WWE Smackdown Results – Apr 4, 2017

– Tonight’s post-WrestleMania 33 edition of WWE SmackDown opens up with a look back at Sunday’s big event.

– We’re live from the Amway Center in Orlando as the pyro goes off. Tom Phillips welcomes us. He’s joined by JBL and David Otunga. No Mauro Ranallo again this week. Naomi will defend her newly-won SmackDown Women’s Title against Alexa Bliss tonight. Also, a Street Fight between Baron Corbin and WWE Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose. The Miz and Maryse will also call out John Cena and Nikki Bella later on. JBL warns us about how the crowd will be tonight.

In the Arena:

New WWE Champion Randy Orton is out first to kick off the show. Very mixed reaction for Orton tonight. Orton grabs a mic getting an even louder mixed reaction. He smiles taking a look around at the crowd tonight. Orton does a spin holding up the WWE Championship. He says he left an important part out of saying if you can’t beat’em join’em, turn on them when they least expect it and then beat them at WrestleMania. Orton tells Wyatt he is his master and you will “never, ever forget my name.” Orton holds up the WWE Championship.

Bray appears on the TitanTron. Bray says that Randy is the master of nothing. Make no mistake about it, their feud has just begun. Bray says he will reclaim what she said is his. He has his rematch coming, but he has something special planned for Randy. He wants to fight Randy in a different type of match. A match that will work your body as well as your mind. Bray says he will change the way you view this entire world. Light into darkness. Kindness into wrath. He says he will watch Randy cry. He will watch Randy’s soul devour itself. At the end of the night, the other will be sentenced to eternal damnation. Bray says he wants to fight Randy in a House of Horrors match.

Wyatt disappears off the screen. The lights go black. When they return, Wyatt is standing behind Orton and says he is here.

Wyatt attacks Orton with rights. Orton with rights back. Orton catches Wyatt with a snap powerslam off the ropes. Orton gets tripped up and dragged out under the bottom rope. Erick Rowan has returned and attacks Orton at ringside. Rowan tosses Orton back inside. Rowan and Wyatt beat down Orton.

Here comes Luke Harper. Harper levels Wyatt with a big boot inside the ring. He takes a look at Harper and welcomes him inside the ring. Rowan backs off. Orton is back in and stands next to Harper as they stare down both Wyatt and Rowan.

Backstage:

Renee Young is with The Miz and Maryse. Maryse thinks Nikki Bella should thank them for backing John Cena so far into a corner that he was forced to propose. Miz announces they are calling out Cena and Nikki tonight because it is the last time they might be able to do this with the roster shake up next week.

– Naomi defends the Smackdown Women’s Championship against Alexa Bliss next. We go to commercial.

– Back from the break and announced for later tonight is Wyatt and Rowan vs. Harper and Orton.

WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship
Naomi (c) vs. Alexa Bliss

We get ring introductions for the challenger Alexa Bliss and champion Naomi.

Bliss with kicks and forearms to Naomi early. Naomi with a bulldog to Bliss in the corner. Bliss rolls out, Naomi follows and catches Bliss with a quick side kick. Back to commercial.

We are back and Alexa with kicks and a near fall. Alexa works on the knee because Alexa hit a knee breaker. Alexa with a knee bar but Naomi gets to the ropes. Alexa puts Naomi in the ropes and uses them to add more pressure to the leg. Alexa kicks the leg. Alexa sends Naomi into the turnbuckles and then she works on the leg. Alexa sends Naomi to the mat again and she gets a near fall. Alexa gets a near fall. Alexa misses a splash into the corner but Naomi cannot capitalize. Naomi with forearms followed by a belly-to-back suplex. Naomi continues to limp.

Naomi gets Alexa on her shoulders and she hits a round kick after sending Alexa to the mat and Naomi gets a near fall. Alexa with a DDT and she gets a near fall. Alexa pulls Naomi to the mat again by using the hair. Naomi with Rear View but she cannot make the cover immediately so Alexa is able to kick out at two. Naomi goes for the split legged moonsault but Alexa grabs the leg and then she pulls Naomi off the turnbuckles. Alexa tries for a cover using the ropes but Naomi forces Alexa to tap out to the Slay-O-Mission.

Winner: Naomi

After the match, Naomi stands tall with the title in front of her hometown.

– Still to come, Corbin vs. Ambrose in a Street Fight. Back to commercial.

– We are back live and Curt Hawkins is already inside the ring. Hawkins says all he keeps hearing about is this “superstar shake up” because all he should be hearing about his him. He announces he is issuing an open challenge and giving it to the count of 10.

Here comes NXT star Tye Dillinger to answer the challenge!

Curt Hawkins vs. Tye Dillinger

They lock up and Dillinger with a snap mare and cartwheel. They lock up again and Hawkins with a punch and kicks in the corner. Hawkins with a belly-to-back suplex. Dillinger with punches and chops. Dillinger with a flying forearm and kicks followed by a short arm clothesline and a stomp to the chest. Dillinger with punches and then he hits the Tye Breaker for the three count.

Winner: Tye Dillinger

The announcers welcome Tye to SmackDown as he celebrates after the match.

– Still to come, The Miz and Maryse will call out Cena and Nikki. Back to commercial.

Backstage:

Mojo Rawley is in the interview area and he has his trophy with him. He is asked about the victory. Mojo says he saw his friend win a Super Bowl and then his friend saw him celebrate the Andre the Giant Battle Royal win. Mojo talks about the celebration and how he wishes Andre was there with them. He says he had the best moment of his life and he had his Wrestlemania moment. This is the start for Mojo Rawley. The bar has been raised and it is time to put some weight on it.

– We go to footage from Vince McMahon’s announcement of the Superstar Shake Up.

– Miz and Maryse walk in the back as we go to commercial.

In the Arena:

Back from the break and out come The Miz and Maryse as John Cena and Nikki Bella. Orlando is just starting to figure it out. Miz Cena says the first house rule tonight: you can’t chant “CENA SUCKS” in this arena tonight. He wants to get romantic for a second. Miz Cena tells Nikki Maryse he loves her. Maryse is wearing a giant ring on her finger. Miz continues his robot Cena impression on the mic. He announces that Cena and Nikki will be leaving WWE for good. They go to leave when a violin player appears at the top.

NXT star Shinsuke Nakamura is in the house to make his WWE TV debut! A loud “NAKAMURA” chant breaks out in Orlando as he stands in the middle of the ring.

Nakamura gives a salute to the audience as his theme music hits again. Tom Phillips says the King of Strong Style has officially arrived on Smackdown Live. We go to commercial.

Street Fight Match
Dean Ambrose vs. Baron Corbin

Ambrose’s Intercontinental Championship is not on the line tonight.

The bell rings and Corbin lifts Ambrose to the corner immediately. Corbin kicks away at Ambrose. He tosses Ambrose to another corner and throws more kicks. Corbin plants Ambrose down over the mat catching him with a choke and tossing him down. Corbin has a steel chair. Ambrose with a dropkick through the ropes and then catches Corbin with a suicide dive sending Corbin over the announce table at ringside. Ambrose catches Corbin with a jumping elbow off the announce table sending Corbin into the crowd. Ambrose is up on the barricade and drops an elbow over his head into the crowd. Commercial Break.

We are back and tables and chairs are in the ring and Ambrose leaps over Corbin but Corbin sends Ambrose through a table with a running tackle. Corbin goes under the ring again and he has a leather strap. Corbin whips Ambrose with the strap. Corbin whips Ambrose in the chest with the strap. Corbin wedges a chair in the turnbuckles. Corbin sends Ambrose towards the chair but Ambrose slides into the corner and Corbin is sent face first into the chair and Corbin goes down.

Ambrose with a kick but Corbin with a punch. They go back and forth until Corbin gains the advantage. Ambrose with forearms but Corbin with a knee. Ambrose with a clothesline and he gets the strap and he whips Corbin with it and he clotheslines Corbin over the top rope to teh floor. Ambrose with an elbow drop to the head and both men are down. Ambrose puts Corbin on a table that is set up on the floor. Dean goes to the turnbuckles. Ambrose with an elbow drop through the table.

Ambrose goes up top and Corbin hits Ambrose wtih a chair that he throws at Ambrose and Corbin hits End of Days for the three count.

Winner: Baron Corbin

After the match, Corbin stands tall as we go to replays. Corbin watches from the corner as Ambrose tries to recover.

– Still to come, Wyatt and Rowan vs. Orton and Harper. Also, Shane will address the “Superstar Shakeup” set for next week. Back to commercial.

In the Arena:

We are back and it is time for Shane McMahon and after the battle with Shane McMahon 48 hours ago, he is still able to do the Shane-O Shuffle. Shane thanks everyone for the reception. He says it has been quite a ride in the Sunshine State. On Monday night, Vince said there would be a Superstar Shake Up. It means excitement and new challenges. Shane says everyone on the Raw roster should pray they will end up on Smackdown because this is the land of opportunity.

AJ Styles’ music plays and he makes his way to the ring.

Shane thanks everyone for the reception. He says it has been quite a ride in the Sunshine State. On Monday night, Vince said there would be a Superstar Shake Up. It means excitement and new challenges. Shane says everyone on the Raw roster should pray they will end up on Smackdown because this is the land of opportunity.

AJ Styles’ music plays and he makes his way to the ring.

AJ says he does not know what is going on with this Superstar Shake Up, but he does not want to go anywhere. Shane knows it, these people know it. Smackdown is the house that AJ Styles built. AJ says he will be damned if someone is going to come over and try to take that from him. That is not why he came out here.

AJ says he owes Shane something after Wrestlemania. AJ offers his hand and Shane shakes it. AJ teases a punch and he smiles at Shane and then he poses. We go to commercial.

– Back from the break and Austin Aries cuts a backstage promo to hype tonight’s Fatal 4 Way #1 contenders match on 205 Live.

Randy Orton and Luke Harper vs. Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan

We go to the ring for tonight’s main event and out first comes Bray Wyatt with Erick Rowan. Out next comes Luke Harper as his former Wyatt Family partners look on. New WWE Champion Randy Orton is out next.

Rowan and Orton start things off and Orton avoids a clothesline and goes for an RKO but Rowan escapes. Rowan with a spinning heel kick and Orton is down. We go to commercial.

We are back and Orton moves when Wyatt charges into the corner and both men are down. Harper tags in and he clotheslines Wyatt and then he hits a running elbow. Wyatt with an Irish whip but Harper goes to the apron and punches Wyatt and hits a slingshot senton. Rowan is knocked to the floor and Wyatt is sent to the floor. Harper with a suicide dive that sends Rowan over the announce table. Wyatt with a clothesline to Harper. Rowan tags in and Wyatt with a back senton followed by a splash from Rowan for the three count.

Rowan with chops and Harper with forearms. Rowan with an Irish whip that sends Harper sternum first into the turnbuckles. Harper with a kick but Rowan with a spinning power slam for a near fall. Wyatt tags in and connects with forearms to the head. Wyatt with kicks to the ribs and a forearm to the head. Wyatt runs into a boot in the corner but Wyatt with a clothesline for a near fall.

Rowan tags in and he kicks Harper and follows with an elbow drop for a near fall. Rowan puts Harper on the turnbuckles and connects with forearms. Rowan rakes the eyes in the ropes and he Irish whips Harper and hits a drop kick for a near fall. Wyatt tags in and he connects with forearms and a reverse chin lock. Wyatt with a series of knees but Harper with a Bossman Slam. Orton and Rowan tag in and Orton with a power slam. Orton sets for the IEDDT on Rowan but Wyatt stops him so Orton sends Wyatt to the apron for an IEDDT of his own.

Orton looks around for the RKO and he punches the mat.

The lights go out and then they come back on and Wyatt is gone. He is on the floor and Rowan goes for a full nelson slam but Orton escapes and Harper with a super kick and an RKO from Orton for the three count.

Winners: Randy Orton and Luke Harper

After the bell, we see Wyatt on the ramp shaking his head. Orton and Harper look on as Wyatt laughs. Orton hits the corner to pose with the WWE Title as we go to replays. SmackDown goes off the air with Orton posing with the title as Wyatt looks on from the stage.
