kick but Tozawa blocks it. They lock up and Neville misses a chop. Tozawa with chops to Neville as they go around the ring. Tozawa with forearms and kicks in the corner. The referee pulls Tozawa out of the corner and Neville with a kick to the midsection followed by a chop.

Neville with a sunset flip but Tozawa rolls through and kicks Neville in the chest. Neville goes to the floor and Tozawa sets for the suicide dive but Neville moves. Neville drops Tozawa’s arm on the top rope. Neville kicks Tozawa in the head. Neville with an arm bar. Neville with a hammer lock using his feet and he drops back to add pressure to the shoulder. Neville returns to the hammer lock.

Neville gets a near fall. Neville kicks Tozawa in the arm and then he works on the arm. Tozawa with a sunset flip for a near fall. Tozawa with forearms but Neville with a drop kick that sends Tozawa to the floor. Neville goes up top and hits a moonsault onto Tozawa. The referee checks on Tozawa but Neville slams the arm into the LED board on the apron. The referee starts his count and Titus encourages Tozawa to get back into the ring. He beats the count into the ring.

Neville prepares to send Tozawa into the ringside barrier and he does it. Neville sends Tozawa back into the ring. Neville goes up top but Tozawa drop kicks the ropes and it crotches Neville. Neville goes to the floor and Tozawa sets for the suicide dive but Neville gets on the apron and Tozawa with a running boot to send Neville to the floor. Tozawa with a suicide dive onto Neville. Neville sends Tozawa onto the apron and Tozawa with a kick on the apron and a cannonball off the apron. Tozawa gets a near fall.

Tozawa misses a round kick but Tozawa hits a Saito suplex for a near fall. Tozawa goes up top but Neville crotches Tozawa. Neville with a forearm and he sets for the superplex. Tozawa with punches but Neville with a forearm. Neville with a superplex but Tozawa gets an inside cradle for a near fall. Tozawa with a clothesline and both men are down. Neville with a gourdbuster out of a fireman’s carry and then he hits a flying boot to the head but Tozawa kicks out at two.

Neville kicks Tozawa in the head but Tozawa with a punch but it does not have much power behind it. Tozawa with a forearm and Neville is down. Tozawa runs into a forearm. Tozawa with a rollup for a near fall. Tozawa with a Yakuza kick. Tozawa misses a round kick and Neville goes for the Rings of Saturn but Tozawa with a rollup. Neville with a rollup. Tozawa with a round kick and then Tozawa goes up top for the back senton but he misses. Neville locks in the Rings of Saturn and Tozawa taps out.

Winner: Neville

After the match, Neville says commiserations for anyone who was expecting a title reign for Akira Tozawa. While his title reign was pathetic. It was six days and but a footnote in the history books. The history books will read, still your Cruiserweight Champion, conquering all, and reigning over the cruiserweights . . .

Enzo Amore’s music plays and he comes out to the stage.

Enzo does his usual entrance intro before making his way to the ring. Enzo says 205 Live just became the realest show in the room. Enzo says that you call yourself the King, but there is one word to describe you and he will spell it out.
