because of the blood that flows through Cody's veins. She starts to talk about her future here, but she's interrupted by Maria Kanellis-Bennett, who comes out with Sienna to tell Brandi that she's all alone now that her poor hubby got himself hurt. Now Brandi has to decide whether she's going to go home and be a good wifey or stay here and swim with the sharks? Brandi asks if that's a threat, and Maria says it's an opportunity because she opens doors, and sometimes she slams them in peoples' faces like she did to Allie. Maria says Allie had a lesson to learn and now she'll be a better assistant, and all the fans will stop chanting for Allie (they don't), but she sees something in Brandi even though she had to cheat to beat Maria (she says she would have done the same thing), but she wants to give Brandi the chance to join her ladies' squad and be the woman she can be instead of riding on her husband's coattails. Maria says she and Mike Bennett are 50-50, and she wants to help Brandi find out who she truly is. Brandi says she's her own woman and makes her own decisions, and her name is Rhodes, and that name carries legacy and prestige, and demands respect. Even though she doesn't have Maria's respect, she doesn't need her help for anything. Maria asks if she's sure about that, and Sienna gets right up in Brandi's face. Brandi attacks Sienna, but gets distracted by Maria and gets laid out from behind by Sienna. Sienna plants Brandi with the AK-47 and she and Maria stand tall over Brandi's fallen carcass.
We have three titles on the line tonight as the Hardys defend the tag title against DCC, Eddie Edwards defends the TNA World Title against Bobby Lashley, and the Grand Championship is up after this break when Aron Rex defends against Jessie Godderz!
We see a video package showing how Eddie Edwards grew up in the Boston area and discovered wrestling in his teenage years, and began training at Killer Kowalski's school. We see how Eddie and his longtime tag partner Davey Richards came to TNA, but fate intervened when he blew his leg out in a match against Davey and wound up on the shelf.
Time for our first match...
Grand Championship Match: Aron Rex vs Jessie Godderz
They trade takedowns to start the match, then Jessie opens up with right hands. Jessie is all about the aggression here, taking the fight to Aron Rex and drilling him with a dropkick for 2. Jessie goes for the Adonis Lock, but Rex uses everything he's got to block, so Jessie catapults Rex into the corner instead and hits a back suplex for 2. Jessie tries to dump Rex to the floor, but Rex slips and lands face first on the ropes. Jessie hits a crossbody for 2, then gets a nasty armbar on Rex, takes him down to the mat, and turns it into a Fujiwara armbar. Rex makes it to the ropes, and desperately hangs onto them as the round ends.
Jessie gets a unanimous decision for round 1, but Rex takes control as the second round starts, taking Jessie to the mat, dropping a series of knees, and getting Jessie in a chinlock. Rex yells at Jessie that he can't win, and Jessie elbows his way out, but Rex catches him with a knee to the gut and a snap suplex for 2. Back to the chinlock, Rex whips Jessie hard into the corner, but Jessie avoids a corner charge and gets a schoolboy rollup for 2. Jessie with an O'Connor roll for 2, then Rex drills Jessie in the back with a hard forearm. Jessie dodges another charge and fires up with a series of clotheslines and back elbows before getting a short powerslam for 2. Jessie gets the Adonis Lock as the round ends, and he wins the second round on a split decision as we go to commercial.
Okay, we're back for round 3, and Rex opens up by going to Jessie's eyes. Jessie really seems to have been badly affected by that gouge to the eyes, and Rex wipes his hand on his towel and goes back to Jessie's eyes, then drills him with a big right hand and pins him.
Winner: Aron Rex
So it looks like Rex had something on that towel and used it to burn Jessie's eyes to blind him. Great finish to put heel heat on Rex, who then gets a mic to tell the fans to give it up for Jessie Godderz in a very, very hard fought loss.
We go to a video package of the X Division, with DJ Z telling his partners how great it is to have them here, and his friends telling him how great it is that they're all together. It's great, they're great, we're all great.
DJ Z, Braxton Sutter & Mandrews vs Rockstar Spud & Decay vs Marshay Rockett, Andrew Everett & Trevor Lee
DJ Z, Crazzzzzzzzzy Steve & Trevor Lee start off, and DJ Z clears the others out to the floor and wipes them out with a dive. They go in the ring and Mandrews goes for a Frankensteiner on Lee, but Lee catches him and powerbombs him into the corner. Mandrews plays babyface in peril while the heel guys beat him up, and then Rockett comes in the ring and goes face to chest with Spud, who tags in Abyss, and this is a more even battle. They trade right hands and shoulderblocks, but Mandrews springboards in and takes them both out with a dropkick, then makes the hot tag to Sutter, who cleans house on everybody in sight. Abyss chokeslams Sutter, gives Everett the Black Hole Slam, then chokeslams Steve on top of Everett and...the referee throws Decay out of the match. Uh...why? Spud's on his own now, and Sutter kicks the crap out of him and hits a leaping Flatliner for the win.
Winners: DJ Z, Braxton Sutter & Mandrews
Eh, the usual, and a really weird call on ejecting Decay there.
Back to the Eddie Edwards history package, and we pick up at the point Eddie broke his ankle and went on the shelf. We see how he got married (his wife is gorgeous, by the way...go Eddie!) and then he came back just in time for Davey to injure himself badly enough that he'd go on the shelf for a year. Eddie had to go it alone, and he wound up winning the X Division Title.
Eddie Edwards and Bobby Lashley are backstage taping up their fists, and they'll face off for the TNA World Title later on tonight!
Reby is playing the piano for the entrance of the BROKEN Hardys, then they come out and Matt asks Brother Nero what the fate of the men in black will be, and Brother Nero says that they'll fade away and classify themselves as obsolete (OBSOLETE!). The BROKEN Hardys go to the ring and says the chanting of the fans is absolutely tantalizing, and MAtt mentions the masked businessman who came to the ring after their win over the Tribunal, and they pointed to the greatest team in all of time and space: BROKEN Matt Hardy and Brother Nero. Matt tells the masked businessmen to stop pointing at them and come face them in the ring because he is summoning them NOW! The lights go out, and when they come back up, the DCC is in the ring! One of them stands and watches as the other two beat the BROKEN Hardys down, then he picks up one of the title belts, holds it high, and then drops it before the three of them walk off. Brother Nero tells the freaks to get their asses back here if they wanna fight, and the DCC does just that, and the bell rings, and we're off!
TNA World Tag Team Title Match: The BROKEN Hardys vs DCC
Brother Nero brawls with one of the DCC on the floor as Matt brawls with another one in the ring, and then two of the DCC beat Matt down in the ring and take him out with a double shoulderblock. Brother Nero slowly crawls up to his corner as Matt takes a beating, and Matt hits a Side Effect and makes the hot tag to Brother Nero, who comes in and cleans house on the DCC. He hits one of them with the Twist of Fate, but the other one breaks the cover up at 1. All four men are brawling in the ring, and the referee...calls for the bell? WTF?
Really bizarre officiating tonight. The Hardys brawl to the back with two of the DCC, and the third shoves the referee on his ass and then goes to the back to join his buddies. One of them gets the better of Brother Nero, and Matt has the advantage on the other as they brawl out to the parking lot and Matt rams him into a production trailer, and one of the Harris brothers looks out the window of the trailer to see what's going on. The brawl continues with the Hardys kicking the crap out of the DCC, and then we see a backstage interview with Grado getting interrupted by the brawl, and Grado gets a selfie with Brother Nero. Finally one of the DCC low blows Brother Nero, and Nero says "Not again!" Matt splashes Brother Nero with water from the Lake of Refreshment, and he turns into Corporate Champion Jeff Hardy, and he knocks the other member of the DCC out and burns him with a cigarette. Matt gets a forklift and runs one of the DCC over, then repeatedly bashes his face into a stack of pallets while yelling "DELETE! DELETE!" The other DCC gets the advantage on Jeff, throws him in a crate, puts the top on, and rams the crate into the wall. We see Matt gouging the other DCC's eyes, then regular Brother Nero pops out of the crate and gives the other DCC a Twist of Fate. Matt tells the DCC member he's beating up to take off his mask because it's not Halloween anymore, but the DCC member kicks him off the top of the forklift and runs. Brother Nero asks Matt if he's okay, and Matt says "Of course...who are you?"
Ethan Carter III is backstage, and he's tired of listening to Eli Drake, but he has an idea how they can solve this, and we'll find out after the commercial break.
Okay, we're back from commercial, and EC3 is in the ring saying he wishes he was in the World Title match tonight, but there's no time for that because there's someone backstage who can't stop running his mouth, and he calls Eli Drake out to have a word with him. Drake comes out to the top of the ramp, and EC3 invites him into the ring, but Drake doesn't feel like getting into a fight right now. EC3 says that Drake said something quite interesting the last time they had a confrontation, he said that he fought for everything while EC3 was handed everything, and asks if that's right. Drake says that's right, and EC3 says he's half right: he was given a name and an opportunity, but he damn sure earned everything else. He went undefeated for a damn eon in this company, he went through the TNA Hall of Fame like a hot knife through butter, he beat Kurt Angle to win the title, and he beat 32 men to do it a second time. He earned the fact that this company is synonymous with him, and he earned the fact that he's the man around here. The fans chant for EC3, and EC3 says he earned everything, and Drake has a golden ticket to be the World Champion, and he's too scared to cash it in, but Drake still wants what he's earned so bad, but he's open, and Drake can earn it. Drake says he doesn't need what Drake earned because he can bypass all that. EC3 says Drake is a gutless bastard who has no stones, and if he wants to be the franchise of this company, he can have his chance by putting his title shot on the line against him. Drake tells the dummies to keep it quiet, and says he won't kick EC3's ass because it's the worst deal he could ever take. EC3 has a caveat to his offer: if Drake puts his title on the line and beats him, he'll disappear from the title scene, go to the bottom of the barrel, and will never challenge for the TNA World Title again. Drake asks the fans if that's what they want to see, and he says they'll go ahead and make history next week because it'll be Eli Drake vs...whoever the champion is, either Eddie Edwards or Bobby Lashley, and EC3 can continue being Ethan Midcarter III, and it's not because he's not good enough, it;s because that's where he's going to leave him.
Jeremy Borash is backstage with Bobby Lashley, and he wants to know why he attacked Cody last week. Lashley says he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and he lknows Eddie tried to stir him up and get people to believe he can beat him, but Cody will never be back, and his wife will have to announce his retirement. Lashley has been training for this for weeks, and his wife and kids will watch his dreams die when he stands over him as the World Champion.
Back to the Eddie history package, as we see how Lashley beat Eddie in a title for title match, then Eddie found out that one of his closest friends had passed away, and that put Eddie at a crossroads. But instead of giving up, Eddie kept plugging along and got another shot at Bobby Lashley and even though Lashley had destroyed everyone thrown in his path for months, he defeated Lashley to win the TNA World Title. Eddie says he worked for this his entire life, and this was for his family, his late friend, and everyone who ever supported him.
Eddie Edwards and Bobby Lashley are backstage, and they're...WARMING UP! The TNA World Title is on the line...NEXT!
Okay, all the hullabaloo is behind us, and now it's...MAIN EVENT TIME!
TNA World Title Match: Eddie Edwards vs Bobby Lashley
Eddie takes the fight right to Lashley, but Lashley repeatedly picks Eddie up and slams him to the mat, then hammers him with hard shots. Eddie isn't deterred, laying Lashley out with a clothesline, but Lashley lays Eddie out with a big back elbow. Lashley goes for a German suplex, Eddie slips out, but Lashley runs him over with a shoulderblock and then skee balls him out to the floor. Lashley goes out after him, but Eddie quickly slides back into the ring and takes Lashley out with a dive. Eddie unloads with a series of chops to Lashley, but Lashley suddenly grabs Eddie and pops him over his head with a belly-to-belly release suplex, and the tide turns just like that. Lashley rams Eddie's face into the ring steps, then suplexes him again onto the entry ramp. Lashley press slams Eddie into the crowd, then slides back into the ring and plays to the crowd before going back out after Eddie, dragging him over the barricade, and continues dishing out punishment. Lashley chokes Eddie with his wrist tape as we go to commercial.
We're back, and Lashley is still dominating Eddie Edwards, locking him down with a chinlock and then just slamming his head into the mat when he tries to escape. Eddie hits a jawbreaker and dishes out a few chops, gets the boot up on a charge, and both men are down. Eddie is up and hits a charging forearm, but he hits the ropes again and Lashley hits him with a CROSSBODY BLOCK (!!!!) for 2. Lashley goes for a delayed vertical suplex, but Eddie slips out and hits a sitout powerbomb on Lashley. He ducks a clothesline from Lashley and unloads with more chops and a series of back elbows, dodges another charge and sends Lashley out to the floor, then he comes through the ropes with a dive that sends Lashley crashing into the barricade. Eddie hits a Shining Wizard knee for 2, but Lashley pops Eddie up and hits a Dominator for 2. Lashley goes to the second rope, but Eddie hits a leaping enziguiri and sends Lashley crashing out to the floor where Eddie takes him out with another dive. Eddie rolls Lashley back inside and charges right into a spinebuster from Lashley. Lashley puts Eddie on the top rope and goes for a superplex, but Eddie blocks, gives Lashley a super gourdbuster, and goes for the top rope double stomp...but Lashley moves. Lashley pulls the referee in the way of a charge and the ref gets knocked out, and Lashley hits the spear...and there's no ref to count. Another ref comes out and finally makes a count, but Eddie is out at 2. Lashley knocks the second ref out, and the first ref comes into the ring with the belt, and it looks like he's going to stop the match, but Lashley tries to grab the belt out of his hands and leaves himself open to the Boston Knee Party. Eddie makes a cover and the referee fast counts Lashley.
Winner: Eddie Edwards
Jesus Christ, talk about a night full of finishes that didn't help anyone. I really expected better given how good TNA has been all year long.
