Latest on Jericho – Lesnar Altercation, What Was Not Planned About the Lesnar/Orton Finish, Heat on Y2J or Lesnar?

As noted, Chris Jericho and Brock Lesnar were involved in a backstage altercation at WWE SummerSlam following the conclusion of the main event on Sunday night. PWInsider has since confirmed the story, and has provided some additional details.

Many people backstage in WWE were unaware of how much of the finish of Brock Lesnar vs Randy Orton was planned in advance, as WWE kept the match finish tightly under wraps. PWInsider is noting while the blood was not part of the planned finish, the TKO was indeed the planned finish and the show was only timed to go a few minutes longer than it actually did.

WWE management, including Triple H and Vince McMahon, did have to intervene to breakup the situation, but it’s being said there is no backstage heat on either Jericho or Lesnar, as the situation is being viewed as a case of the “boys being boys” with tempers flaring. There was said to be a lot of talk backstage of what a “badass” Jericho was for stepping to Lesnar, and for his concern with Randy Orton’s condition following the SummerSlam main event.

Brock Lesnar left New York City early Monday morning to head back home, and as of now there is no word on when he will be returning to WWE TV.
