NXT Results – May 17, 2017

Bobby Roode walks to Full Sail and his baggage caddy is yelled at for walking too slowly.

Match Number One: Drew McIntyre versus Sean Maluta

They lock up and Drew backs Sean into the turnbuckles and gives a clean break. They lock up again and Drew backs Sean into the corner again. Drew with another clean break but Sean pushes Drew. Sean with chops to Drew and Drew chops back and Sean goes down. Drew with another chop. Drew runs Sean into the turnbuckles and then tosses him across the ring. Drew with a deadlift suplex throw followed by a kick. Drew with an Irish whip but Sean gets his boot up and he comes off the turnbuckles with a Codebreaker and he gets a near fall. Sean with punches to Drew.

Drew retreats into the corner and Maluta with a running forearm. Drew with an Irish whip and Maluta tries to float over but Drew with a kick to the midsection. Drew sends Maluta into the turnbuckles and he connects with a series of punches until the referee pulls Drew out of the corner. Drew with a forearm into the corner followed by a forearm off the turnbuckles. Sean with a forearm but Drew with a head butt and Drew is bleeding from the eye. Drew sets for the Claymore and he hits it for the three count.

Winner: Drew McIntyre

After the match, Drew is asked about his success in NXT and Wesley Blake. Drew says Wesley Blake does not concern him. It would matter if he didn’t have the attention of everyone in NXT, including Wesley Blake. If Wesley wants a little attention, he gives Wesley his full attention. He challenges Blake to meet him in the ring and fight.

We take a look back at last week’s match between Roderick Strong and Hideo Itami to determine the number one contender for the NXT Title.

We see Strong getting attacked by the members of Sanity.

Roderick is checked on by William Regal and Strong tells Regal he wants Sanity.

Eric Young talks about Roderick’s baby and fiance. You want Sanity at Takeover? They call them crazy but that sounds crazy. They don’t take requests but they will grant Roddy’s wish and he will see Roderick at Takeover.

We go to commercial.

We are back the announcers talk about Takeover and the NXT title match. Nigel says that he thinks Itami has a chance to beat Bobby Roode.

We have a video package for Hideo Itami. He see his debut on September 11, 2014 at the Takeover Special.

The announcers run through the matches at Takeover.

We have a video package for the UK title match and footage from the finals of the UK Title Tournament.

Tyler talks about what he has done since winning. He plans to take the title to bigger places. It is just the beginning for him.

Pete Dunne says that people saw a glimpse of him in the UK Tournament.

Tyler says this is the thing dreams are made of. Pete says he crushes dreams. At Takeover, another dream gets crushed. Tyler says he has beaten Pete before and he will do it again at Takeover.

We go to commercial with a video package for Patrick Clark.

We see Hideo Itami’s entrance at the NXT Show in San Jose before Wrestlemania and his match against Tyler Breeze and the GTS that won the match.

We go to an interview with Asuka earlier in the day. She is asked about her match and having to defend against two people and she refuses to answer the question. She is asked about Ember Moon not being cleared to wrestle and she refuses to answer the question. Asuka does not want to answer the next question and she asks if the interview is over. She arrives at Full Sail.

Match Number Two: Lacey Evans versus Sonya DeVille

They lock up and Sonya with knees and a punch for a near fall. Sonya has a kick blocked and Lacey with a forearm to the midsection for a near fall. Sonya with a double leg take down and she gets a near fall. Sonya with a body scissors and she runs her forearm across the side of the face. Sonay with a rollup for a near fall. Sonya with a knee to the midsection and she kicks Lacey in the head. Sonya removes the gloves and she punches Lacey in the midsection. Lacey misses with a punch but so does Sonya. Lacey with a punch and Sonya goes down.

Sonya with a kick to the midsection followed by a knee drop to the midsection. Lacey with a neck breaker and she rolls back into a splash and gets a near fall. Sonya with a kick that sends Lacey to her knee and then Sonya with a Shining Wizard for the three count.

Winner: Sonya DeVille

We take a look at Hideo Itami putting his name into the mix of challengers for the NXT Title.

Match Number Three: Kassius Ohno versus Andrade Almas

They lock up and Ohno with a cravate and snap mare but Almas goes Tranquilo and lays on his back to taunt Ohno. Ohno with a single leg take down and Ohno flips over Almas and Almas does the same to Ohno. Almas with a kick to the midsection but Ohno slaps Almas. Ohno sets for the rolling elbow but Almas goes to the floor. Ohno sets for a dive but he does a handspring to the floor off the apron and then he kicks Almas on the ramp. Ohno sends Almas back into the ring.

Ohno with chops and then Ohno goes to the apron but Almas with a running boot to knock Ohno to the floor.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Almas with chops to Ohno. Almas kicks Ohno in the back and then to the chest. Almas with knees to Ohno against the ropes. Almas stomps on Ohno in the corner. Almas gets Ohno down in the corner and he sets for a move into the corner but he stops short, screams at Ohno and slaps him. Ohno with chops and Almas wants more. Almas with forearms to Ohno but Ohno sends Almas to the apron. Almas with an arm bar in the ropes and Almas has to release the hold. Almas with a missile drop kick and he gets a near fall.

Almas with a Fujiwara arm bar but Ohno rolls over to keep Almas from fully applying the hold. Almas holds on to the arm bar. Almas with a forearm and elbows and he sets for another charge across the ring and Ohno kicks Almas away. Ohno with a chop and boot to the head. Ohno with a head butt and bicycle kick. Ohno with a leaping swinging neck breaker. Ohno sends Almas into the corner and connects with a forearm. Ohno with a discus boot to the head for a near fall.

Ohno with a slam and then he goes to the turnbuckles for a moonsault but Almas moves and Almas with a neck breaker and elbow to the chest for a near fall. Almas sets for a suplex but Ohno blocks it. Ohno puts Almas on the turnbuckles and Ohno with a forearm to the head. Ohno sets for a superplex but Almas with a punch to stop him. Almas with forearms to knock Ohno off the turnbuckles. Almas comes off the turnbuckles and Ohno with a bicycle kick. Almas with a handspring Pele Kick. Almas sets for the running knees and he connects in the corner.

Almas sets for the downward spiral but Ohno backs Almas into the turnbuckles. Almas with a kick and Almas with a tornado reverse DDT but Ohno kicks out at one. Almas with forearms Ohno with a running bicycle kick followed by a rolling elbow and a second one for the three count.

Winner: Kassius Ohno

We are told that Wesley Blake will face Drew McIntyre next week when NXT will come from Chicago. We will also see Aleister Black in action.

We are back with footage from last week’s Number One Contender Match.

Bobby Roode makes his way to the ring.

Bobby says everywhere he goes people are talking about Hideo Itami. Bobby says Hideo has knocked a couple of people out and may have broken a jaw or two along the way. A few weeks ago, Hideo Itami knocked him out with a GTS in the middle of the ring. Roode says he can admit it. Bobby says he was minding his own business in a $5,000 custom made suit, like the one he is wearing tonight. Itami was completely unprovoked when he did that.

Bobby says that will never ever ever happen again. The difference between what happened on that night and what will happen at NXT Takeover Chicago. Bobby says he will not be in the middle of the ring in his $5,000 suit. He will be in his boots and gear and he will beat and embarrass him. He will make Hideo and example. Bobby brings up Hideo’s career in NXT. He keeps getting hurt. Bobby says he didn’t even know that Hideo was employed.

Bobby asks to think about his track record and how he has taken the NXT brand to heights it has never seen before. Hideo will have to go home to his wife and kids and tell them that he failed again. This time, you failed because of the NXT Champion Bobby Roode.

Hideo Itami’s music plays and he makes his way to the stage and the ring.

William Regal tries to stop him and security comes to the ramp and hold their arms out to tell Itami not to do anything to Roode.

Itami goes through security like a bad defensive line and he takes Roode down with a double leg take down. Itami attacks security and gives one of them a GTS. Itami gives a second member of security a GTS. Itami stares down the third member of security and Roode attacks Itami from behind but Itami with a GTS for Roode.

We go to credits.
