Tonight’s show starts off with a look back at the main event of Fastlane that saw a new Universal Champion crowned.

Chris Jericho makes his way to the ring. Chris says this is the birthplace of Y2J. Tonight is the site of the resurrection of Chris Jericho. That is because last night at Fastlane, he screwed Kevin Owens out of the Universal Title. He says KO had it coming because Kevin betrayed him at the Festival of Friendship. Kevin turned on him and ripped his heart out. Kevin took his knife and stabbed Jericho in the back. He says it hurt. Chris says he is angry and confused. Chris says he wants to know why Kevin did that so he wants Kevin to come out man to man to answer the question… WHY?

Kevin Owens’ music plays and he makes his way onto the stage. Kevin says after what you did last night, does Chris think he will get the answer he is seeking?

Chris yells QUIET and he wants Kevin to answer the question. Why would a guy he trusted for eight months betray him? Why did he stab his best friend in the back? Chris says he has been at home and the hospital for three weeks.

Kevin says he will give Chris an answer. Kevin says he did not stab his best friend in the back because Chris was never his best friend. Kevin says his best friend at one time was Sami Zayn. He stabbed him in the back and he would do it again and again. Kevin says Chris was a tool. Kevin says he used Chris. The night he became Universal Champion, Triple H told him that everyone was coming for him and he better watch his back. Kevin says he needed someone to have his back and someone who had experience being there. He needed someone who was gullible. Kevin says Chris was a perfect tool, until you outlived your usefulness. That was as soon as you accepted that match against Goldberg on his behalf. You became a burden and he had to get rid of Chris.

Kevin says he knows that he would have beaten Goldberg if it wasn’t for Jericho. Kevin says he is man enough to admit that Chris outsmarted him last night. Kevin says what he did at the Festival of Friendship is that he spared Chris. He could have made sure Chris could never walk again. Kevin says he let Chris walk away because of Chris’ family. Kevin says that was the biggest mistake of his career. Kevin says the biggest mistake of Chris’ career was costing Kevin his title.

Chris says what he did last not was not the end, it was just the beginning. What started last night at Fastlane is a long and winding road that leads to Kevin Owens versus Chris Jericho at Wrestlemania. Chris says the fans like it, but Kevin does not care about the fans.

Kevin says that after last night, you might think all he wants is the Universal title, but he has a rematch when he wants it. When you took his title from him, Kevin says all he has been thinking about is taking Chris’ title from him. If you want him at Wrestlemania, put the US Title on the line.

Chris agrees to the match. He says why not wait for Wrestlemania so let’s get it on tonight. He wants to know what is stopping Kevin.

Kevin says nothing is stopping him now so Owens goes to the ring and they exchange punches. Samoa Joe appears out of nowhere and joins in on the beatdown to Jericho.
