WWE NXT held a series of matches at tonight’s tapings to determine a new #1 contender to NXT Champion Samoa Joe.
The matches saw Tye Dillinger defeat Eric Young by DQ, Andrade “Cien” Almas defeat No Way Jose, Roderick Strong defeat Elias Samson and Bobby Roode defeat Oney Lorcan. Dillinger, Almas, Strong and Roode then competed in a Fatal 4 Way Elimination match with the winner becoming the new #1 contender. Roode won that match, last eliminating Dillinger.
The qualifying matches should air on December 14th with the Fatal 4 Way airing on December 21st.
It appears Roode vs. Joe for the title will take place at “Takeover: San Antonio” on January 28th during Royal Rumble weekend. Joe is set to defend the title against Shinsuke Nakamura at this weekend’s live event in Japan.
